Those power supplies are garbage, but I think you're overreacting. That build isn't even pulling 400W at peak load.

It’s not like it’ll blow up tomorrow, but honestly, seeing a 2070 Super on a PC Power Supply like that just makes me cringe. Though, now that the newer cards are out, the 2070S is basically moving into the lower mid-end tier anyway. 😬

Dropping $500 on a GPU just to pair it with a cheap $50 power supply doesn't make much sense in the long run. If you're already buying parts from a retailer like Best Buy, you might as well spend $100 on a solid PC Power Supply so you don't have to worry about any issues down the road.

Either $60, and please, just not some cheap office junk.

I reached out to them today to cancel my order for the PC Power Supply and swap it for a different model, but they had already shipped the original package. I didn't expect them to process things quite that fast, I guess.
Since I added some other items to my order, they'll be sending a second shipment soon, so I'm considering just picking a different power supply then. I'm still not entirely sure what I'll do with this one, though..

donate 🙂

If nobody else wants it, I'll take donations. Don't let it go to waste... 🙂

Sell it. It’s a nice unit, especially with that RGB, perfect for a low-end build with a tempered glass side panel.

The package arrived today, but it was missing the power supply and the SSD. They’re shipping those on February 29th since they weren't in stock right now.

I'll probably figure out the power supply separately.
A few photos.
This CPU cooler seems somewhat small. It's rated for 65W, but it looks tiny in this case. I usually go with liquid cooling, but that doesn't fit my AM4 setup.

I picked up the case at Home Depot and got the backup 2.5 1 TB drive from Best Buy.
Once the rest arrives, I'll start the build.

The ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports duo is an excellent cooler, especially since I found it for about $35 over in Germany

👍👍

The LC-CC-120 is fine too.

Dear users of this thread, I find myself in need of a "small" bit of advice...

I am currently facing quite a dilemma regarding an upgrade for certain components... Regarding the processor, I suppose I am wondering if the I5 9400 f would be a better choice than the Ryzen 5 2600?

Also, what exactly is the difference between the Ryzen 5 2600 and the Ryzen 5 3400 g ??

In addition to that—if it isn't too much trouble while you are suggesting processors—I would appreciate a recommendation for a motherboard, perhaps up to $250... (ideally something on the cheaper side) 😁 ... maybe a bit of a best buy.

+ Furthermore, if any of you have another processor recommendation up to, say, $400 (again, looking for a best buy), I would be most grateful for your input.

Thank you all in advance.👍

Just search PassMark for the Ryzen 5 3600, and do the same for any other CPU you're looking at. It’s an easy way to see which one performs best. The Ryzen 5 3400 g ?? has integrated graphics roughly on par with an old HD 7750 or 7770... it really just depends on what you need. That Gigabyte B450 gaming x motherboard is a solid pick, though you could go with a B550 too. The Ryzen 5 1600 af is a pretty good deal if you want to save some cash...

I ended up picking up a new CPU cooler today, so that AMD one can just stay put.

Alexander Moore67 I went with your suggestion; they only had white in stock, which is a bummer because I really wanted red or green.

Bryan Taylor6 said:Just type "passmark r5 3600" into Google—honestly, you can do that for any processor, really—and you'll see pretty clearly which one hits harder. The 3400 g has integrated graphics, though, kind of in the ballpark of an old HD 7750 or 7770... I guess it all depends on what you actually need. That Gigabyte B450 gaming x motherboard is a decent pick, maybe even a B550 if you want, and that R5 1600 af seems like a pretty good deal...

I don't really have a use for a dedicated GPU, so from what I've gathered, the Ryzen 5 3600 seems like the best way to go, I suppose..

As for the board, this Gigabyte B450 gaming x looks perfectly fine to me..

I'll probably grab some RAM too (it's hard to mess that up, I think) .. The graphics card might be an older model, but I assume it'll have enough kick for what I'm doing—I'm definitely not some hardcore power user 😁

EDIT: Actually, I'm leaning toward the Ryzen 5 2600 now .. It probably isn't worth shelling out that much extra cash for the R5 3600.

Grab some 2x8 GB RAM at 3000 MHz or higher—just make sure you get the one with the longest warranty possible.

The PassMark difference between a Ryzen 5 2600 and an i5 9400 f is basically negligible... honestly, I have no idea how much of a price gap there actually is in dollars...

The cooler is installed. If it were even 5 mm taller, I guess it wouldn't have fit at all..

$33 the difference is actually $44

I recommended it based on the case specs, and please, don't even think about using those cheap, low-quality power supplies....don't even try it...
Pick up another 12x12cm fan and mount it at the front of the case; the airflow will be much better
