I still remember when Taylor Swift first started out. Good grief, what absolute trash. It was just... honestly, so bad.

I don't have much trouble admitting when I'm being an idiot. 😁

Man, I don't even know what a mother's hug actually feels like. My late grandma gave me one hug a long time ago, and honestly, that's pretty much all I've got to go on.☕

ironcobra13, just wanted to give you a heads-up, I had a dream about sex last night😁

You're making real progress here. If we're looking at this mathematically, it's a one-zero for you.😍

I don't even know... I mean, I don't really know what a mother's hug feels like. My late grandma hugged me once, a long time ago, and I guess that's pretty much all I can remember.☕

Well, she probably wouldn't have liked it if you grabbed her by the butt, so maybe that's why she stopped hugging you.

Honestly, I don't even know what a mother's hug feels like. I mean, my late grandmother hugged me once, ages ago, and that’s pretty much the extent of my memory on the subject.☕

My late mother was... well, she was never really the affectionate type when I was growing up. No cuddling, no playing—nothing. She had this bizarre theory that as long as you fed a kid and dressed them, your job was done. To her, showing affection or actually engaging with a child was just a massive waste of time. Since she was a schoolteacher, I suppose that rigid mindset made sense to her. It wasn't until she got much older that she finally realized how big of a mistake she'd made, and suddenly she started trying to hug me and be present. I was just standing there thinking, "WTF?" It felt so foreign. I still remember whenever my grandmother would try to hug or kiss me, my mom would snap at her, acting like it was somehow unhygienic or improper.😵.
I tried to be the complete opposite with my own son. Everything my mother failed to do, I made sure to provide. And of course, my mother would jump in to criticize me, telling me to stop being "idiotic" by wasting time playing with him.

My dad never hugged me either, so... what can I say? That's probably why I'm constantly hugging everyone else.😍

Now if I could just manage to get laid, I'd be an absolute winner.😁

briskbison55 said:She’s probably gonna be pretty salty about it—you know, once she realizes you went straight for the ass instead of playing nice, and then she just stops giving you those hugs altogether. Typical.

That’s a hundred percent what I’m talking about. Honestly, I’ll just hit her up and ask once she finally rolls out of bed.☕

She had this totally wild theory that as long as you fed a kid and kept them dressed, you’d done your job. To her, all that mushy stuff—the hugging, the playtime—was just a massive waste of energy. And since she was a schoolteacher, I guess she thought she knew everything about how kids "should" be raised. Then, out of nowhere, once she hit her later years, she finally realized she messed up. Suddenly, she’s all over me with hugs and trying to make up for lost time. It was such a total "WTF" moment for me. It felt so weird and unnatural. I still remember when my grandma would try to hug or kiss me, my mom would snap at her like she was being unhygienic or something. Just totally bizarre.😵.
I was a completely different parent to my son than how my mom was to me. Honestly, I made it my mission to do every single thing she failed to do. And of course, she’d always be on my case, snapping at me like, "Go do something productive instead of just sitting around being bored with that kid."

I mean, honestly, it feels like it’s just baked into my mom's DNA at this point. She was way more hardcore about all that stuff than I am—it's like one of those generational things, you know? Just passes down from parent to kid, knee to knee, over and over again.☕

Drew Ross2 said:Man, I can't even talk about it... my old man never gave me a hug in his life, you know? Never once. So now? Yeah, I'm out here giving hugs like there's no tomorrow. Just constant. It’s how I roll. 😍

My old man treats us like nothing more than a checklist of chores or some annoying natural disasters he’s gotta deal with, rather than actual human beings. Honestly, the only one he actually gives a damn about is my youngest sister. For the rest of us? We basically don't even exist in his eyes unless he needs a favor or something goes wrong. We’re just your typical, textbook dysfunctional American family.☕

I suspect maybe 70% of American families are stuck in this cycle—mine included, unfortunately. But whatever, we have to rise above it and try to do better with our own kids.

Nah, no way. I'm already too far gone to start trying to fix my kids. I'm basically a lost cause at this point, just here to take up space.🥳

Good luck to anyone out there actually dealing with descendants. You're gonna need it.👍

That's one way to look at it, I guess. But just because life dealt you a bad hand growing up doesn't mean you have to stay broken forever.😳

Drew Ross2 said:Look, you can't just walk around thinking that because life absolutely kicked your teeth in when you were a kid, you're destined to stay broken forever. Seriously. Just because people messed with you back in the day doesn't mean you have to carry that baggage like a permanent heavy backpack everywhere you go. You aren't defined by whatever bullshit happened to you years ago. Period. 😳

Nah, they’re just getting warmed up. I'm the one who actually crossed the finish line.🥳

I used to spend so much time resenting my old man for lecturing me for an hour or two at a time.
Now, I catch myself starting to lecture my own daughters in the exact same way, and I honestly just want to slap myself.
The older generation always finds a way to mess us up. Who knows how we’ll end up screwing over our kids even while we think we're being affectionate and protective? Maybe they'll turn out okay, though... 😁

My old man used to have these phases where he’d just vanish from the house for a month or two at a time. Then, out of nowhere, he’d show up again, only for my mom to start spinning these wild tales about me—just blaming me for everything under the sun. And then, of course, he’d turn around and give me this whole lecture, acting like he had it all figured out, before disappearing again for another couple of months.
And honestly, what is she even playing at? She got her hands on the money, so what? I mean, damn, you can't exactly hug a stack of cash. Money isn't going to teach you how to actually live your life. But hey, maybe if you listen to an MP3

If I could just get laid and finally get some decent sleep, I’d basically be winning at life, wouldn't I?😁

Honestly, though, sometimes those dreams are way better than reality—at least if you ask me.😍

I’ve dealt with mostly Californians and New Yorkers, but I did have one Norwegian guy once! 😁

New Yorkers, Canadians, Mexicans, and Americans from the Midwest.
Man... Cleveland... that place is honestly a piece of my heart.
Drew Ross2 said:Are all three of them from that small town in California? 😁

None of them. It's just some tiny little town, a total nothingburger. And honestly? I wouldn't go for a Californian either.
ironcobra13 said:Czechs, I just finally caught up with your post. I was totally out of the loop... man, that really aged me!

I was visiting Cleveland recently, and I don't know if it just made a huge impression on me or what... but I actually dreamed about it last night!

The Czechs in Cleveland live in such a cool city. Everything is just right there when you need it, and honestly, the surrounding area is pretty much perfect.
I spent about two months over there, and I have to say, it was a blast.
