Opening the WhatsApp chat?

I’ve combed through these six pages of the thread, and I still haven't found a single clear explanation featuring a specific example of which parts of the private Slack were actually problematic. All I'm seeing are vague claims that things got chaotic or that certain reports were filed—but if we're going to do this, could someone provide a real example? Which posts were reported? It seems like this whole thing is just a matter of opinion rather than actual rule-breaking.

Let’s try not to conflate a single discussion thread—or a US chat—with the entire forum structure. I’ve noticed a lot of you complaining about chats being shut down, but we’ve already walked through why this happens. It’s pretty obvious that over time, different cliques and groups tend to form within specific chats, which naturally changes the vibe, but at the end of the day, they are still just chat topics. These chats only stay open if the moderators agree to host them on the site. All our other main threads have to strictly follow the forum rules to be allowed, whereas the chat is really more of a little extra perk or a bonus for the community. Our main threads and all the standard topics are moderated constantly; the mods read through them, keep an eye out, handle reports, issue warnings, and delete whatever needs to be cleared out. Now, chat topics can get so incredibly hectic that it’s just impossible to monitor them with that same level of intensity, so the rules there are often a bit more relaxed, and in many cases, moderation mostly happens when someone actually files a report. Basically, while everything is fine for a while, once a chat becomes impossible to track alongside all the other topics, or when it starts turning into total chaos and causing more headaches than actual fun, it gets shut down. This happens more often in chats specifically because the moderation is lighter and the conversations are way more casual. I hope that clears things up for everyone.

If things are getting messy in other parts of the forum, you are more than welcome to start a new thread about it, provided you stick to the site rules. But honestly, calling for resignations or demanding new moderators just because a chat topic got closed is totally unnecessary.
