Best portable speaker recommendations?

In theory, it should work, but connecting Bluetooth devices to Windows computers is honestly a nightmare, especially when you're using those tiny dongles. Drivers are usually a total mess and just aren't reliable. I spent a few months messing around with a similar adapter to link my Bluetooth headphones and an Amazon Echo in speaker mode because I didn't have actual speakers, and let me tell you—it was a struggle. I wasn't really gaming on it; I just used a cable for my headset during matches. I wouldn't trust the latency if you try to go over Bluetooth.

The whole point of this project is to clear out all the clutter—I’m trying to go wireless wherever I possibly can to get rid of this mess of cables. My keyboard and mouse are already wireless, and I’ve got the PC hooked up via Wi-Fi using those little USB adapters. Using a 3.5 mm jack just isn't an option for me because there's this constant, annoying buzzing whenever I plug my headphones in. I've tested several different pairs of headphones, but they all have that same hum, so it's pretty safe to assume the 3.5 mm port itself is the culprit here. I'm asking because, honestly, I've always just used the dongles that come in the box with my peripherals; I haven't really messed around with Bluetooth or any of that tech before.
By the way, I'm running Linux Ubuntu, which usually makes things easy since they tend to have drivers for almost everything. I don't really play games, but I do watch a lot of movies—which is why I'm a bit worried. I've heard people complaining about audio-to-video sync issues when they try to connect a Bluetooth soundbar to their TV while streaming through a set-top box. For me, I mostly just watch files straight from my hard drive that I've grabbed via torrents.
My plan is to grab a dongle first, connect my headphones via Bluetooth, and if that works out without a hitch, then I'll look into getting some speakers.

If you switch to Linux, things might actually run much smoother. I’ve dealt with audio desync myself during gaming and movies, though luckily I mostly just listen to music where it doesn't matter as much.

The hardware shouldn't be the culprit here. If it were, everyone would be having this exact same issue regardless of their setup. It’s more likely that the Windows implementation of Bluetooth drivers—at least when it isn't built directly into a laptop—is just absolute garbage.
Especially when it comes to audio.

Alternatively, there are those Bluetooth adapters that plug into a 3.5mm jack and draw power from a USB cable. People usually use them in cars that lack Bluetooth to link a phone and stream music through the AUX.
It’s possible they work in reverse if the button-pairing actually functions (pure speculation on my part), meaning you could potentially take the 3.5mm output from your motherboard and have the Bluetooth adapter broadcast it to your speakers.
