Video and audio quality: Best downloaders?

I’ve been wondering—does the actual quality of the picture and sound change depending on which tool you use? For example, if I grab the exact same video with one downloader, I might end up with a file that's 445MB, a bitrate of 562kbps, and audio at 254kbps. But if I use a different downloader for that same video, I get a measly 264MB, a bitrate of 281kbps, and audio at just 126kbps, even though both are 640x480 pixels in MP4 format with AAC 2-channel audio.

Depends on how you look at it. I usually just use clipconverter.cc and it works fine for me. Just double-check your downloader settings; some of those "free" ones will cap you at 480p unless you cough up the cash.

It all really comes down to how you have your downloader configured.

I've been using DownThemAll! on Chrome lately. It’s honestly such a breeze to use, and get this—it pulls everything down without any weird compression at the highest bitrate possible. Like, I'm pretty sure it's just grabbing the direct converted source file, which is way better than any of the other tools I've messed around with.

Steven Hayes26, thanks for the hand, but I honestly don't know anything about yt-dlp and I have zero chance of getting it installed. It’s just way too complicated. This isn't like some simple "download an app and click install" situation; there's a whole mountain of technical steps involved that I just don't wrap my head around.

I just set up Download Accelerator Plus on my Chrome browser, but whenever I try to grab a video, it gives me options like Internet Download Manager, offering about 20 different formats. The problem is, no matter which one I pick, the files end up corrupted. It’s the same story every single time I use this downloader; every video comes out broken.

It’s really not that complicated. You just download the file and drop it into whatever folder you want. From there, open up your command prompt, navigate to the directory where youtube-dl.exe is sitting, and type this: youtube-dl.exe [path/to/your/video/file] and it’ll automatically grab the video in the highest available quality right into your current folder. For example:

youtube-dl.exe

And that’s pretty much it...

How am I even supposed to get this YouTube downloader to launch? I download the thing, try to open it, and all I get is this black window that pops up for maybe two seconds before it just vanishes into thin air. Then nothing. Just dead silence.

Don't try to run it directly; instead, move it into its own folder and follow those instructions he gave you earlier using the command prompt.

I was watching some tutorials on YouTube about using youtube-dl, and I think I figured out how to get the command prompt open. So, I launch cmd.exe, and there’s just that blank black screen staring back at me. I pasted the youtube-dl command along with the video link right onto that black background, but absolutely nothing happens. It's just sitting there. I'm totally lost on what the next step is supposed to be
