Should I pull the trigger on this dextrose or not?

Look, if you thought you actually knew something before this, welcome to reality. You walk onto this forum and realize you're clueless—and honestly, you might stay that way forever. 😁

Chris Nelson26 said:What now? 🙂

Should I buy this dextrose or not?

If you thought you knew anything before, just realize upon joining this forum that you actually know nothing—and you might never find out. 😁

Of course you'll buy it. 😉 Most people training seriously drink dextrose, and there's plenty of research proving it works. It’s a no-brainer.

Meanwhile, the crowd on this forum is still terrified they'll develop diabetes from dextrose, yet somehow a Snickers bar won't do the trick. 🙂

I honestly don't know a single person who actually takes dextrose... it feels like a totally useless supplement to me, I guess.

Who knows, maybe you live in Antarctica then... Because looking at my gym here in Washington, D.C., 95 percent of the crowd uses dextrose. That includes beginners, intermediates, and even the pro bodybuilders who actually understand how this stuff works.

Should I actually go ahead and grab this dextrose or what?

Just buy it, man. It's already sitting in your DM anyway.

If you thought you knew stuff before, just wait until you log onto this forum... you'll realize you don't know a thing, and honestly, maybe you never will. 😁

Well, that's just the beauty of living in a democracy, I guess! 😁

I picked it up at Dick's Sporting Goods in Ozark, Steve! Don't try to patronize me via DM just because I'm a girly girl. 🙂

Though, if it wasn't like five minutes from my house, I might actually check my DM... 😁

Susan Sullivan6 said:Whether you're an athlete or just some regular person doesn't really change things; a normal guy can probably knock back 20+ servings of fruit without any issues, assuming you're careful about sticking to organic stuff if possible.
As for pregnant women, I wouldn't know—I've never been pregnant myself.😁

🤣
I was mostly asking about what constitutes "too much," and the rest of my comments were just regarding how fast food gets broken down and used up by the body.
Twenty servings? 😲
Google is a wonderful tool, isn't it? I highly doubt we're actually talking about twenty whole pieces of fruit here.

Re: So dextrose is basically just glucose? Just drink some sugar water and call it a day.🙂

But like, WHY though? I see guys at my gym all the time lugging around five different tubs of powder, working out way longer than I do, yet we end up doing the exact same workout... except after we finish, I just head off to boxing while they totally crash.

crimsonfox26 said:I was mostly asking about what counts as "too much," and I brought up the rest just because of how fast everything breaks down—basically, how quickly your body burns through what you eat.

See, that’s exactly where the issue lies—it's all about the metabolic speed. Like, fructose from sodas or corn syrup is pretty nasty for you, whereas whole fruit is fine because the fiber slows down the digestion process.

crimsonfox26 said:Over 20 servings? 😲
Ugh, I hate having to Google stuff. I mean, it probably doesn't actually mean 20 individual pieces of fruit, right?

Honestly, it's not clear to me either. That study I read last night didn't specify the exact amount, so I'm guessing it means something like a few pieces of fruit per serving.

And honestly, the whole "it's good just because everyone else is doing it" logic is easily the most brilliant argument I've ever heard. 🙏 😁

crimsonfox26 said:So... is dextrose actually just glucose?

Yeah, totally!
It’s also called grape sugar or just plain old Candy.

I mean, maybe you could use those names just to confuse some girls or even the folks over at Walmart, you know? Just so they can't find what you're looking for.

Just enough to confuse some girls or maybe a clerk at Walmart so they can't easily look up whatever you're talking about.

😁
Me: Excuse me, do you happen to have any glucose candy?
Clerk: What on earth is that? 😲

It just hit me that there used to be these specific little glucose treats back in the day; they were my absolute favorite whenever one of the older folks would hand me one.

I guess that explains why I bulked up so fast—I was basically raised on nothing but dextrose during my childhood. 👍

I’m just sitting here snacking on some raisins because there isn't a damn Walmart for miles in this neck of the woods. I went ahead and ordered myself some whey protein online, even though I don't really need it yet, I guess...

That’s probably why I got bulked up so fast; nothing but pure dextrose during my childhood.👍

Betty Sanders said:Lol... wait, so that's what you guys are actually talking about! 🤣 I mean, honestly... what kind of loser actually swears by that? I don't know. It just seems so... I guess you could say desperate? Maybe I'm being too harsh, but seriously, who does that? 🤣

So, like, most of them—maybe like 95%—are just those typical gyms, you know? But I don't really count those because they just have a David Beckham poster hanging on the wall or something. And honestly, that doesn't make it a real gym. Not that I'm David, obviously. I guess. 😁

@crimsonfox26/">@@crimsonfox26, I honestly can’t recall the packaging or even what the candy actually looked like—that was ages ago. All I know is my aunt always kept some on hand, and she handed them out like they were holy relics...
It’s like those old-school propolis lozenges from Rockefeller Center, just pure bliss.
But let me not wander too far off topic here...

Anyway, congrats 🎉 if you aren't totally screwing things up 😬

Grapes, though... are they dried?
If there's one thing I can't stand, it's raisins. Just the thought of them makes my skin crawl; whenever I spot them hiding in a muffin or a cake, I immediately steer clear of 🤣

As for me, I have a tub of whey protein just gathering dust in my pantry. It’s become a bit of a ritual: every time I convince myself I'm finally getting serious about hitting the gym, I'll impulsively order more protein powder. That burst of motivation usually lasts maybe a month before I start sipping it occasionally, get sick of the taste, and eventually give up on the whole thing entirely.😁
