At this point, it remains the most sensible choice within the budget; one wouldn't want to be looking back later wondering why they didn't opt for something more premium.$667 🍿

Well... I guess you could grab a Gigabyte R9 280 x (which is about 10-20% faster) at Future for $687 on sale 😬

You could pick up a Gigabyte R9 280 x—which, mind you, runs about 10-20% faster than the standard model—over at Future for... $687 Is there anything more enticing than a well-timed sale? It seems we have finally reached that moment where everything is on sale. 😬

I wouldn't dream of buying anything from there; I’d insist on paying via cash on delivery instead. ☕

I am planning to place my order next week—hopefully getting everything squared away before Easter—but I want to hear your thoughts first. Is this setup truly top-tier, or am I missing something? $667 Even when I attempt to steer clear of them, if we are looking at the broader Gigabyte lineup, I simply cannot find a better value for the money. 🍿

These two AMD 7770 cards are starting to get on my last nerve. It’s as if I don't even have two separate units at my disposal, but rather just one single card. To make matters worse, when I try running the latest PC hits, I actually see a higher score using only one graphics card than I do when I attempt to run them with both installed. Why does this even happen? 🤦

I am currently in the market for a new graphics card, primarily driven by the upcoming PC release of Grand Theft Auto V. My goal is to ensure that I can run the game smoothly on at least medium settings, as I anticipate it will be quite demanding on hardware. Let’s face it—having only 1 GB of VRAM isn't even sufficient for basic tasks anymore, let alone modern gaming. As for power consumption, that shouldn't be an issue for me; my current power supply is a robust 1000W unit, so I have plenty of headroom there.

I have lost the technician who handled my hardware assembly—though I am perfectly comfortable navigating the software side of things myself—so now I find myself in the position of having to start from scratch. $50 Is it truly worth my time to drop off a computer at some local repair shop in Chicago just to have a graphics card installed? It is a task that takes mere minutes, yet one wonders if the hassle of the commute and the inevitable service fee actually justifies the effort. Should I really be handing over my hardware to a stranger for such a trivial procedure? $50) 🤦

Brian Campbell36 said:I'm placing my order next week (so I can get it sorted before Easter), you guys say this is top-tier up to $667 (which I always try to avoid) within the Gigabyte brand—honestly, I can't find anything better for the money🍿

These two AMD 7770 cards are seriously starting to get on my nerves; it's like I don't even have dual graphics, I just have one. I've even seen better scores on recent PC benchmarks using a single card rather than two together.🤦

I'm picking up this card specifically because GTA V is coming to PC, and I want to make sure it runs smoothly on medium settings. That game is going to be demanding, and obviously, 1 GB of VRAM isn't enough anymore even for basic stuff. Power isn't an issue, though; my PSU is a solid 1000W.

I lost touch with the guy who used to build my hardware (though I know my way around software), so I'll probably end up dropping $50 at a local computer repair shop in San Diego just to have them install the card. It'll take them three minutes and cost me $50... 🤦

Why would you pay someone else to install a graphics card? 🤔 It is literally just clicking it into the slot and plugging the power cable in. You just update the drivers and you're done; there is really nothing you can mess up. It's a waste of $50 to pay for that... 🕺

When one is investing this much money into a component, is it not reasonable to want to ensure everything goes perfectly? I would much rather hand it over to a professional who can handle the installation flawlessly than risk any complications myself. 🍿

Brian Campbell36 said:I'm dropping a ton of cash on this thing, so I don't want anything going wrong. Better to just pay a pro to install it perfectly in one go. 🍿

A pro? 🤣 You don't need to be an expert to plug in a GPU. 😛 Look, your money and your card, it's your call, but I'm telling you that you're just throwing money away $50 on installation fees when you could instead put that extra $50 toward the actual hardware—like grabbing an AMD Radeon R9 280 X instead of just a 280 😬. Installation is literally just clicking it into the slot.

Come on, you can't be that clueless about plugging in a GPU... just watch a YouTube tutorial. You're basically throwing money down the drain paying a shop for something that simple.

It’s honestly not that deep—I built my first rig solo just by scrolling through a few YouTube tutorials. If you’re planning on paying someone to do the labor (which makes sense if you're nervous), then go for it 😵

Precisely my point. If the card doesn't seat perfectly into the motherboard's PCIe slot, we risk an eventual hardware failure, and I have no desire to deal with the subsequent headache. It would mean coming back later to repaste the CPU and GPU, cleaning out the entire system, performing hardware upgrades, and so on.

There isn't really any way to mess this up. It’s either going into the slot or it isn't. Honestly, it falls into the "do it yourself" category—you get all the instructions you need anyway.

Well... you have an AMD Radeon R9 280 X (which is about 10-20% faster) on sale at Best Buy for $687.

Regarding what my fellow forum member is suggesting—is there really no better graphics card available for under $667?🤔

I don't intend to spend more than
.

Someone just swooped in and grabbed all the cookies, so they're gone. On a different note, those Gigabyte cards you mentioned are top-tier quality.

For two bucks, this is definitely the best deal

If I am committing two grand, then this represents the absolute peak

of value right now.

Since I am prepared to drop two thousand dollars, wouldn't it be logical to demand a three-year warranty? I have officially received the green light to invest those two grand into a GPU 🍿

I would likely purchase it from Best Buy.

as you mentioned:

I'm thinking of passing on this one.

Personally, I wouldn't pull the trigger because the price gap with the R9 290 is just too narrow. Besides, once you start overclocking a 280, you're basically getting performance right in line with a 280X.

Timothy Kim60 said:yet you previously asserted:

In my estimation, it is hardly a logical choice, given how closely its price point shadows the R9 290; furthermore, once one applies an overclock to the 280, does it not perform roughly on par with the 280X?

Provided the card functions correctly, $33 it will likely be 🍿 acceptable enough.

The Gigabyte R9 280 3GB WF3 OC, featuring 3GB of GDDR5 and a 384bit bus, arrives this Monday. 🍿

Ultimately, I suspect the final cost will end up being $650, largely due to the strengthening of the dollar.

As for whether it will fit inside my chassis, I am assuming it should accommodate a http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mid-tower/haf-xm/-style mid-tower case.
