Brenda Lee2 said:Is it possible to do something like this in Microsoft Excel? Say I have the number "352" in a cell, and I want to hit a plus button to bump it up or a minus button to drop it down. If not exactly that, maybe something close?

If that number is sitting in cell A1, just copy this macro into that specific
Sheet
Code:

Sub plus() Application.EnableCancelKey = xlDisabled Application Application.ScreenUpdating = False range Range("A1") = Range("A1").Value + 1 end Sub Sub minus Sub minus() Application.EnableCancelKey = xlDisabled Application Application.ScreenUpdating = False range Range("A1") = Range("A1").Value - 1 end Sub
Then just toss two buttons on the sheet for the + and -
Check out the screenshots at the link—I even put a downloadable example here

On the sheet itself, just set up two buttons—one for plus and one for minus.
For instance, check out the screenshots at the link, and I’ve also included a downloadable example here.

Can you walk me through the whole process in more detail? Something isn't clicking for me.

I sent you links so you could dig into it yourself, but alright, fine.

1. Copy those macros into the VBE on Sheet your excel where you're doing the plus/minus stuff (ALT+F11). Or just right-click the sheet tab then View Code and paste the macro there.
2. Create Sheet Button1 and assign the Sub plus macro to it.
3. Create Sheet Button2 and assign the Sub minus macro to it.
4. Change the button text to ( + and - ).

You gotta roll up your sleeves and actually do it if you want to learn (plus, there’s tons of tutorials online).

I hope you actually assigned those macros to the buttons.

Hey there,
As someone who’s just starting to get serious about using Microsoft Word for data management, I've been wrestling with a bit of a headache. I put together my own contact directory, and honestly, it grows every single day. I managed to get everything sorted alphabetically, which was a start, but now I’m stuck. Is there any way to "force" Microsoft Word to jump straight to a specific letter so I don't have to spend half my life scrolling through the whole list with a mouse? I'm hoping that makes sense. For instance, if I need to find someone under 'M', I want to be there instantly. Thanks in advance.

This might be a bit much for some of you to wrap your heads around, but if you actually have the willpower, you can probably fix this mess yourself!!!
If you're running Microsoft Word 2007, check out this link
If you're still stuck using an older version, try this one

Both of these links explain how to properly set up a Table of Contents in Microsoft Word. Right now, your headings are just showing up as A, B, C, D, E, F....Z. Once you manage to get the Table of Contents working correctly, head over to this link http://office.microsoft.com/hr-hr/wo...65929.aspx#BM3. It walks you through how to create hyperlinks within an existing document. The whole point is that when you click a specific entry in your table of contents, Microsoft Word will instantly jump you to the exact page you linked to.

Good luck!

I’m an old-timer just getting my feet wet with Word and juggling a bunch of info. I've been building this phone directory of mine, and man, it just keeps growing every single day.

Honestly, after everything @alhidada told you, my advice is just ditch Word and move over to Microsoft Excel. It'll save you a massive headache. Copying all that stuff into Microsoft Excel shouldn't be too hard. Once it's in there, finding what you need is a breeze because of filtering.

1. Filtering data in Microsoft Excel
2. Using Microsoft Excel filters for quick searches

Alright, here’s another one for you to chew on, take it or leave it:
First off, go ahead and set up your content just like we discussed—or however you’ve already laid it out—using headers like A, B, C, and so on. Then, somewhere near the top of your document, create a little index table. Personally, I’m a big fan of tables (though they aren't strictly mandatory), and you'll use this to list out the alphabet.
Now, follow these steps carefully:
Let's say you want to link to the letter A. Go down to your index of names where all the last names starting with A are listed. Highlight that specific letter "A," head over to the Insert tab, click on >, and in the > field, just type "A" and hit Add. Once that's done, jump back up to that little index table you made at the start. Highlight the letter A there, go to Insert again, select >, choose "Place in this document" on the left side, and then pick that "A" you just created from the > list on the right. Hit OK. Just repeat that whole tedious process for every other letter in the alphabet. (By the way, once you're done, that "A" in your index table should show up underlined).
If everything worked correctly, clicking that "A" in your index table and hitting Ctrl+Enter should zip you straight down to the actual section for A.

Hey there! I was wondering if you might be able to lend me a hand with this particular formula here...

Could you perhaps walk me through the process of how one actually goes about implementing this specific formula within Microsoft Excel?

I'm currently working on some scriptwriting. Just yesterday and today, I've been hitting Ctrl + S to save my work, just like anyone else would.
Does anyone else deal with Microsoft Word crashing three separate times right after hitting the save shortcut? I actually had to rewrite my entire text from scratch.
Is this happening to you too whenever you try to save a document using the keyboard shortcut?

What’s actually the best software out there for designing posters?

Are you actually planning on using photos for your poster?

In my opinion, posters should really be designed using vector graphics software.
If you want something free, go with Inkscape.
If you're willing to pay, then there's Adobe Illustrator.

I wasn't actually thinking about using a digital photo for the poster—what I had in mind was having just the athlete's body as the background. Thanks for the help!

I’ve tried downloading a few different versions of Microsoft Office to get my work done, but none of them actually function. Anyone else run into this kind of headache? Any suggestions on which version actually works without crashing? I’m in a serious bind here—I have to finish this entire report by tomorrow.🙄

Did any of you guys run into similar issues while working on your papers? Any recommendations on which version I should grab that won't crash on me? I'm in a bit of a time crunch since I need to finish this entire report by tomorrow.🙄

Have you tried the free version yet? I've been spending quite a bit of time lately playing around with LibreOffice. It’s actually pretty interesting to see how much you can get done with it! Sometimes I find myself missing the familiarity of Microsoft Office, but there's definitely something to be said for having these different tools at your disposal. It keeps things interesting, you know? Or are you really holding out for Microsoft Office?

Correction on my last post—everything was going smoothly while I was just typing away, but then it hit me: I actually need to open some specific files that require Microsoft Office, and right now, nothing is working.

So, my bad. I really need a solid version of Microsoft Office 2010 that actually works. I tried downloading one that turned out to be a total malware nightmare, and another one wouldn't even launch.🙄

I’m pretty sure asking for pirated software is against the rules on this forum.

So, sorry about that! I really need a solid version of Office from back in 2010 for school. One version I downloaded ended up being full of viruses, and another one just wouldn't even launch.🙄

I'm a little confused by the "have to use Word" part. Have you tried opening those Word documents in LibreOffice Writer? It handles both .doc and .docx formats pretty well. Unless, of course, the file has some crazy formatting quirks that only the official Microsoft software can process properly.

Hey everyone,

I’ve been scratching my head over something lately. Does anyone know the name of the specific template or plugin used for those smooth zoom in/zoom out animations in PowerPoint? A few years back, I saw this presentation where the transitions weren't just basic fades—it would zoom out from one slide, shift the perspective slightly to the right, and then dive straight into the next slide. It looked incredibly slick, almost cinematic, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called or where you even go to download it.

Thanks!
