So now what?
We can't exactly play guessing games with whatever error you're seeing. Just grab a screenshot and post it, or type out the exact message so we can actually help you.
Honestly, the fastest way is to just type out the error and Google it.

Hi everyone! A friend of mine is working on a term paper and she’s currently struggling with setting up page numbers.
She tried to figure it out herself, but things went a little sideways—as they often do! The goal is to have the numbering actually start on the third page with the number "3." That way, the first two pages stay completely blank, and the count officially kicks off right there on page three (which makes sense, 😁 logically speaking!
).
Every time I try to step in and help her fix it, I just run into these confusing prompts—telling me to click the Home button, then navigate to Multilevel List, and then something about Headings and Footers. 😕😕😕

I would really appreciate some guidance here because I am honestly a bit lost. Every time I attempt to set this up, I either get stuck in that loop of clicking through the Home tab options, or I end up with the exact same number appearing on every single page—except for the very first one, which stays blank.

I think this is the fix... it’s technically for the 2003 version, but the logic should be identical.

http://www.zaslike.com/files/hbzljeorf5lm2av3urga.jpg

Go ahead and hit Insert, then grab Page Numbers from the dropdown menu. A little window will pop up. You'll need to click on Page Number Format in the bottom left corner, which opens up another dialog box. Just check the "Start at" box, type in the page number you want—in this case, 3—and that should do the trick.

I sure am—and yet, somehow, it keeps labeling the second page as number 4. It makes absolutely no sense! Would you mind if I sent the file over to you so you can take a look at what's going wrong?

Check this link for a step-by-step breakdown on how to handle page numbering starting from the third page in Word 2007. Your specific tweak is in step 5 of the dialog box (under "Page Number formatting"): just set the Start at field to 3.

I put together an Excel sheet to track soccer scores. I have one sheet where I log Team A, Team B, and the score (like 3:1), then everything calculates automatically—points, goals scored, goals conceded—and feeds into a master standings sheet sorted by goal differential and all that. I’ve got a hidden helper sheet doing the heavy lifting too. Now I’m trying to build out a third sheet for deeper stats, but I've hit a wall. I need to pull the biggest win and biggest loss for each specific club, plus identify the single largest margin of victory and defeat for the entire league (including which teams were involved). So far, I’ve been splitting the scores into separate cells using formulas like (=VALUE(LEFT(C2,FIND(":",C2)-1))) and (=VALUE(RIGHT(C2,LEN(C2)-FIND(":",C2)))) to isolate home and away goals, but I can't figure out how to calculate the max win or loss for an individual team. Anyone have any ideas or a way to tackle this?

Just upload the file somewhere so we aren't all just guessing here.🙂

Here’s the link to download the spreadsheet.

The password to open it is football.
The data I was looking for is on the last statistics page.
If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it.

Hi there!

Does anyone know if there's a way within Word to take the text I've written and have it print upside down, like rotated 180 degrees?

If that isn't an option, is there perhaps another program out there that could handle something like that?

Thanks so much in advance!!

Where can I find the proofing tools for American English in Word 2007?

I downloaded a couple of things—tried to make them work—but they’re totally useless 😢

There are actually a few ways you can pull off printing text backwards or upside down.

- Throw your text into a table cell and rotate it 180
- Put the text in a TextBox and just rotate it (Flip)

If that doesn't click, check out these links

Can't really help you out. I don't have the bandwidth to dive deep and try to figure out "what the poet meant."

I reckon you should just go ahead and add two new Sheets—label them "wins" and "losses."
Pull the data for the clubs, the home team, and the away team from those, then just feed that info through... Let's talk VLOOKUP. Maybe on the Statistics Sheet. Or honestly, just use whatever function works—it all really comes down to how you decide to organize and structure your data.

Just add three helper columns to the Results sheet—home wins, away wins, and draws—then pull that data based on whatever club is listed in column A or B.
Look, I think you messed up by jamming the whole result into one cell. If you absolutely have to do it that way, fine—but at least add three more cells to break it down. You need to split that result up based on whether it's greater than or less than... IF functions. You can easily pull the winning team, or just break that result down into specific parameters to use for your next calculation. If you end up merging them back together later, just use a function. concatenate

Here's that file back. Take a quick look at what I added to the Results Sheet.

Help me out here,
I totally messed up while building a pivot table. In one of the columns pulling from another worksheet via a VLOOKUP, I accidentally selected the entire column instead of just the data range. Now, in the sheet where that VLOOKUP lives, everything from my actual data down to the bottom of the spreadsheet is showing those annoying #N/A errors. It’s making my file size absolutely massive. How do I unselect the whole damn column and fix this?
This might be a total rookie move, but I'm stuck and honestly don't know what else to try. 🙂

I've run into a bit of a snag and I'd be pretty grateful if someone could point me toward a direct link, since I can't seem to track it down. Basically, I have an American version of Microsoft Office Home and Student and I'm trying to download it online so I can just enter the password, especially since my laptop doesn't even have a DVD drive. I just can't find the right download page anywhere. thanks in advance

What do you mean you can't help? You solved it! Just use CONCATENATE 🙂 and call it a day. Thanks a lot.

Alright, if that was the only issue.
Just ignore my columns, man. Stick to yours on the Result Sheet—it’s basically just duplicating data anyway, so it's all the same thing.

Hey there!

Quick question for you guys:
How on earth do I scrub away all these leftover table remnants (basically Word relics) in Excel? I just want my clean numbers and raw data, nothing else!
I tried copying some stuff over from Word, but man, it brought all those annoying formatting ghosts along with it. What’s the fastest way to wipe the slate clean?
