The level of expertise you have regarding supplements is clearly reflected in those recommendations you made above.
I’ll just point out that aspartame isn't even the main issue here; most manufacturers now swap it out for sucralose, which is just as questionable from a health standpoint. This whole thing is nothing more than a marketing ploy designed to stroke the egos of people who lack experience and don't know the first thing about supplements. If you want to get technical, Dymatize makes a powder sweetened with stevia extract called Dymatize ISO100. So, if you're trying to be "healthier" than the rest of us, try using that instead.🙂

That aspartame is in your gum too, so watch out there 😁

Man, they're telling you the truth. If it isn't aspartame, then it’s some other junk you definitely don't want

Hey.. I decided to go with MuscleTech ( http://www.building-body.com/shop/pr...n_a/ ) ...can anyone tell me when's the best time to take it on training days versus rest days?

Dear all, I was wondering if anyone here might know if MuscleTech has recently changed the granulation of their 100% isolate product... It seems to me that the powder in my previous container had a much finer, more powdery consistency, whereas this latest batch feels somewhat coarser than before...

Take it after your workout.

You'll get more bang for your buck if you just buy some Whey protein and creatine separately. Honestly, the formula in this MuscleTech stuff is pretty mediocre. Just mix a shake with whey + creatine + carbs... you'll get better results and save money at the same time.

Hey, I'm looking for some recommendations on decent, high-quality whey protein. Honestly, I’m pretty clueless about this stuff.

I want to grab a bigger tub—basically the largest size available—so I don't have to deal with buying more for a while.

From what I've gathered, most people just toss some protein into their breakfast or shake it up right after a workout.

But what about rest days? Do you still take it even when you aren't hitting the gym?

Also, how much am I actually supposed to be taking if I'm sitting at about 165 lbs?

Thanks

Besides just mixing everything with milk, what are some other ways I could actually get my protein intake up?

Is it actually possible to put on weight using whey protein, and is it worth taking right after a gym session?

@Jamie Smith71/">@@Jamie Smith71 man, that's the struggle because one scoop is sitting at like 130 calories alone...
@Richard Rivera5/">@@Richard Rivera5 water, obviously. But honestly? If you mix it with milk, it tastes way better.

I realized I’ve still got about 2 pounds of whey protein left in a large 5-pound jar—it shows an expiration date of March 2011. By my quick math, that leftover amount is worth roughly $83, and honestly, it feels like a waste to just toss 😁
.
The lid was kept tight, so the powder hasn't clumped up from moisture; it's still perfectly fine and powdery, and the smell and taste haven't changed at all. It doesn't seem spoiled, per se... however, I have absolutely no clue if there's any actual nutritional value left in it after all this time.

I also have half a container of creatine sitting there from September 2011, which I assume would still be perfectly functional.

What’s your take on this?

The lid was shut tight, the powder didn't pick up any moisture and it's still totally fine and powdery; I don't notice anything weird with the smell or the taste. So, I wouldn't say it's actually spoiled... but, I guess I have no clue if there's even any nutritional value left in it at this point.

It does.

I also have half a container of creatine sitting here (dated 09/2011), which I'm guessing would still be pretty useful.

What do you guys think?

Man, I'm not totally sure about that one.
Maybe just drink it for a couple days straight; if it doesn't absolutely wreck your stomach, then it’s probably fine. 😁

Please don't crucify me immediately for my protein shake choices, but I figured I’d start with the budget-friendly option. I'm trying to drop about 10 pounds, so I decided to swap my breakfast for a protein shake from Walmart... It works in the sense that it keeps me completely full, but within thirty to sixty minutes, it leaves me incredibly bloated. Gas, and honestly, even a couple of bouts of diarrhea so far. I know certain foods or stress can make me feel bloated generally, but I can never pinpoint the exact culprit, so it's always a bit of a lottery😁 but I am certain about this one because it has happened every single morning for two weeks straight.
Anyway, I'm done drinking this stuff. Does anyone have suggestions for an alternative? Ideally something that won't break the bank. Just to be clear, I work out three times a week and try to eat as healthy as possible throughout the day.

Thanks!

Look, if you're going to insist on replacing a whole meal with supplements (which, let's be honest, isn't exactly a great idea), wouldn't it be better to swap out your dinner instead of breakfast?

Clearly you're dealing with lactose and whey sensitivity...

Walmart carries their own soy milk brand, so just grab some for breakfast along with dried figs, fruit, and some cereal

I always take my whey even if the expiration is within six months. I still have 500g left and haven't had any side effects so far...😁

Hey everyone!

I have a few questions about protein supplements and some other stuff.

I'm a complete beginner when it comes to protein shakes, but I'm planning to start now. I've been hitting the gym for a few months, but I'm finally getting serious about building muscle mass. I'm 6'0" and weigh about 170 lbs. I go to the gym three times a week, and I was thinking about having my protein only after my workouts. How many scoops would you recommend, and what should I mix it with? Should I use water, glucose, glutamine, or something else? And what amounts? My diet is pretty bad right now, so any advice on breakfast or snack ideas would be great (for dinner, I usually just stick to cottage cheese or tuna). Also, I read somewhere that you shouldn't drink protein after cardio, which confused me because I always do 20 minutes of running before I start lifting. Will doing cardio first slow down my muscle growth?
I'm a bit out of the loop here, so please help me get up to speed on everything I need to know. Sorry if I'm rambling too much.

Thanks a lot,🙂🙂🙂

Does anyone know if there's a whey protein out there that doesn't use soy lecithin? I've got an allergy to soy and soy derivatives.

Thanks

I've been hitting the gym for a couple of months, but I'm finally getting serious about building some actual muscle mass. I'm about 6 feet tall and weigh roughly 170 lbs. I hit the gym three times a week, and I'm thinking about just having my protein right after my workouts. How many scoops do you guys recommend, and what should I mix it with? (Water, glucose, glutamine, and how much of all that?) My diet is pretty terrible right now, so what do you suggest for breakfast and snacks? (For dinner, I usually go with cottage cheese or tuna.) Also, I'm curious about something else—I read somewhere that you shouldn't take protein after cardio, which confused me because I always do 20 minutes of running before I start lifting. I'm totally lost here, so please help me out and get me up to speed on everything I need to know. Sorry if I'm rambling too much.

Thanks a ton🙂🙂🙂

Just one scoop (around 30 grams) is plenty. Mix it with about a pint of water or milk along with some glucose. Honestly, skip the glutamine; save that cash for actual food. As for eating, eat everything, but try to stick to clean whole foods... maybe start your day with carbs, then shift toward protein as the day goes on, and wrap things up with cottage cheese—that's a solid dinner choice. Since you're aiming for muscle growth, remember that you won't see results unless you're in a caloric surplus. That means you have to eat more than you burn, so watch out with all that running. Just eat! 😉
