You only read part of it? 🙄Here’s the part that actually addresses the question..
Joshua Garcia8 said:If he put down fake info when signing up, I don't think any of this matters.

Check out that sportsbook's rules. I'm pretty sure they require scanned documents, so if the registration info doesn't match his ID, they probably won't approve it.

Alright, I could really use some guidance here. I’m essentially a complete novice when it comes to online sports betting—I’m actually just thinking about dipping my toes in for the very first time. Since it’s been about three years since the last post in this thread, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to point me in the right direction. Specifically, which sportsbook would you recommend for someone just starting out? I don't really grasp the nuances that experienced bettors look for yet, so any advice on which platform offers the fastest and most straightforward payouts would be huge. Also, if you could weigh in on which sites feel the most secure and reliable, I’d truly appreciate it!

Thanks a bunch!
(I moved this post over from another thread, so please help me out!)

Since it's been three years since my last post, would anyone mind telling me which sportsbook is best for beginners? (Not that I really get the difference between us and the pros). Also, looking for the fastest and easiest payouts, and anything else regarding security being top-notch.

Thanks!

Sportsbooks vary wildly. Before you pick one, check their actual offerings. You don't want to sign up only to realize they don't have the specific markets or types of betting you actually care about. Live betting odds aren't the same everywhere either. There’s no magic rule; it all depends on what you’re hunting for.

I'm not sure how you plan to fund your account—whether it's via Visa Electron, a standard credit or debit card, Moneybookers, PayPal, or something else—but make sure the site supports whatever method you prefer for both deposits and withdrawals.

Whatever site you choose, don't use fake info during registration. Most places will cross-reference your details with your ID before they let you take your first withdrawal.

Personally, I know for a fact I'll never touch Bet-at-home, and neither will I use Bwin. 🤷 The first one has terrible odds and selection, and the second is too quick to limit you. To keep things simple, just don't go making massive bets right off the bat...

Take a look at these:
Pinnacle
Bet365
Unibet

Also, check the minimum deposit amounts. Some sites require more than $20 or $30 just to get started, so see if that works for you. Pay attention to bonuses, too, but read the fine print. Most places require you to wager your deposit plus the bonus three times over before you can withdraw. Most importantly, just learn the house rules.

There are plenty of reviews online; give those a read too.

@Christian Miller48/">@@Christian Miller48 check this out http://www.sportsbookreview.com/

I’d personally vouch for Bet365—their live betting selection is insane. But like @Joshua Garcia8/">@@Joshua Garcia8 said, you should probably just scope out everyone else's offerings first to see what fits.

Thanks to both of you, guys. I actually have a few more things I'm wondering about...

Joshua Garcia8 said:I'm not quite sure how you're planning to handle your deposits—whether you'll be going directly through a Visa Electron, using some other credit or debit card, or maybe sticking with Moneybookers or PayPal—but you should definitely double-check if the sportsbook actually supports the specific methods you prefer for moving money in and out.

My plan is to use a Visa Electron, so could you walk me through how that process actually works regarding deposits and withdrawals? Also, from what I've been reading online, it seems like some sportsbooks take forever to pay out while others are lightning-fast, and some won't pay out at all 🤷. Because of that, which bookmakers are actually the most reliable when it comes to getting your money back?

With Bet365, my money usually hit Moneybookers in about two days. Just a heads up though, they tweaked the rules recently; the minimum withdrawal to your account is either 120 USD or whatever amount you originally deposited via card... so it’s probably smarter to deposit via Bank Account, like Skrill. From what I gather, there aren't any limits there.

I just got an email from Bet-at-home letting me know I can deposit and withdraw funds directly to a friend's betting account using my Moneybookers... provided I haven't already been using that specific Moneybookers account to move money to Bet-at-home before.

Do these betting sites have specific rules, like a minimum number of legs you need to include on a single parlay, or maybe a minimum bet amount and such?

And one more thing

@Bryan Adams6/">@@Bryan Adams6, does that mean I have to deposit at least $120 just to be able to register, and then I also need to have that same amount sitting in my account before I can even think about withdrawing, or did I totally misunderstand how this works?

@Bryan Adams6/">@@Bryan Adams6, are you saying I need to deposit at least $120 just to register, and then I also need to have that same amount sitting in my account if I want to actually withdraw it? Or did I totally miss the point here?

If I remember right, the minimum bet on Bet365 was only 0.50 USD.

Minimum deposit is 10 USD, but honestly, skip Bet365 for now. They’ve got this 100% sign-up bonus up to 100 USD—basically, you put in 100 and they toss in another 100—but that bonus isn't valid in the US right now. Just register whenever they make it available for us again. It'd be a total waste not to grab it.

Start with Expekt, Gamebookers, or Partybets—they all have bonuses.

Once you register, just hit deposit, pick Credit/Debit Card, and punch in your card info and expiration date. For the Card Security Number, just use those three digits on the back. Enter the amount you want to load and confirm. If everything checks out, the cash hits your account instantly.

As for payouts, you're usually looking at two or three days before the money hits your bank account.
I can personally vouch for Bet365 and Unibet—never had a single issue getting paid.

So, which ones do you think are actually better overall?

And what’s the deal with signing up at Bet365? Am I tripping, or do they actually mail some kind of physical stuff to your house to verify everything?

Joshua Garcia8 said:An account for online betting that's just useless? If they used fake info during registration, then yeah, they're basically screwed. And this whole thing about his friend being out at sea... sounds like a stretch to me. So what if he's on a boat? It's not like he'll lose internet access forever, right? That part feels pretty forced.

Man, you really need to check that sportsbook's rules. Pretty sure they require scanned copies of IDs. If the info from the signup doesn't match the documents, they aren't going to approve anything.

You're wrong. 🙂
For credit card stuff, they need a scan or a photo, sure, but if they're withdrawing to a bank account, they can usually send the money there without any extra verification. 😉

Obviously, the main thing is making sure they pay it out to that exact same bank account.

Between Unibet and Bet365, I’d go with Bet365.
Signing up is easy. Just a heads-up though—you'll need to send over a scanned ID before you can make your first withdrawal.
I think they’re mailing something to my house for verification, but honestly, I can't quite remember what it was. 🤔 You have to enter that number you get in the mail somewhere in your profile, or something like that.

Of course, the main thing is that they pay out to that same Bank Account.

Maybe you don't even need a Bank Account for this. 🤷

Signing up is a breeze, though you'll have to upload a scan of your ID before you can pull out your first payout.
If I remember right, they might mail something to your house for verification—some kind of code or something... 🤔you just gotta plug that number from the mail into your profile settings or whatever.

Maybe you don't need to do that for a Bank Account transfer. 🤷

I didn't have to scan anything, but maybe that's because I was withdrawing straight to my Bank Account. 😍

Plus, nothing ever showed up in my mailbox. 😢

Yeah, looks like that’s the trick.

I’m actually thinking about switching over to a Bank Account. I asked once if anyone had experience with it, but nobody even bothered to reply. 😢

A Bank Account isn't online betting per se, but since they're linked, we can talk shop here.
What's the drill—registration and all that? How long does the whole thing take? I'm guessing moving money from the Bank Account to the sportsbook is instant, but getting a payout back to the account takes a few days, right? Do they need me to send documents? If so, which ones, and how do you send them—just an upload? And what about the currency situation? Can I pick my own, or do they just force whatever currency is used in my home country on me? One more thing, and then I'll leave you alone—what are the fees like? Is it a percentage or a flat fee, and do they pull that "one free transfer a month" stunt where they charge you for everything else? You probably should have just kept your mouth shut. 🙂

A Bank Account isn't online gambling, but it's linked to the same stuff, so we can talk about it here.
What's the deal with the procedure—registration and all that? How long does the whole thing take? You really went overboard with the questions. 🙂

After the game 😍

Or better yet, right now. If anyone playing for Benfica, Napoli, or Lyon ruins my parlays today, I won't be in the mood later. 😍
Wow... you really put a lot of effort into those questions, didn't you? 🙂

As for registration, it's been ages so I don't remember every detail, but it wasn't anything complicated. It's the kind of thing you'd remember. 😉
My currency is USD, which works fine for me, so I haven't bothered changing it. My money hits my account in USD.
Depositing via card is instant, with a 1.9% fee. Doing it through the bank... there's no fee, but it says it takes 2-5 days, though I haven't actually tried that.
My withdrawal limit is currently 7000 USD (over 90 days). I can bump it to 10k if I verify my address... since I'm nowhere near hitting that first limit, I haven't bothered increasing it. I assume you just need to upload a scan of a utility bill or something.
Withdrawals to my account take about 2-3 days.

Anything else? I'm here if you need me. 😉

So... you really went all out with all those questions. 🙂

As for the registration process, I can't quite recall—it was ages ago. But honestly, nothing about it felt complicated. If it had been a hassle, I definitely would've remembered. 😉
My currency is USD, which works perfectly for me. Didn't even bother trying to swap anything; the money hit my account in USD.
Using a card to fund my account is instant, though they take a 1.9% cut. Doing a bank transfer has zero commission, but the site says it takes 2–5 days. Honestly, I haven't actually tried that one yet. 🤷‍♂️
My withdrawal limit is sitting at $7,000 for a 90-day period right now. I could bump it up to $10k if I verify my address... but since I haven't even come close to hitting that first number yet, I haven't bothered increasing it. Probably just need to send over a scan of some utility bill or something.
The payout should hit my Bank Account in about 2 or 3 days.

Anything else? I'm on standby. 😉

Thanks, thanks. You covered all my questions. 😍

Your ticket's going to bust. Napoli is going to outplay them in the second half.

Got an email today:

Starting January 1st, 2012, the US version of the Unibet site is shutting down. Also, customer service won't be available in American anymore.

Don't worry, you're still a valued Unibet member. The only real change is we're ditching the American language support, but you'll still get all the same services in whatever language you actually want to use. Just let us know which one you prefer before January 1st. If we don't hear back by then, we're just switching your settings to English automatically.
Stick with Unibet for the latest promos, including the Christmas calendar
Thanks for choosing Unibet!

Joshua Garcia8 said:Yeah, looks like that's exactly where the catch is.

Honestly, I’m seriously thinking about just switching over to a Bank Account—I actually reached out once to see if anyone here had any real experience with it, but man, total radio silence. Not a single soul stepped up to help. 😢

Look, an MB account isn't exactly online gambling itself, but since it’s tied into the same ecosystem, we might as well talk about it here.
So, what’s the actual drill here—registration and all that jazz? How long does the whole thing take from start to finish? I’m assuming if I're hitting them up with a Bank Account transfer, the funds show up instantly, but pulling money back out to my Bank Account takes a few days or what? Also, do they demand paperwork? If they need documents, what kind of stuff are we talking about, and how do you actually send it over—I'm guessing it's just an upload, right? And what’s the deal with the currency situation? Can you actually pick which one you want to use, or do they just force whatever currency matches your home country on you? One last thing for now—and this should be enough to get me started—what are their fees like? Is it a percentage of the total or a flat fee, and do they pull that annoying move where the first one a month is free and then they nickel and dime you for everything else? Honestly, you probably should have just kept your mouth shut. 🙂

You can get registered almost instantly—it’ll take you maybe 15 minutes tops to knock out all those fields. Once that's done, just add a credit card or link a bank account (honestly, you can do both, or even throw in a few different ones if you want). Everything runs through your email—think of it as your username—so for heaven's sake, make sure you use an email address with a solid, secure password. Don't be that guy.
You’re almost certainly going to have to send over documents—not just because you want to bump up your limits (since being "fully verified" usually means higher transfer caps), but because they have to play by their whole "anti-money laundering policy" rulebook. You’ll be uploading scans of your ID, utility bills, bank statements, and all that jazz just so they can verify who you are and where you live. They might even go old-school and mail a physical code to your house to confirm your address. Verifying your account or card is pretty straightforward, too—for the bank account, you basically just deposit a few bucks, and for the card, they’ll run a tiny charge, maybe like $0.50 to $5.00, and then you just report back exactly how much they took. Just a heads-up though: be a little careful there and give it a couple of days before you try to enter the amount. Since you have to input the figure down to the cent, and banks sometimes tweak the display slightly—especially if there's any currency conversion involved—you don't want to get it wrong.
Look, if you're choosing between different currencies, my advice is simple: stick to whatever you already have sitting in your betting accounts. Why? Because those conversion fees absolutely murder your balance. It’s just plain stupid to get hit with double conversions—like going from the bookie to your Bank Account and then from your Bank Account to your main savings. You really want the same currency across the board—your bookies, your Bank Account, everything. If you're dealing in USD, just keep it all in USD. Some guy above already broke down the percentages for you, but honestly, it all depends on how "active" you are with the account and what you're actually using it for. If the bank flags you as a "commercial" account—meaning they think you're selling goods or services to private individuals—the fees will skyrocket. But if it's strictly for gaming purposes? It shouldn't be that bad. As for whether they charge a flat fee or a percentage, that just comes down to how you're depositing and withdrawing. When you put money into a bookie, it hits instantly. When you pull money out, though, it's a total crapshoot depending on which site you're using. Pinnacle, Leonbets, and Fonbet are basically lightning-fast—we're talking a few hours at most. If you're using US-based books, expect it to take a day or two. Then you've got B365, Expekt, and those other Scandinavian types, or Bwin, where it could take anywhere from a few hours to five whole days. Once the money actually leaves the bookie to go back to your bank, it just depends on how fast your bank moves—usually a couple of days max.
