Genius SP-HF 2.0 1250 speakers

So, what’s the verdict on these speakers?
They aren't even that pricey, I suppose, just a basic setup $103
I managed to dig up a few other options too

I don't think anyone in the States even carries them

^if you aren't looking for something super loud and just want fewer speakers on your desk, then honestly, they're totally fine for you.
But man, looking at the price difference, I really think it's worth tossing an extra five or ten bucks my way to grab the slightly beefier, larger ones instead... seriously, it's such a steal.
So, here’s what they look like sitting on a desk (just for scale, I put a 15.4'' laptop next to them):

And nope, no humming... I just tested them myself! It's middle of the night, everyone else is passed out, and I cranked the volume all the way up (with nothing playing) and there's zero noise. If that's what you were worried about...
You won't see those specific speakers listed on Best Buy, but if you give them a call or just swing by the store, they'll happily pull them from the warehouse for you. They pretty much carry everything... and hey, they'll even give you a discount if you pay cash (you just gotta ask for it, haha!).

Roger Bishop59 said:I get that, but I'm just trying to figure out how they'd actually look on my desk since I can't find any photos or reviews online anywhere... plus those 3000a models are absolutely massive
a friend of mine has the 2000x and they kind of hum (maybe it's the amp or whatever?) so I'm wondering if the 3000a will hum when they're turned on?
I don't see them here http://www.bestbuy.com/

Can you actually draw a fair comparison between this and something like an X230 or other 2.1 speaker setups that include a dedicated subwoofer?
#27 ·
And honestly, you can't even compare a standalone bass setup to how things work in those 2.0 systems. It's just a different beast entirely.
It’s probably punchier on the Logi gear, but when you get into those mids and highs? Man, this Genius thing absolutely destroys it—not just in vibe, but in actual sound quality too.

Hey there,
I've been browsing for some new computer speakers, but I'm having a really hard time making a final call here.
I'm basically torn between these two options:
The $33 set looks a lot more my style—but apparently, they can be a bit harsh on the high end. I'm wondering how much that'll actually bother me when I'm listening in real life, you know? On the other hand, those $38 ones seem almost 👍. Is it actually worth spending that extra $100?
Since I'm already looking at $267, maybe it would be smarter to just grab these instead:
Or should I go with those Genius speakers you guys seem to love for the price—the SP-HF 3000A?

If you aren't feeling that heavy-duty punch from the $267, then you’re basically playing in the amateur league with the Creative Gigaworks T40

Is anyone actually hanging out here today? 😁
It’s not really about the heavy bass for me—I’m just chasing better overall sound quality.
I was pretty much set on grabbing the Creative 3800, but now you've got me second-guessing things again!
Do you honestly think the T40s would be the smarter move?

Personally, I’ll take a stereo setup any day. As for quality, I’d put the T40 and Z4 right in the middle, whereas these 3800s? Honestly, they're a step down. 🙂

Man, I don't even know what you're talking about—I can barely hear a thing coming out of the Z4 setup.
The sound quality on those speakers is honestly perfect, and that bass? It hits just right, super punchy when you need it.
But those crappy little speakers built into the Z4? Total garbage if you ask me.
It’s like the mids aren't even there, and the highs just start screeching once you crank the volume up too high.
You definitely won't get that kind of sound from Creative.
I'm telling you, I've tried them myself.
If you don't mind dropping a few extra bucks, just head over to Best Buy and grab some for $250—you'll actually enjoy it.
Never used those T40s, so I can't really weigh in on those.
And seriously, if you're looking at stereo speakers, forget the T40s; these Genius ones are absolutely perfect for $133.
There's no way the T40s have such a full sound compared to these wood-cabinet ones, especially since they've got much larger drivers.
Plus, they get insanely loud.

So, I headed out to a few different shopping malls yesterday, hoping I might actually get a chance to test out both models back-to-back—but no such luck. Turns out, they didn't even have the T40 in stock, just the T20, and honestly? The price tag was pretty steep. I ended up pulling the trigger on the L3800 instead since they were running a 15% discount for cash payments, so I figured, why not?
They really are fantastic, though I’m still a little bummed because I'm sure those T40s are absolute beasts—it's a shame I couldn't hear them in person before deciding.
Thanks to you both for all the help! 👍

I suppose we probably shouldn't get too carried away here, 😁
but I wouldn't necessarily say they hit that high-end audiophile level; they're just pretty decent considering what you're paying for them.

Just trying to figure out what the floor is for decent sound on Craigslist... maybe $1,500+ for used gear, $1,000–$1,500 for a smaller Mission or Wharfdale setup, plus another $100 for a better interface 😁

I actually use Wharfedale powered monitors myself, and I honestly can't recommend them enough.
It just saves you all that headache of trying to hunt down the perfect amplifier that happens to "match" your speakers perfectly...

Wharfedale Diamond 8.2 Active
So, here they are. From what I can gather, there seems to be a pretty solid sale running on them at the moment, if you're looking.
