The issue I'm running into is that whenever I try to restart, it just loops right back to that "Windows is finalizing" screen.

Maybe try running the installation again, but this time use a different customized version of Win7, like darkheron39 suggested. 🙂

If you can get your hands on an untouched version, do it. There isn’t some "superior" edition out there—it’s either the original or it’s just someone's messy DIY project. 👍

Quick question just to double check. Is there even any point in trying to install Windows 7 on a machine with only 500 MB of RAM?

just toss another 512MB in there and then you can go ahead and install the 7 🙂

There is absolutely no way 500MB works. That isn't even enough to run the OS, let alone actually launch any programs.

Just one quick question:
why is it that when I hit "eject" on my USB drive through File Explorer, the little light on the thumb drive stays blinking away? Even though the notification pops up in the bottom right corner saying it’s safe to remove the device, the LED just keeps acting like it's still busy.

On my old machine running Windows XP SP3, the light actually goes out once I request a safe removal. But on my other PC running Windows 7, the light just keeps glowing. I pull the drive anyway and I haven't run into any issues with the data. 🙂

Mine does the exact same thing on Windows 7, but honestly, if you get that "safe to remove" message, who cares? That's the only part that actually matters. 😉

Is it even possible for that to fry the power supply?

What’s the reason behind all this?

Is anyone else dealing with Shockwave constantly crashing on them? It’s becoming a genuine nuisance... my browser tends to hang quite a bit right before the crash happens. I just have to hit refresh and everything seems fine again, despite having the latest version installed...

Which latest one should I go with? The stable 10.3.181.34 version
OR
the 11.0.1.60 Beta?

Personally, my setup using Internet Explorer + Flash Player 11 beta hasn't given me any grief so far.👍

You caught me off guard there... I honestly have no idea. I suppose I should go check...
.I believe this version is stable enough... though Chrome has been giving me quite a headache lately... everything was fine before that...

edit, I just noticed it says 11... what do you mean by beta? if it is, I'm getting rid of it immediately...

I think this one's pretty stable.. I'm using Chrome right now and it's been acting up lately.. before that, everything was fine...

edit, just realized it's 11... what even is beta? if it is, I'm out, man, immediately.

A beta is just a test version they're still working on, it isn't even finished yet 😉

I honestly don't care if it was a beta version or not... when I sat down to install it, I wasn't paying much attention to the labels, I just clicked on the update button... now that I've downloaded this more stable version, we'll simply have to wait and see how the whole system manages to run... but thanks for the help... 🙂

Did you actually uninstall the beta first?
🙂
I mean, before you went ahead and slapped that stable version on top?
