uh, alright... so I’ve got a question for you guys. xD ! So, I was reading some stuff online saying that if you’re running 4 GB of RAM on a 32-bit OS—like, I'm currently rocking Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit—it only actually uses about 3.44 GB. And get this, I even tried switching over to the 64-bit version, and it's the exact same deal. Like, why won't the system just let me use all 4 GB?! It’s not like it’s breaking my heart or anything right now, but hey, having an extra 512 MB of RAM sitting there unused feels like a waste, haha. For context, I've got two 2GB sticks of DDR2 in here (one's probably 600 MHz and the other 800 MHz, honestly I can't remember which is which)... so if anyone actually knows what's going on or has a fix... thanks!

Does the graphics card reserve some of the RAM?

Control Panel - System - Advanced system settings - Advanced - under Startup and Recovery, then go to Settings and check Automatically restart under System Failure.

swiftdriver30 - It’s possible your graphics card is hogging some RAM (you didn't mention your specs, by the way). You might want to check your BIOS to see if there's a "maximum memory" setting—make sure you have it set to Enable. Also, try this: type msconfig into your Start search bar, head over to the Boot tab, click Advanced options, and make sure the Maximum memory box is checked if it isn't already.

Look, the issue isn't about whether someone chooses to install it—the real problem is that the adaptations and translations into American English have been an absolute disaster for years. Besides, the American market is far too massive to bother with such niche localization, and frankly, a hyper-localized product like this helps absolutely nobody. A developer wastes resources on a half-baked product, while the user ends up forced to learn a workflow that doesn't exist anywhere else... What kind of career prospects do you think someone has abroad if they don't have a clue how to navigate the English versions of Windows and Office? I've worked at several multinational corporations, and every single one of them ran their software in English... precisely because they operate globally.

Hold on, I'm just communicating casually here without obsessing over every little grammar rule. My goal is to make my points clear and easy to understand, not to police every technical term. When it comes time to write a formal letter, a resume, or a job application, thank God I'll actually know how to express myself properly...

hey... uhhh I don't know if the graphics card is taking up space for msconfig because when I run it I know it's taking about 4049 or whatever but it's using 3.44gb and I have no clue why... and as for the BIOS thing I'm not sure since I've got an ASRock motherboard so I'll have to dig around and look... I'll let you know once I check it out. thanks! oh yeah

specs: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.66GHz, Nvidia GeForce GT 430 DDR3 1GB, 4GB RAM (Kingston) DDR2 (600 - 800 MHz I think) 320GB Hitachi HDD.

Every two hours, my PC undergoes an automatic reset; during the subsequent boot sequence, I am met with a Blue Screen of Death that lasts for mere seconds before the system vanishes entirely.
How might one go about resolving such a persistent issue?

ugh. thanks to ''Zgodni'' and ''Taylor Morales31'' I finally got this thing sorted out. I went into the BIOS and enabled some settings for the RAM, and now I'm actually getting the full 4 GB out of it, even on the 32-bit version 🙂 peace out guys, catch you at the next disaster 🙂 hehehe

Any idea how to fix this mess?

We aren't going to discuss piracy on this forum... just go use Google.

Look, Adobe is king, period. Foxit? Total garbage and probably malware.

People can use whatever they want, honestly. It all comes down to habits, what you actually need, your hardware, or how much of a dinosaur you are...

As for Windows, it’s the same old story—it’s all about the hardware first.
Personally, I’ve got three desktops at home plus a laptop. Two of the desktops run Windows 7, the laptop runs Ubuntu, and one desktop is stuck on Windows XP.

Take my old rig: Athlon 3200, 1.5 GB DDR400, Radeon 9550 -> still a killer machine today! It crushed Crysis 1 and the expansion and everything, but man, Windows 7 just won't run on it properly.

And then there's

my Phenom ii x6, 8 GB DDR3, HD6750 -> like, why on earth would I ever run XP on that thing? lol

It's true, we've all grown attached to XP after using it for so many years, but let's be real—I don't even need it anymore.

😂 Yeah, pretty much. Just so the Windows XP fanboys out there know...

Ah, the classic defense of every semi-literate forum user. Look, it isn't inherently wrong to "write casually," but you sound pretty foolish trying to lecture people on learning and education while doing it. Besides, I find irony quite entertaining. 😁

Learning and education have absolutely nothing to do with how someone carries themselves on an online forum. I should be able to express myself however I want, and frankly, I don't care what anyone else thinks about it.🤷

I disagree. Half-wits are half-wits regardless of where you go.

Besides, there’s no reason to hijack this thread with a debate that has nothing to do with the OS.

So, I’ve been thinking about something... I'm running Windows 7 on my rig right now, and if I run into a wall needing specific software or whatever for it, am I actually allowed to post questions about that here? I guess I'm mostly asking because of how this OS works, and honestly, I really don't want to get moved around or have my threads redirected to some other section every time I ask something... basically, can I just ask about certain programs or stuff like that without all the hassle?

You can't really be sure about that, because most of these programs aren't just designed specifically for Windows 7; they're built to work across all different versions of Windows too...😉

Look, this specific thread is strictly for Windows talk—if you're hunting for other types of software, there's an entire section of the forum dedicated to that. Besides, most programs run just fine on both Windows XP and Windows 7; there isn't really such a thing as "special" software made exclusively for 7.

alright alright, chill out Benjamin King2 xD. I was just wondering if I could drop a question about certain programs here without getting chewed out, but whatever... my bad. thanks much 😁

so I’ve got this one question about Windows 7 hh... where can I actually find most of those "DreamScene" pictures or videos? I managed to track down a few on their official site, but I don't really want to name the specific page or anything here if I can help it... so if anyone knows where the good stuff is, please let me know... :''D
