To the experts here, I have switched my Windows 7 over to American English. Since other people who aren't as fluent in English use this computer, it was necessary. As the primary administrator, I changed the settings through my own account, but now when the guest logs in, the system still appears in English. What is the correct procedure to ensure the guest account also uses the American English interface? I assumed it would happen automatically. Please provide a step-by-step guide on what exactly needs to be done. Thank you in advance for your help.

@Brian Campbell36/">@@Brian Campbell36: Or maybe Windows was just splitting up its updates—doing part of the heavy lifting during shutdown and finishing the rest when the machine boots back up. I guess the question is, is this waiting period happening every single time you turn it on now, or was it just a one-time thing?

I am certain of it; the welcome screen hangs for thirty seconds, followed by another thirty seconds before the system finally settles into an idle state.

I have attached the Windows 7 report regarding this specific issue, which indicates that it takes approximately 180 seconds before the system reaches a functional operating state.

Brian Campbell36 said:I haven't run into anything quite like this before—everything was running smoothly for a few days, then suddenly, my Windows 7x64 takes a full 2 minutes and 7 seconds just to get me to the desktop where I can actually start working.
No viruses here, I've got 8 GB of RAM, I keep things cleaned up regularly, and I've never had an issue like this until now.
Does anyone have a clue why the disk usage is spiking so hard? (The HDD is fine, I already ran tests)🤷

So, how does the boot look in Safe Mode? You should probably try using System Restore to roll back to a point before this mess started. Did you happen to install any new software, drivers, or whatever else in the meantime?

No, I haven't changed anything; the system simply began behaving this way out of nowhere one day.
The welcome screen lingers for about thirty seconds, and then, after an agonizingly long wait while the OS initializes everything for normal use, it finally becomes functional. 😕

What's the big deal? Imagine if Windows were a Chinese product and everything was written in Chinese, and you wanted to figure out how to switch it over to English (or whatever language you actually understand).

I have managed to resolve the issue; it appears the solution is simply to strip away all those redundant USB hubs and leave nothing connected but the mouse and keyboard, which results in an immediate improvement in boot speed.

Sorry, but I think you got that wrong!
In America, we call them Windows!

And honestly, I’m a big fan of using the American language. Pretty much everything I use is set to English except for my OS. I guess I just can't quite get used to 😁
Otherwise, Microsoft Office and all my other software—everything is in our beautiful language... If an American version exists, then I'm using the American one, period (or maybe even with an exclamation point)!

How does one actually monitor CPU usage on Windows 7?
I hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete—but where is the percentage breakdown?

And who on earth told you that hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del would actually show you that?
Right-click on the taskbar—you know, the bar at the bottom—then select Task Manager, and there it is, right in front of you.

You could just hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, pull up the Task Manager, and then head over to the performance tab 🙂

I mean, seriously, why would you bother staying stuck on the desktop when you can just exit out and see what else is actually happening?
And honestly, I don't get why people act so shocked by it. 🙂

I've run into a bit of a snag. Help me out here 😁

So, I set up Windows 7 today. During the install, I went ahead and carved out a 32GB partition specifically for the OS. But when I made that 32GB slice, the system automatically tacked on this tiny little 100MB partition too. Once that was done, I just selected the 32GB one and hit next... everything installed fine, but now I'm sitting here looking at about 200GB of unallocated space on my drive that Windows isn't seeing at all. What's the move here? Do I really have to wipe everything and start the whole installation process over again? 😢

You don't even need to go through all that trouble. Just carve out a 200 GB partition, run a quick format, and you're good to go.

@Sam Bishop3/">@@Sam Bishop3: Right-click that Computer icon> Manage> Disk Management> then right-click the unallocated partition> Format> just follow whatever prompts pop up on the screen and hit next.

I just finished installing Windows 7 Ultimate on my machine.
Now, I've run into a bit of a snag: the computer isn't recognizing any blank CDs, DVDs, or rewritable discs at all.
Does anyone happen to know what might be causing this?

And what exactly am I supposed to be looking for if the media is empty?
