I guess you might have a Trojan or something. Maybe try running an antispyware scan to check it out.

One more thing... the program is great. It handles the installation on my Kingston DataTraveler 4 perfectly, but my Toshiba nb100 won't boot from it🤷...just for comparison, it works fine on my "big" laptop...could the drive capacity be too high? Is that even possible?

I was wondering if there's some kind of specific setting for this... because even after I ran the uninstaller, my startup shortcuts still won't budge...??

I don't know what could be causing that.

Does it not boot at all, or does it start booting and then just hang somewhere?

Anyone else run into issues taking screenshots while playing games on Windows 7? Every time I try to grab a shot mid-game, I just end up with a completely black image, even though everything looks totally fine in Windows itself :S

Everything works fine when the USB isn't plugged in, but as soon as I pop it in, the system just hangs on the startup screen. It gets stuck right where it asks if I want to enter the BIOS or change the boot sequence.

Try this:

-plug the drive into a different port
-look for an option in the BIOS called "USB Legacy Support" (or something similar) and set it to enabled

If neither of those works, there might be some kind of conflict between the laptop and the drive. Based on what you're saying, the stick seems to be stalling the laptop's POST. Maybe try a different USB drive if nothing else helps.

If neither works, there's likely some kind of conflict between the laptop and the drive. Based on what you described, the drive is blocking the laptop's POST process. Try a different flash drive if those steps don't help.

Thanks a lot, but unfortunately, none of that worked... I'll try a different drive tomorrow if I can pick one up.

One week in and it’s meeting all my (amateur) expectations👍

It's fast, it's stable, and what really stands out—it doesn't go hunting for a mountain of drivers for basic tasks like Vista used to do..

I like it 😍

Alright, I’ve got a few things I need to clear up before I pull the trigger and install Windows 7 on my rig.

2. Is most of my software and gaming stuff actually going to run on it like it did on XP? I know there was a ton of drama and compatibility headaches back in the day with these transitions. My absolute priority is World of Warcraft—if anyone is running 7 right now and can tell me it works without crashing or acting weird, please let me know! =)

4. How’s the internet experience looking? Browsers, speeds, all that good stuff... am I going to see a massive jump in performance, or is it going to feel slower than XP?

5. If I decide to grab 7, which version should I go for—is it the Ultimate edition or something else? Also, I’m totally lost on the whole x32 vs x64 debate. Could someone break down the difference for me? It would be a huge help. Here’s what I’m working with: 2 GB of RAM, an ATI Radeon HD3600 512 graphics card, an Intel core duo 2.5 GHZ processor, and an Asus P5KPL-VM motherboard.

If you guys have any other tips or things I should watch out for, please speak up—but seriously, I really need the help here!

THANKS!

Finally, a legitimate US site where you can actually get some decent news and even snag a free activation for Windows 7
I actually stumbled upon this promo myself and managed to activate my system for about ten bucks - Click here

That page sounds like a total bait for harvesting email addresses to send spam.🙂

If I’m going to look up info on Windows 7, I’ll stick to the official Microsoft pages
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/

or just check out the US version

...Man, this OS is taking forever to boot up... I type in my password, wait a few good seconds, and then it just sits there on "Preparing your desktop." Like, what the hell is that even supposed to mean, and why does it need so much time?

I used to know this one great site—a blog filled with all sorts of useful resources—but I just can't seem to track it down anymore.
I'm currently running W7 RC 7100, fully activated, which I have no intention of changing. Aside from doing a completely fresh install, what would you recommend as the best way to go? I've been surfing the web looking at various patches, but honestly, I'm feeling a bit lost in the shuffle.

What are you actually looking for? Please tell me you aren't hunting for a crack.

Has anyone here actually attempted an upgrade from the RC version to the RTM release? Based on what I’ve been reading on various tech blogs, it should theoretically be possible, though in practice... well, I honestly have no idea how it turns out.

Hey, I need some help with Windows 7. I can't seem to get the win 7 64 bit version to install. Do I actually need to install the 32bit version first, or can I just jump straight into 64bit? My hardware is fully compatible and everything, so I don't get why it's acting up. Thanks.

Just go ahead and install the 64-bit version already! I mean, seriously, what's the hold-up? Why can't you just do it???
