Slayer or Megadeth in America?

The first and last time Slayer hit the US stage here, they brought along a relatively unknown System of a Down as their opener back on October 28, 1998.

Megadeth has never even stepped foot in this country.

Both bands are dropping new albums in about a month—Slayer’s World painted blood and Megadeth’s Endgame—and the reviews are already killer. Fans are losing it waiting for these.

With their recent European tours under their belts, you have to wonder if any American promoters will actually step up and show interest.

From what I know, both bands have had offers to play here before, but the timing just never worked out.

I really hope our promoters don't flake. We need to see at least one of these two bands in the States soon, especially since they're gearing up for those big tours and summer festival slots.

Both bands are back on stage together this year, and if I'm not mistaken, they've already wrapped up the North American leg of the tour.

Slayer shows up in this part of the US relatively often, even when you look at places like Austria or Italy, but we've only seen them three times in their entire long career here—maybe once in 1994 and again in 2006, and just once back in 1998.

As for Megadeth, it's kind of weird to me. Dave isn't exactly a regular visitor to the US Midwest or East Coast, except for maybe hitting up Austria.

Is there any shot we'll see at least one of these bands around here soon? Damn!

And man, someone needs to get them over here ASAP. I know Megadeth has been getting plenty of offers to play in the States over the last few years, but nothing ever sticks. Seems like they were closest to making it happen during the "Tour of Duty" when they hit up Portland.

Now, the real question is how much Dave actually wants to play in the Middle or East US?

2010 US: Metallica, Slayer & Megadeth.

My only real fear is that instead of getting Slayer or Megadeth, I end up stuck with Metallica. Really hope that doesn't happen.😢

I'm pretty much certain Lollapalooza is bringing Metallica here next year. As for Slayer—I know other promoters (not Lollapalooza) are trying to book them, but things always seem to fall through at the last minute. Still, I’d bet anything they'll be back next year too. Regarding Megadeth, I honestly have no clue—not sure if there's even enough interest for them in the States. This whole scene in America is a bit of a mess when it comes to this kind of music; just look at how Slayer had to cancel their shows in Chicago and New York back in 2008, or how Judas Priest pulled out of those cities the same year.

I’d probably still catch a Slayer show even if they aren't my jam, though I’m not sure I’d walk away feeling like I got my money's worth. 😬
But Metallica? I'd give anything to see them live. 😁
