I've been gathering certain details regarding Windows 7, taking notes on them, and eventually, I intend to "release" them—let's just call them "hidden features" that significantly streamline your workflow in Windows 7...

tweaks. You can find plenty of them scattered across the web.

There are some out there, but I think this one will be more like a special edition or an Xtreme Tweak 🙂

Well, I've finally hit a point where memory usage is sitting at around 35%.
For a laptop setup like mine, that’s actually quite 🙂

Honestly, if you can't handle that, just give up. 🙄 🤷

Who even let you touch a computer? 😢

I mentioned a bunch of other stupid stuff too... besides, I'm the one who put myself in this mess😛... alright, Mr. Hacker, chill out and go get some sun

Quick update:

Everything’s mostly running fine, except for the printer. I’m missing those specific options
to check ink levels, tweak settings, or adjust print quality...
The HP website just tells me to stick with the automatic
driver installation, which is exactly what I already did.
I was also having a headache with my Marvel network card.
Even though the driver installed automatically and showed up as a Microsoft driver under the options
the connection would just drop every ten minutes, even when it said it was connected.
I finally grabbed the actual driver straight from the Marvel site for Windows 7
so we'll see if that actually fixes things...
The rest is solid.

Anyway, where can I find some decent Windows 7 forums?
Besides the usual Microsoft ones, there aren't much out there...

thanks

Ugh, I just finished installing Windows 7 and everything is a total mess right now... I'm seeing these weird black squares popping up all over my icons on the desktop. I've already tried rebooting the computer a few times, but nothing works. Does anyone have any clue what might be causing this?

It’s likely a graphics driver issue. Post a screenshot so we can see what you're dealing with.

@David Sanchez64/">@@David Sanchez64 I guess you should check if you actually have all the drivers installed in the Device Manager.

Hi there. I just installed Windows 7 Professional on a machine that already had Windows XP Home Edition running. It’s set up for dual boot now, which works fine, but I've hit a snag. I had Microsoft Office 2003 installed previously, though I don't have the original disc. Now, whenever I try to launch any program in Windows 7—Word, PowerPoint, doesn't matter—I get this error: The operating system is not presently configured to run this application.
Any advice on how to fix this?
Thanks in advance..

Windows 7 is its own distinct environment, so if you want to run any specific programs, you’ll need to install them directly within Windows 7—and that includes Office. 🙂

You can't just run programs that aren't actually installed on that OS
Look, if you didn't install Office on Windows 7, then go ahead and use it on Windows XP
where you actually installed it.

So, there's really nothing I can do to get this running?

Aside from those few crumbs from Microsoft, what else is even out there?

Thanks.

Have you even checked what’s available on this page? Just right-click the desktop, hit Personalize, then select Get more themes online. 😉

Yeah, I saw that... any other sites out there?
Seems like there's a ton of themes listed on there...

thanks

I just couldn't stay silent on this topic because, honestly, Windows 7 has disappointed me so deeply that I'm still trying to process the whole mess.
I went through every single version available, from the early beta builds to the 64-bit versions once they finally hit the download servers.
Not everything was running perfectly, obviously, but I figured they’d iron out all those kinks by the time the retail version actually launched.
Well, here we are! Windows 7 Ultimate.
The installation itself was actually pretty smooth.
I was actually surprised that all my drivers were pulled from the internet without any hassle.
But then the real headaches started when I tried installing Firefox. It runs so slow it's almost pathetic.
So I thought, okay, let's try Opera! Fine! That works, even if it feels a little glitchy. Anyway, moving on.
Nero, Winamp, and uTorrent all installed just fine, but nothing actually functions the way it should. For instance, uTorrent will randomly kill a download for no reason and throw some nonsensical error at me—something along the lines of saying the files can't finish downloading because they're being used by another process? Really?
And then, out of nowhere, the entire computer just freezes up, even when I only have one single program open.
Then it goes and forgets my Wi-Fi password. And then it does this, and that... you name it.
Just for context, I'm running this on a Pentium 4 with 4GB of RAM and a 256MB graphics card.
To wrap this up: if I had to choose between Windows Vista and Windows 7, I'd pick Vista. At least it gets the job done.
Psych!
I'm wiping Windows entirely and jumping ship to Linux!
Ubuntu!
Goodbye, Microsoft! Seriously, what a joke...
Cheers, everyone!!!

I guess it sounds like you might be missing a graphics driver.

Goodbye, Microsoft. Screw this...
Later everyone.

I don't know. I'd say the issue might be your hardware. Windows 7 isn't just going to freeze for no reason; there's probably some underlying hardware problem somewhere.

Is it possible that I'm just one in a million here? Is anyone else experiencing these kinds of issues?😕

I just grabbed the latest drivers for my graphics card (I'm running an ATI Radeon 2900 xt)—everything is totally up to date on my end!🙂
