coastalharbor6 said:So, I mailed some earrings to a girl via mail; the package was traveling through San Francisco (from one end to the other, doesn't really matter why right now), and I sent it registered with COD, so she was supposed to pay $37. Well, the package showed up this morning totally trashedβ€”the earrings are completely pulverized, shattered, and the little glass pieces are all messed up. They aren't just unusable; I can't even salvage the materials! What am I actually supposed to do here? And is there even anything I can 😒
they charged her 120 instead of $37

They charged her $3.25 because apparently there's this so-called "return shipping fee," basically you're paying for the service of transferring the money from the recipient back to the sender... and honestly, fragile shipments like yours should be extra insured by marking them as "fragile"

Greetings!
I was wondering how I might go about receiving a certified package or one with cash on delivery if I'm currently living at a rental address as a subtenant?
Would this format work for me:
*my full name*
(Unit XYZ)
street address, house number
etc...

Thank you!

Is there a way I can receive a certified package or something where I pay cash on delivery if I'm living at a rental address?
Can I just format it like this:
*my full name*
(Apt XYZ)
street address, house number
etc...

Thanks!

Yeah, that looks fine to me. I've actually sent stuff that way before to friends who were renting.

Or maybe you could just write it like this, for example:

"your full name"
c/o "the landlord's last name"

Hey, quick questionβ€”if I sent a package via certified mail with COD, about how long does it usually take for the cash to actually hit my account?

Hey everyone, what's the easiest way to ship a book? What kind of packaging should I be using to keep it safe?

I sent out a package last Monday via HP Express, but I still haven't seen the funds hit my account.πŸ˜•
To make matters worse, I just noticed that confirmation receipt...
What should my next move be?

To make matters worse, I can't seem to find the confirmation receipt.
What should I do?

Honestly, just head down to the location where you dropped it off and ask them for some helpβ€”I'm pretty sure they can pull up a copy for you.
While you're at it, have them give you an update on where the shipment actually is.

Are you even sure they actually scanned it in???

brightskipper40 said:Hey there, roughly how long does it take for the funds to clear if I sent a package via certified mail with COD (cash on delivery)?

If the carrier can't get it delivered right away, it usually sits at the local post office for about 5 days before they try returning it to sender.
Once it's actually delivered, you should see those funds hit within 1-2 daysβ€”it shouldn't take any longer than that.
I'd suggest checking the official USPS website just to confirm the delivery status.

The package hasn't been returned to me. I sent an email to the girl, but she isn't responding...

I mean, honestly? She probably totally screwed you over and just doesn't want to deal with the package... which means it'll likely end up being sent back to you in a few days, and then you're stuck paying the shipping all over again... damn. It sucks, but people can be real pieces of work sometimes... though, I guess maybe that's not it and she'll just actually show up to pick it up today or tomorrow...

To make matters even worse, I actually caught sight of that confirmation.
What on earth am I supposed to do now? Seriously, where do I even begin with this mess?

Find that confirmation, because without it, you’re absolutely stuck. Seriously, what are you even going to do? Nothing. You won't get anywhere.

So, I need to pick up a phone case from someone in a small town over in Ohio and have it shipped to me in Chicago. I found one on eBay for $6.75, and now I’m just wondering... what’s actually going to be the cheapest way to get this sent? I mean, since it's just a thin plastic shell for a phoneβ€”not exactly heavy or anythingβ€”do you think I could just pop it in one of those bubble mailers and send it as a standard letter? I guess it might work, maybe?

I found one on eBay for $6.75, so now I'm wondering what the cheapest shipping method would be. Can I just put it in one of those bubble mailers and send it as regular mail? It’s just a thin plastic outer shell for a phone, so it’s not heavy at all.

Yeah, you totally can. Honestly, the cheapest way is probably just to Zelle or Venmo the seller directly so they can just drop it in the mail via USPS Certified Mail for about $3.25... though, I guess that really depends on whether you actually trust the person you're buying from...

Heh, I get that, I really do. But since I don't personally know this guy, I guess I'd rather do it the way where the post office handles the payment first. So, what would you suggest then?

Well, then you just pay when you pick it up, and the shipping ends up being about $8.75πŸ˜‰

Wait, so you're saying sending it as a standard letter works too? If that were the case, I guess how much would that even cost?

That’s basically the end of the story regarding the letter. If you’re talking about standard shipping, you can't exactly do it with cash on delivery, right?
