And honestly, there's a good chance the item itself weighs a ton too.🀷

I called them up, and they initially said the redelivery would be free. But while my dad was there in person, they totally changed their tune and told him I just had to take it, even if it wouldn't fit in the car. πŸ™„

Elizabeth Brown90 said:What does it actually mean when the recipient, on top of the stated COD amount, also has to cover a payment processing fee? What kind of fee are we even talking about here?

Well, look, when you're dealing with a Cash on Delivery shipment, the money is being routed back to you, which obviously incurs its own set of overhead costs. What you're seeing is an additional percentage tacked onto the COD total to cover those transaction fees. I can't say for certain what the exact rate is these days, but I remember once, on a total of $33, that extra fee ended up being roughly $3.00, if I recall correctly. πŸ™‚

Hey, does anyone here have any experience dealing with a lost package? Basically, my tracking says the shipment was delivered and signed for, but there’s absolutely no sign of it anywhere... definitely wasn't me who picked it up 😒

I don't find that very believable unless the mail carrier swiped it 🀣. It’s much more likely someone else grabbed it by mistake.

I have this one woman insisting she mailed me something last Thursday, yet today I get a receipt with yesterday's date on it. And nooooo, she swears it went out last Thursday... fine, whatever, let her be wrong. I don't care, as long as the stuff arrived, but seriously, stop trying to make a fool out of me.

Hey, can someone tell me what the standard shipping should be for a medium-sized bag and what kind of packaging I even need to use so it doesn't get trashed...
Thanks πŸ™‚

Thanks πŸ™‚

How much does it weigh, though?

I mean, you can just run the numbers on the USPS website www.usps.com

Thanks

He learned just like you’re learningβ€”either the shipping costs get wired to your checking account upfront before I even touch the package, or I don't send it at all. Simple as that...

Yeah.. learned the hard way. Won't happen again... now I'm stuck covering the shipping plus an extra 50% penalty... 😠 I tried calling the guy who placed the order, he gave me his number and all his info, then suddenly acts like he never ordered anything at all... β˜•

Has anyone else dealt with a situation where a large packageβ€”something over a poundβ€”just vanishes when sent via standard USPS mail?

I’ve sent countless packages over the years, using everything from certified mail to standard envelopes, and I’ve received plenty too, and everything has always arrived perfectly fine... until this one massive parcel sent through regular mail just disappeared into thin air.

I totally get how a small envelope, a postcard, or something light might get lost or slip out of a mailbag, and I understand that international shipments can sometimes be intercepted during customs inspections, but the idea of a large, bulky letter getting lost or someone randomly opening it to steal contents right here in the States just doesn't sit right with me.🀷

Turns out you just have to pay these new $3.25 service fees. πŸ™‚

Quick question for anyone in the loopβ€”does a USPS clerk actually have the right to demand I open an international package right there at the counter to inspect the contents? Has this ever actually happened to anyone else?

Look, that’s just standard procedure whenever you're shipping a package out of the country.

I shipped a phone via FedEx on January 29th, 2013, for $387.
The person I sent it to has gone completely silent, and I have no idea how long it takes for the money to actually hit my account or what the process even looks like. The folks at the shipping center told me it would arrive within 24 hours, but that was ages ago and I still haven't seen a dime. What should my next move be?

Look, there's a pretty high chance that person just never picked it up in the first place (which means that package is probably just sitting there for like five days waiting for them to grab itβ€”maybe they'll eventually...). The fact that they aren't responding and you haven't seen a dime suggests that. It happens, people change their minds... but obviously, you're the one getting screwed here. In any case, if I were you, I'd just give FedEx a call and ask if the shipment was actually delivered or what.
