Are you even sure about that? I mean, why wouldn't they just leave a little yellow slip behind? If they did, I’d still have to show up and cough up $4.50 anyway, right?

So, what you're saying is they basically have the loophole where they can slap those PPXXXXXXXXUS numbers on small packages themselves? I'm actually waiting on a small parcel from China right now that was sent without any tracking, so this number ending in US has me totally tripped out.

Well, that's just how it works now. Small packages coming through Washington, D.C. are all labeled with those specific numbers...

Thanks, I really appreciate it. πŸ™‚ I was pretty convinced it wasn't from China because of the US label, so the only thing left is some kind of made-up fine. 😁

Don't even sweat it. 😁

Hey there

So, I sent off a package (it was basically just one of those big padded envelopes acting like a box) over to the UK. Long story short, the delivery failed and now it’s been sent all the way back here to the US. Now I've got this thing sitting at a facility on Branimirov and the tracking says I owe about $17.

I have a couple of questions:
-What exactly am I being charged for here?
-And what actually happens to the package if I just decide to leave it there?

Thanks! πŸ˜‰

I sent off a package (it was just a big envelope, but treated as a parcel) over to the UK. Turns out, it couldn't be delivered and it's been sent all the way back here to the US. Now I've got this package waiting for me at the local FedEx office on Branimirov, and they're claiming I owe about $17.

I was wondering about a couple of things:
-What exactly am I supposed to be paying for here?
-And what happens to the package if I just decide not to pick it up?

Thanks πŸ˜‰

Look, it’s basically like you paid for a one-way ticketπŸ˜‰
If you don't go grab it, the shipment goes into the undeliverable pile and eventually just gets trashed after a while...

Does anyone know if it’s actually possible to send a certified letter via poste restanteβ€”basically, having it held at a specific post office of my choosing for pickup? Since poste restante requires a signature upon collection, I’m wondering how feasible or even logical it would be to request that?

Has anyone ever dealt with this absolute nightmare where you send off a package with a COD amount, say $77, the recipient pays the full thing, but then you get back $20 lessβ€”meaning you actually only see $57?!?

I went down to the local USPS office and basically got told to shove it, and when I called their customer service line, the lady on the other end was completely clueless... like, zero answers. Seriously, what else am I even supposed to do at this point?

I’ve got a quick question. As a foreign citizen (from Canada), am I actually allowed to pick up a package sent via poste restanteβ€”or whatever other shipping method they use thereβ€”to collect it in person? For example, if I order something sent from NYC to a place like St. GraΔ‘ani or Okucanin, can I just show up and grab it? Is this an option for non-citizens in the US? Thanks!

When can I realistically expect a letter sent within NYC if it was dropped off on a Friday afternoon? Shouldn't it have arrived by now?

(I don't have a tracking number or anything; it's just Sender A sending to Recipient B, and since I'm relying on B, and B says they haven't seen a thing yet)

Can someone tell me how often you guys actually get mail deliveries? I live in a residential neighborhood where they only swing by twice a week, which means everything is constantly lagging. It’s even worse with certified mailβ€”I can't pick anything up until the carrier leaves one of those yellow slips. To top it all off, the staff at my local post office are pretty incompetent. They lose things left and right. I had a certified package coming from a nearby suburb that took seven business days to arrive, and six of those days it was just sitting there unrecorded in the office. I literally had to go in there and hunt it down myself.

Hey there!

So, I’ve got a bit of a massive headache here. I’ve been ordering a ton of stuff for my grandma lately, but lately, her packages just aren't showing up. It’s getting ridiculous. We checked the tracking numbers from China, and according to the info, one package cleared customs and hit her local US Post Office about two weeks ago, and another one showed up there maybe 4 or 5 days ago. But when she actually went down there with a printout of the Chinese tracking (using Yuntrack, not that RFxxxxxxxxxUS one), the lady at the counter basically told her they have no idea what she's talking about and can't track those numbers. Look, I get that they might not be able to scan a random Chinese tracking code, but if the system says it reached the local office, where the heck is it? Did it just vanish into thin air? Or did it fall into a black hole?
Has anyone dealt with this before? Is there anything I can even do? Like, is there a manager I can call? Because honestly, trying to get a supervisor on the phone at the post office is about as likely as winning the Powerball...

Also, we have a few other little packages with standard tracking numbers, and they’ve been stuck on "Sent item abroad" for almost two weeks now. Unless they’re coming by boat, shouldn't they be here by now, right?

Thanks for the help! :-)

I’m looking into selling some stuff online and have a few questions.

If I list an item for, say, $33, and go with Cash on Delivery, the buyer pays the mailman those $33 and it eventually hits my account after some fees are taken out ( Question How much do those fees usually run me?). Also, can I set it up so the buyer covers the shipping costs too? If so, what does that look like?

I have always factored shipping costs directly into the buyout price (and I made sure to point that out whenever someone requested shipping alongside the buyout). For smaller items, this increases the total cost by roughly $6.75 (at least, that was the case a few years back).

Hi everyone,
does anyone know a reliable way to send a package to an address here in the States anonymously? I need to be absolutely certain it actually reaches its destination, even if my identity stays hidden.

Basically, I’m looking to send some Christmas gifts to a family, but I want it to be a total surpriseβ€”I don't want them to know who they're from.

Can someone tell me if it's actually possible to address a package to someone else's name at a local USPS office so they can just swing by and pick it up themselves?

No, not if there isn't a fuse in that post.

I was actually wondering about the operating hours for the USPS branch over on 4th Streetβ€”do they happen to stay open on Saturdays?

Yeah, you can do that. Just leave it to the USPS folks.
