ironwolf52 said:So, a girl just messaged me saying her package hasn't arrived yet. All the other girls I sent stuff to that same day already got theirs. I sent out five packages total that day, and now I'm wondering if there's any point in going down to the FedEx office if I don't have the receipt—I either lost it or tossed it by mistake! I'm not sure what the process is since this is the first time one of my shipments hasn't shown up.🤷😢

It doesn't necessarily mean anything.
Lately, I've been having issues where some deliveries take forever to get to people. Honestly, I'm starting to think I might've annoyed the lady at the post office. 😂
Anyway, just hang in there. Sometimes things really do take up to two weeks to arrive...

Emily Peterson73 said:There’s really nothing to worry about. If you're sending stuff like cards, just send them via certified mail with COD. It basically means the person can't actually grab the cards until they pay up, and then the mail carrier brings that $467 right back to your doorstep. I have no clue what the exact shipping fee is... but I think it's around $10.

Thanks 🙂, BUT honestly, it feels like a total scam if you ask me!!! I was out doing this earlier today and those $467 shipping fees came out to $26, plus an extra 😲 on top of it!!!! My god, they are absolutely bleeding people dry for one little certified letter (it wasn't even a package, just some paper that weighed next to nothing)! This woman at the counter was slapping on ten different stamps and stickers like she was mailing a crate to Tasmania.. Jeez😠 ..Anyway, I just split the cost down the middle with the other person (messaged them immediately)..

Karen Cook51 said:Thanks 🙂 , BUT let’s be real—it’s a total scam if it feels like one!!! This morning, I was looking at those $467 shipping fees and they came out to $26, which is just plain ridiculous 😲 !!!! My god, how much are they bleeding people dry just for a single certified letter? (We aren't even talking about a heavy package here, just a single sheet of paper!) The woman practically plastered ten different stamps, stickers, and little slips on it like she was sending it all the way to >.. Good grief 😠 ..Anyway, I ended up splitting the cost with the other person (I reached out to them immediately)

But the declared value $467, which plays a massive role, isn't the only factor besides weight 😉

Wouldn't it be better to just send stuff via FedEx? Does anyone else feel like delivery services are actually more reliable when you're dealing with high-value items?

I know this isn't exactly the right PDF for this, but I’m betting the girls here who shop all the time know their stuff, so I've got a quick question—what’s actually the difference between a savings account and a checking account, besides the fact that savings gets hit with taxes?

Susan Ramirez33, I was just wondering about the tax implications on a savings account—for instance, if someone wants to wire funds directly into a savings account, they end up footing extra fees for the bank. I believe it sits somewhere between 6% and $2.75 😉, whereas checking accounts don't carry those specific charges.

Yeah, I get that. So you're telling me that's literally the only difference? Fine then.

My mom mentioned there might be some kind of extra surcharge on stamps (not sure about the specific dates) for the Red Cross or something along those lines...
If that's true, shipping costs would basically double... Does anyone actually know what's going on with this?
Or maybe it’s just something happening at the local Post Office... I think I heard something similar back in December...

So, I’ve actually been shipping out quite a few packages lately—mostly just various bits of clothing I’ve been clearing out—and it turns out some of the girls have been placing orders, which is honestly so sweet of them, and I really am grateful for the support. But, as I'm finding out, there's always that pesky issue of shipping costs hanging over everything. $5.00I always make sure to pack everything in envelopes so securely that there’s absolutely no way anything could possibly go wrong, you know? I take my time with it. But I was sending a package to this one girl recently, and she actually had the nerve to turn around and tell me—completely out of nowhere—that it felt like it was sent by a woman. $7.00 Taxes. Honestly, I found myself asking exactly how they work and why they even exist in the first place—as if that were a new concept—but then I realized it’s just been this way since forever. $5.00 It’s just so incredibly disheartening, honestly... how can someone suddenly claim to be twenty-one out of nowhere? She just shrugs it off like she hasn't a clue, acting as if that's the end of the conversation, and she absolutely refuses to budge on it. I find myself questioning whether that's even fair or remotely decent behavior, but regardless, the whole situation feels profoundly strange and deeply unsettling to me. 😕 Is it even possible for someone to pull something like that off? I can't help but wonder if she's just pocketing the cash for herself or what exactly the deal is here. 👎

Well, I suppose it all really comes down to how heavy the package is, doesn't it? I’ve had a few similar situations pop up with my own deliveries lately, so I can certainly empathize with what you're going through. $7.00 I have to say, I was looking back at those Nutra packages, and honestly, they felt much heavier than they actually were—it felt like they were easily over a pound each.

Those are commemorative stamps—they always cost more because a portion of the proceeds goes directly to the charity.
Honestly, I’m surprised the lady at the Post Office didn't just ask your mom if she wanted the special ones in the first place... 🙄

Sandra Clark52 said:That really just comes down to how much the package weighs—I had a few shipments go through the same way $7.00 mostly because what I was ordering felt heavier than a half-kilo or so

No way..
$4.75 It’s supposed to be for packages up to $1.75..
Maybe they just billed you for a standard ground shipment 🤷

You can actually use this link to run the numbers on shipping costs—at least to get a ballpark estimate..

$4.75 is what they usually charge for packages up to $1.75..
I wonder if they accidentally billed you for a certified letter instead of a standard parcel 🤷

If you head over to this link, you can actually run the numbers yourself to get at least a rough estimate of the shipping costs..

I was sending out a certified package recently, and for something weighing about 650g, the total came out to $7.00

It's not true that it's double... you pay $14.40 for postage plus $1.70 for that little stamp (all proceeds go to charity).
And it's mandatory not optional. At my local branch, they have this "notice" posted that explains exactly why and who the campaign is for 😉

Sandra Clark52 said:I sent it via certified mail and a 650g shipment cost me $7.00

Yeah, but that’s not technically a package...🙂
And that's exactly where you run into trouble. You sent it as certified mail, but you should be sending it as a package—just toss it in a box and call it a day. If it stays under 5lbs, you're looking at a flat $14.40 every single time.
Otherwise, the folks at the post office love to give you a hard time if you try to use those padded bubble mailers instead. 🙂

.

Strange...
I just sent out a package the other day and didn't pay a cent for any extra stickers or whatever...
Honestly, ever since they started tacking these extra fees onto packages, it feels like the USPS is just straight-up robbing people...
They've seriously lost their minds 🙄

Beyond that, having a standard checking account means you can check your balance at an ATM, withdraw cash, set up installment plans, or even cash checks—though that might depend on your salary if you're employed. You can also get a security token to use online banking, which is pretty convenient. With just a basic savings account, you can't really do much; it’s basically just a piece of plastic, and if you actually need to withdraw money or check your balance, you're stuck waiting in line at a Chase branch or something.

They've actually lost it 🙄

Dunno, I think last week they were charging for it.
Looks like it's happening now too.
Some other girl—not sure who—warned everyone about this on the sales thread 😉

Whatever, if it's actually for charity, I don't care about that extra $1.70. I was shipping three boxes that day anyway 🙂

Some other girl—not sure who—already flagged this over on the marketplace thread 😉

But whatever, if this money is actually going to charity, I really don't care about that extra $1.70—especially since I was shipping out three different packages that day.🙂

So, I don't really know...
Well, actually, I haven't checked yet—I think it was maybe two weeks ago.🤔
If it's genuinely for a good cause, then fine by me.🙂

I don't know, I just remember her telling me there was a 50% discount on the brand. And I think I saw something similar over at Target, too. Plus, yeah, it's definitely required. Maybe it depends on whether it's a small parcel or a full package, I guess... I couldn't say for sure.

They hit me with that extra dollar charge on a package I sent out yesterday too—didn't even bother asking first—but honestly, it’s not like anyone’s going to go broke over $1.70, though I suppose for some people, it actually adds up 😉
