Does the shipping fee stay the same regardless of whether the item's price is higher or lower? I had a clerk at the local UPS store insisting it was identical whether the value was $33 or $333.
But now that I'm looking at their official website, it turns out she was completely wrong! 🀷

From what I've gathered, if the package value stays under $33, shipping should only run about $1.25... I think we've already touched on this earlier in this thread.

I'm doing the math on a package I sent the other day $30 value
according to the rate sheet: for destinations under 5k, it's $11.40 plus 3.66% of the declared value, which totals $14.69β€”exactly what I paid for shipping πŸ‘
so there's clearly no error πŸ˜‚

That description of yours is more than just accurate. πŸ˜‰

If this has already been covered, my bad. I can’t keep up with everything because my signal keeps dropping out and killing my connection...
Can you actually ship something in one of those padded mailers as a package? My local USPS clerk was trying to tell me today that it doesn't count as a package, so I just gave them a little attitude and paid the extra fees for three "certified letters" instead $23...

Sure. Just make sure the package is at least 9x14 cm, wrapped in light-colored paper, and uses staples. An envelope works perfectly fine too!

It had the sticker, the bright paper, and the dimensions 😒
what a total scam...😲

The excuse? Apparently, since it wasn't a box, it was just going to get lost among the other packages. Because clearly, nothing counts as a package unless it's a cardboard box.

Employees like that at HP belong in a work camp.

Why bother with just plain white paper and twine? Why not use a protective envelope? A few days ago, I received mine in this large yellow envelopeβ€”it felt more like a package. I had to head down to the Post Office, grab one of those little slips to declare the value, write the value right on the envelope itself, and then finally send it off...

I did... but when I tried to drop it off, the clerk told me it couldn't go as a package because it'd just get lost in the shuffle. Apparently, it has to be sent as certified mail. πŸ™‚πŸ™‚

Personally, I just slide everything into an envelope, wrap it up tight with some twine on the outside, and ship it as a parcel. Just tell her you've done it that way before without any issues. All you have to do is fill out that customs declaration form, list the value, and call it a day. πŸ™‚

What’s actually the difference between an option with a buyback versus one based on a cash settlement?

Yeah, I dealt with that nonsense today too. I show up with a boxβ€”definitely larger than the minimum sizeβ€”fill out all the paperwork, and then the lady at the counter tries to charge me like $30 or something.
As if that’s enough for a shipment. What happens when a 40-pound box drops on it? And the packaging itselfβ€”I ran out of the heavy-duty brown paper, so I used some thinner white wrap, which isn't my first time doing it, but still... isn't that risky? Packages have to travel, and it's pouring rain outside. What if the whole thing gets soaked and the address just smears away? *splat-splat-gone*. It shouldn't be treated as certified mail. Think about it. I told her straight up that I've done this plenty of times, the box is sturdy enough, and it'll be fineβ€”just send it as a regular package. Suddenly, she had no problem doing it that way.

Anyway, ladies, don't let them push you around.

Hey everyone, looks like you all know way more about dealing with all these mail and payment headaches than I do..πŸ™‚

A friend of mine can't make it, so I'm trying to sell her ticket. Now I'm kind of stressing out about the best way to swap it with a buyerβ€”I really don't want to get scammed or end up losing out on the cash..

We're talking about a $233 value here, so I'm wondering what the safest play is. Should I have them Zelle me the money upfront, or is it better to do some kind of COD thing? Like, how do I even send this over? It’s basically just a 😁 worth of paper, right? And what am I looking at in terms of shipping costs for something like that?🀷

Thanks in advance!

Seriously, why does my hair stand on end whenever I read: "sending to the company"...
Send it as a ransom, obviously..$8.25 shipping fees.. just grab a standard envelope at the UPS Store, bring it home, and then pack it up all by yourself...

Sorry if I’m totally veering off topic here... but I was wondering if someone could walk me through how paying via money order actually works? Up until now, I’ve always just paid for my packages with cash upon delivery, so I’ve never really dealt with those general payment slips before. Does the person sending me the package send over a digital slip that I pay later, or am I supposed to go out and track down a physical one somewhere? Honestly, I’m feeling a little clueless about this whole process, so if anyone could clear things up for me, I would be so incredibly grateful!πŸ˜•πŸ˜•πŸ€·

Is there any way I can just drop my package off directly at a FedEx location to avoid dealing with all those extra postal fees?

What if you just went to the bank and wired the money?

My mom just calls up a number, and then a guy from FedEx shows up right at her door, grabs the package, collects the shipping feeβ€”whatever they call it these daysβ€”and heads out...
