Dammit, you gotta match his energy or he’s just gonna walk all over you $1.75.. I definitely wouldn't do $1.75 as a bundle, because last time I tried that, I ended up getting hit with 7 or 8 packages in a single week... 🙈

Some people are seriously clueless. There’s an actual line item for package delivery $1.75 right there in the USPS rate sheet if you bother to look. So basically, when they bring the package straight to your door, yeah, they can charge you $1.75, but you also have the option to just tell them "no thanks," grab the slip, and go pick it up at the local post office yourself to dodge those $1.75 fees.

Yeah, there's just a massive crowd here willing to throw $1.75 and they haven't even bothered to try and dodge it 🙄

The USPS guy always charges me $1.75 for every single little package that shows up... I don't even bother asking why or how it works...

I just hand him $1.75 because, honestly, I'm way too impatient whenever I'm waiting on something to arrive!!!!!!!!!!!

Who cares about paying $1.75? If he’s in a massive rush, he can just deal with the damn post office himself, fine by me.
On the flip side, I’m never far from a FedEx, I’m practically always nearby or have to swing by one anyway, and look, all due respect to them, but I am NOT dropping $1.75 on every single package because, thank God, I get enough of them as it is. Five bucks here, five bucks there, it adds up, and honestly, charging extra like that feels like a total rip-off.
When they deliver it to you, if you turn it down, it’s way easier for them to just print out a slip and send it back to the facility rather than dealing with all that paperwork, so you might as well just take it right then and there.

Steven Castillo11 said:Someone please chime in. There is a specific line item for package delivery $1.75 which is clearly listed in the USPS rate sheet. Basically—when they drop a package at your door—they can charge you $1.75; however, you always have the option to turn them away, grab your slip, and just pick it up at the local post office to avoid those extra $1.75.

Could you please be so kind as to provide a direct link to the price list where that specific fee is highlighted?

As someone who receives packages regularly, I have never—not once—had a mail carrier ask me for any cash. It’s simple: I sign for my parcel, and we're done.

Shipping rates are calculated based on weight—heavier means more expensive. If I pay the higher rate, I don't care if the USPS delivers it via a bicycle, a skateboard, an SUV, a sedan, a van, or a semi-truck. The postage is settled based on the weight alone.

If those $1.75 were actually a legitimate cost, the clerk at the post office would say, "Sir, this package is over 2 lbs and requires a larger vehicle, so there's an additional $1.75 charge."

Some might argue that those $1.75 are necessary because of the weight, but I say that since shipping already scales with weight, there shouldn't be any extra, unnecessary surcharges.

The real question here is whether the little package was sent as certified mail that the mail carrier just drops off at your door, or if it’s an actual parcel service where they handle it differently, you know what I mean? Like, either you get a slip left at your house telling you to go pick it up at the local USPS office for free, or if they set it up through a delivery service, they'll try to bring it right to you, but they might charge you extra for that convenience $1.75—and if you turn them down, you just get the notice and head to the post office at no extra cost.

But look, let's not overthink this whole thing because I ship and receive stuff all the time and I pretty much know the drill, so I'll give you the answer and back it up with a link:

Just pay close attention to the specific parcel services under the delivery section $1.75

And honestly, if you want more info, there's a really solid guide on how to ship things

That’s what we call sound argumentation! 👍 Now, I certainly realize that those $1.75 don't constitute theft—but honestly, I’m going to demand a receipt every single time, just to ensure the mail carrier isn't padding their own pockets. 🙂

He can't just pocket the cash whenever he feels like it. It's not that simple. He's accountable; there’s a paper trail showing exactly how many packages he delivered and exactly how much money he owes the company based on those deliveries. It's not like he's just making up numbers on a whim.

...does anyone actually know where I can pick up some shrink wrap for these packages?
..I could maybe just grab some thinner stuff from home, or ??
😕I know this sounds totally ridiculous, but 😂

If you find yourself working with really thin spaghetti, just fold it in half before wrapping up your package—that’s my go-to trick, and I’ve never had a single issue with the USPS regarding my shipments.😁

😕 I know this sounds silly, but 😂

If you're going to need it more often, you can just head to Home Depot 😁 and get a standard roll of shrink wrap. They'll give you a massive roll for about $4.00...

Hey everyone, quick question for you guys😕 I sent off a package via certified mail with COD on June 17th headed to Los Angeles, and it still hasn't shown up... honestly, at this point, I’m starting to think it’s gone for good. Thank goodness I kept my receipt, though. Has anyone else dealt with this before? How does it actually work? If the package is lost or damaged, will the post office refund the amount listed on my receipt? I sent three perfumes in there. Also, how fast are they usually able to track down a missing package? If anyone knows anything... pleeease let me know! 🙏

Look, just give it about two weeks from the date you sent it, and if you haven't heard anything back or seen your package, head straight down to the Post Office. You’ll have to fill out some paperwork and pay a claim fee—it’s roughly $1.75—but once they finish their investigation, if they find out the shipment was lost, they'll either pay out the full value or, if it was sent via certified mail, five times the postage cost. It's all clearly laid out on the back of your receipt

You'll have to fill out a claim and pay a fee (around $1.75). Once they look into it, if they find it was lost, they'll reimburse you for the item's value or the declared amount. For certified mail, they actually cover five times the postage cost—it's all written right there on your receipt back home.

Thanks so much for the heads-up! 👍

You can track your certified mail online quite easily. All you have to do is head over to the USPS website and enter that thirteen-character tracking number—two letters, followed by numbers, then two more letters—to see exactly where your package is currently sitting. Personally, I've had my fair share of bad luck with this... there were several instances where even my certified mail simply never arrived... eventually, I managed to get a partial refund
