Sandra Reyes said:hey, I have a quick question... I need to send some money through the post office, but how does that actually work? Do I just show up with the cash and tell them I want to send it to a specific address, or do I need to bring a payment slip? I'm looking to pay toward an address rather than a bank account specifically.

Well, I'm honestly not entirely sure if you can even deposit money directly to a physical address like thatโ€”it sounds a bit unusual, doesn't it?โ€”but, in my experience, the most straightforward way to handle this would be to simply fill out a standard money order or a check. That way, you can transfer the funds directly into a checking or savings account. Just a little heads-up, though: sometimes those secondary accounts can trigger extra tax implications, so most girls I know tend to stick to depositing straight into a standard checking account to keep things simple.
The service fee for a single transaction is $1.75 if you're doing it right there at the post office!

For everything else, I suppose you could look into

I know all about that one too, but it seems like they're looking for something else entirely because what they have right now just isn't cutting it for them...

I'm not sure what else they could possibly want. ๐Ÿคท
Just enter that and then your account number. That should be it.
They might eventually ask for a verification call or something, but you can probably get through without it.

William Jones30 said:Iโ€™m with you on that. We can be pretty awful sometimesโ€”look, minorities can be difficultโ€”but if we act like this, everyone else starts thinking the whole group is just as bad.

That bolded part? Honestly, thatโ€™s some of the worst advice Iโ€™ve ever heard. Don't just show up here crying to the forum after your package gets smashed, lost, or damaged when you intentionally undervalued it $27, especially when itโ€™s actually worth way more. ๐Ÿ™„

Just seeing the reply now... So, I guess that logic applies to packages valued at up to $27 or maybe around $27... but if the value is significantly higher than that... well, I suppose everyone just decides for themselves how much of a risk they want to take, right?

Help, someone save me!

So, I dropped off a package last Friday at noon at the post office in Virginia Beach. Itโ€™s headed to Washington, D.C. They told me it should be there by Tuesday.
I was really banking on it arriving by Tuesdayโ€”you know, today.
But nope, nothing yet. Still waiting.

Whatโ€™s your experience been like with them? How long does it usually take on this route?
Please tell me I'm not such a jinx that my most important package in the last year actually goes missing... ๐Ÿ˜ข I'm really hoping it's just because of the weekend...

Maybe 2360000-100000013? ๐Ÿค”
Though honestly, they should probably just have a full list of all those numbers. They're messing around with them every single day anyway... ๐Ÿ˜•

It'll probably show up today.
Keep in mind, if you sent it on Friday, it likely didn't even leave the post office until Monday. It was supposed to be there yesterday, but man... sometimes it takes three days just to get across town for me, so... that's the mail for you.๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ‘Ž

Don't worry, it'll get there.
Plus, if you sent it via UPS, you have that tracking confirmation, so if it doesn't show up, you can just file a claim.

But either way, expect it to arrive sometime today.๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm crossing my fingers it shows up today too!!๐Ÿ‘

I've had plenty of times where things just drag on forever, especially if they're moving over a weekendโ€”that's when everything hits the fan. Friday or Saturday? Absolute worst days. Youโ€™re better off sticking to Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday if you actually want stuff moved.

Then again, I sent something out on a Saturday headed to Key West, and the damn thing was already there by Monday... clearly, the folks in NYC are just taking a long nap or something...

Michelle Fisher98 said:Honestly, this is what gets under my skin the most!!
ugh...

The other day, I went to the post office hoping to grab a bubble mailer because I had something urgent to send. They didn't have any.
So, I ended up using an old envelope I had lying around at home. It already had an address on it, but it had never actually been mailed, so I just slapped a new label over the old one with the correct address...

BUT!!
No, apparently you can't just wrap something in any random piece of paper and ship it, blah blah blah... I'm standing there trying to explain myself like an idiot, but she simply refuses to believe it's even a valid envelope!
Just because it isn't one of those bright yellow ones and has some manufacturer's name printed on the back, she thinks it's invalid.
Then she tells me, "Fine, I'll give you a different one, just use that instead."
Since I was in such a rush to get this sent out, I just went along with it.
Then, after she charged me $2.00 for the smallest envelope available, she refused to give me a receipt and wouldn't let me cancel the shipment.
I swear, I was seconds away from losing my cool!

Ugh, I dealt with the exact same kind of nonsense today. I was carrying a package containing a few books, packed in a shoebox with both my address and the recipient's clearly printed on an A4 sheet, just like I've always done...
And she has the nerve to ask me what I think I'm doing, saying it can't be sent that way and that I need to find specific packaging... I was like, excuse me? Why not? Every single package I've ever received has come in a shoebox, a bubble mailer, a meat container, or something else entirelyโ€”always something new.
She insists she can't process it like that. She asks if I want to go find specialized wrapping paper... then offers me a box, but only if I pay extra. Fine, I agreed. I settled for a bright yellow USPS box that she told me I had to assemble, fill, and tape up myself. After I did all that work, she hands me more paperwork that I have to fill out and tuck inside *after* the package is already sealed. My patience completely evaporated. I listed the value of the contents as $17 and the whole thing came to $28.90 (zero profit), but I left her a $30 tip because I was genuinely in a hurry; otherwise, I wouldn't have given her a cent extra.
And I should mention, she was late getting to the counter because she was eating, and when she saw the line was long, she just kept chewing through the whole interaction. It's not that she was being outright rude, I just don't have the words. It's bizarre that it's "impossible" to send a package this way at this location, considering everything I've ever ordered online arrived without issue. ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„
Oh, and naturally, I didn't get a receipt either.

The people working at the post office are just running you in circles!!!

Seriously, can't you guys just look for someone else? If I were there, Iโ€™d be asking to speak to the manager immediatelyโ€”like, why was this fine yesterday but suddenly a problem today?
Just wait until you see how they respond!!

The package arrives $4.75 and it costs next to nothing if the value stays under $27!!! And I don't even think it's heavier than 10 pounds... I once sent a box that was maybe 6 or 7 pounds and it went through at that lower rate without a hitch!!!!

And this whole thing about not being allowed to use shoe boxes? It's a total scam. They just want to force you to buy their overpriced branded boxes from $3.25....๐Ÿ˜ฒ

I used to send books wrapped in old wallpaper!!!! Yeah, you heard me. Iโ€™d wrap them in scraps of leftover wallpaper I found around the house.... taped all the edges tight, tied it up with some twine, and everything arrived perfectly every single time!!!

Look, if you follow their rules, itโ€™s supposed to be wrapped in solid-colored paperโ€”cream, white, maybe pinkish... that's just how they roll. If you show up with some random box wrapped differently, they technically have the right to turn you away if they're feeling particularly difficult.

Does anyone know where I can pick up some twine for tying up packages? I am absolutely not dropping off a $3.25 twenty-second errand just to have them tell me it's not wrapped right... I'd rather just drive all the way to Chicago myself! I'm thinking they're going to demand it be tied up since the box is a bit bulky, and honestly, I don't trust them to wrap my stuff for me anyway.

Try a grocery store, Target, a bookstore, or even a hardware store like Home Depot.๐Ÿ˜‰

Btw, did you ever get that issue with your bank account sorted out?
I'm really curious what ended up being the problem.

By the way, did she ever get that whole mess with her checking account sorted out?
I'm actually really curious to hear what ended up happening...

Ugh, honestly, it was in this tiny little rural town somewhere in the Midwest where the tellers at the bank and the folks at the post office probably didn't even finish high school, so don't be surprised! In the end, she just drove over to Chase, paid the fee$1.75 and deposited it right into her Wells Fargo account.
And before all that headache, they wouldn't even let her make the deposit at Bank of America (can you believe the nerve? You can do it at Chase but not at BofA!)
Man, if I had been there, I would have just handled it myselfโ€”the lady working at the bank is a total powerhouse, sheโ€™d probably walk it over to Bank of America if she had to...of course...๐Ÿ˜
