vividtinker13 said:Hey guys,
when you're shipping out a bubble mailer weighing something like 9 ounces, what's your go-to method?
Do you send it as a package or just a certified letter?
And what kind of damage does it do to your wallet?

Everything you need to figure that out is right here on this site, so take a quick look. 🙂

http://www.usps.com/ship/making- sure-it-gets-there.page

Just compare the price for certified mail versus a standard package. Honestly, if you're sending anything high-value, you're better off shipping it as a package with declared value insurance...

The main thing is that it needs to be larger than 9x14 cm, I believe. It also needs to have a loop and shouldn't be prone to rejection.

If I'm understanding this right, when I drop a package off at the USPS, they basically hand me the full value of the contents right then and there, and that's it for me. Then, once the recipient gets the box, they just pay that same amount to the post office...
It honestly sounds way too good to be true... I bet those insurance fees for high-value stuff are absolutely insane!

Anyone know??😢

Of course not. First off, you seem more interested in cash on delivery than the actual value of the package. Second, just head over to www.usps.com and use their shipping calculator to figure out whatever details you need. Cash on delivery means you send the item, they collect the money from the recipient, and then the mail carrier brings that cash back to you.

Sandra Brooks91 said:Not at all! First off, you're looking at cash on delivery rather than an insured package. Also, just head over to www.usps.com and use their calculator—you can figure out everything you need right there. Cash on delivery is when you send the item, they collect the money from the recipient, and then the mail carrier brings that cash back to you later.

It looks like I’ll have to make another trip to the post office, I totally forgot to ask them... I know cash on delivery is pricey, but I honestly thought an insured package worked differently. I was thinking the post office would just pay me directly, and the person receiving it would pay them that amount, instead of them carrying a package to her and then bringing her money back to me...

I think you’ve got things a little mixed up—you don't seriously think the US Postal Service is just going to hand you cash upfront for a package they haven't even delivered yet, right??!! Come on 😕
I'm gonna hit up the post office to send out about ten of these once I have enough cash on hand, and let them figure out if the recipient actually wants to pay the amount 😁😁

But seriously though. Every package has a declared value, which basically just dictates how much you pay for the shipping insurance.
There is also such a thing as a registered letter that can hold cash, which gets paid out to the recipient later.
What you're describing doesn't exist, and Sandra Brooks91 is spot on—the only way to actually get money from a shipment is to send it as a C.O.D. package through something like FedEx or UPS.
The price depends on how heavy the box is, where it's going, and how fast you want it there. That covers the shipping part. For C.O.D., the recipient pays an extra 3.66% fee on top of whatever amount you're requesting, capped at $27.

Well, just head over to the clothing swap/resale section—you can actually list men's gear there too, along with all the accessories like shoes, sneakers, and whatever else you've got lying around...
Honestly, if you scroll through enough pages, you'll stumble upon a guy's item at least every 25 posts or so...

I'm not quite following—what does the Post Office have to do with any of this?

I'm having some trouble sending you a private message...😁

Calling all experts—I really need some help here. I’ve got this gorgeous cobalt blue Weimar dinnerware set for 12 people (plates, soup bowls, sugar bowls, creamer sets, teapots, you name it). I haven't actually sat down to count every single piece, but the cabinet is absolutely stuffed with it. Any idea how I can figure out what this stuff is actually worth?

So, quick question... if a seller actually manages to get my package out the door by Friday before 3:00 PM, when am I actually seeing it? Like, does it show up on Saturday, or am I stuck waiting until Monday??

Thanks! Cheers

Here is yet another blonde looking for some guidance on her next move 😁 :
I'm planning on mailing out some small items—just a tiny batch—but since I've never actually done this before, I am completely lost. Does anyone know if there's a real difference between using one of those large bubble mailers versus just sending something without any padding? And how exactly should a package be wrapped if I don't use an envelope? Does it strictly need to be in a cardboard box? Also, regarding the wrapping paper, does it have to be a solid color, or can I go with something colorful? Oh, and what exactly is this string people keep mentioning that’s supposed to be tied around the package?🤷

Thanks, but if I actually had the time to sit down and read everything, I wouldn't be asking! 🤷 It looks like I'll just have to swing by the forum later and cross my fingers that the lady running this place is actually having a better day today!

Angela Ruiz43 said:Here I am again—just another blonde with a few more questions to toss into the void. What’s on my mind this time? 😁 :
I’m looking to mail out some small items—just a tiny amount, really—but since I’ve never actually sent anything through the mail before, I am completely in the dark. How does this whole process even work? Does anyone know if there's a significant difference between using one of those heavy-duty bubble mailers versus just a standard envelope? And if I decide not to go the bubble mailer route, what are the requirements for packaging? Does it absolutely have to be in a cardboard box, or is there some other way? Also, regarding the wrapping—is the paper required to be a solid, single color, or can I use something more colorful? Oh, and one more thing: what exactly is this "twine" everyone keeps mentioning that supposedly needs to be tied around the package?🤷

Look, just buy one of those large bubble mailers—you know, the ones that actually protect what’s inside. Stuff your items in there, write out the destination address clearly, and then just wrap the whole thing up with some twine to make it look like a proper package. You can pick those up at any Staples or even a local CVS. Once you get to the Post Office, fill out the shipping form, make sure to list the declared value on both the envelope and the form itself, and hand it over to the clerk. It's really that simple.

If you’re sending off a package or a box, honestly, the paperwork and the twine are all the same headache regardless. But if you want to do it right? Just wrap the whole thing in some plain, solid-colored paper first—something simple like white or kraft brown. Wrap it up, and that's really all there is to it. 🙂

Austin Ward4 said:I have a question... and please, don't judge me if it sounds a bit stupid. Is there actually a section here dedicated to men's items? I've been scrolling through, but I can't seem to find anything. I'm looking to sell some stuff... does such a thread even exist?

There isn't a dedicated thread specifically for men's items, but we do have a section for buying and trading clothing. Feel free to drop your listing there—just make sure you actually sit down and read the rules in the first post before you post anything. 🙂

If you're sending a box instead of an envelope, the process for the paperwork and the twine is exactly the same; just make sure to wrap the box in plain paper first—something simple like white or brown. And that's really all there is to it. 🙂

Thanks, Angela Flores76! The package is sent, everything went great, it was accepted, and I didn't even need the twine.

I've read through everything carefully ☕ but I have one more question because I honestly couldn't find the answer anywhere 🙄
I Bought that large A4-sized envelope. I'm wondering, does that size require just one stamp $1.25 or multiple? Also, can this be sent as regular mail, or does it have to be certified? And can I just drop it in a blue USPS mailbox (even if it's a tight fit), or do I absolutely have to take it to the post office? 🤷 I was planning on waiting for the mailman tomorrow so I could catch him and sort it out 😉

You just head up to the service counter, hand over your paperwork, and say "standard, please." If you already have a pass, they’ll probably ask you to cover the difference. Honestly, though, your best bet is what you mentioned—just try asking the older guy if he can take it on his behalf.

It’s not even about staying up late to post, honestly. I was just trying to let a girl know today how much her shipping was going to cost, but now I’m stuck wondering if a single $1.25 stamp will cut it or if I’ll need more 🤷 instead.
