What is the best way to ship shoes? Should I put them in a generic shoe box, wrap everything up, and send it as a package?

That is what I do. Just list the value $27 and then you can see the shipping cost.$4.75

Do I need to wrap the box in twine too, or is just paper enough?

Yeah, and with some twine too.

Regarding that white paper wrap—are we talking about standard thin office paper, maybe two layers deep, or is there a specific heavy-duty kind intended for this?

It works, provided it’s a lighter shade—think cream, beige, white, or yellow—and the address remains easy to read. 🙂

I accidentally misplaced Branimirov's phone number while trying to reschedule a package delivery—does anyone happen to have it handy? Thanks.

It’s my first time navigating this forum, and I’m attempting to make a purchase, but I honestly can't tell if I sent my message correctly. It might sound a bit silly, but could someone please explain which of those three options listed below I should be using to send my message?
thanks

Look, when you spot an ad you're interested in, just check who posted it—their username is right there on the left side of the listing. Click on their name, and you'll see a menu pop up with options like "view profile" or "send private message." Just click "send private message" to that user, and it’ll automatically open the compose page for you. Type out what you need and hit 'send.' Simple enough, isn't it?🙂

Hey everyone, quick question—does the local Post Office here in Metković actually stay open on Saturdays? Like, if I needed to swing by, what kind of hours are we looking at?
Thanks!😍

Quick question...

I’ve sent out a few packages before—usually just a shoebox wrapped in white paper with a standard shipping label attached—and it was always pretty straightforward. I’d pay about $5.00 for items worth up to $33, and that was it. No surprise fees or anything extra for the person receiving it.
But the last thing I sent was to a girl living in a dorm in Chicago, and the mail carrier actually made her sign for it and pay an extra five bucks on the spot. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Any idea why she’d be hit with an extra five dollars?

Also, one more thing...

Is it okay to send something like a necklace in a regular envelope instead of one of those padded bubble mailers? I mean, since it's not flat like a sheet of paper, will that be an issue?

thx

The mail carrier might charge you an extra $1.75 if they hand-deliver the package right to your doorstep. Honestly, that’s perfectly fair and pretty standard practice.
If you aren't home when they swing by, they'll just leave a slip, and then you've got a five-day window to head down to the local Post Office to pick it up.

Don't be stingy over a few bucks; just grab one of those small bubble mailers and tape it up securely. There's a decent chance some random person at the facility will crack open a flimsy envelope just to snoop, acting like they didn't see anything.

I paid for shipping using a standard envelope $6.25 :/ certified mail, but with my envelope. Usually, tracking stays around 14-$5.00 days for both packages and boxes, but now everything was just an envelope and I ended up paying $1.25 more. No idea why 🤷

Because of the weight, anything under 500 grams is $5.75, but once you cross 500, it’s 21 or more

I’ve sent shoes in boxes that were definitely heavier than this before, and I only paid about $14$5.00 :/

I mean, you probably weren't shipping those shoes the way they actually recommend; you likely just sent them as a standard package.
Plus, weight and pricing vary wildly depending on which carrier you're using, whether it's USPS or FedEx.

So, I went to ship out some sneakers—they were still in their original box,
tied up with some twine, everything looking perfectly fine—but the lady at the post office tells me straight up that she won't accept them that way. She insisted they had to go in an envelope, claiming the shipping would be more than the usual $14.40.
I told her absolutely not, and she just snaps back at me, asking what I think I'm playing at, basically saying it’s my way or the highway.
The thing is, I’ve sent plenty of packages before and it’s always been right around $14.40.

And honestly? We just went back and forth for ages.
She eventually bullied me into using one of those padded envelopes, then proceeded to charge me $35 for shipping plus the cost of the envelope itself! $1.75
I wasn't about to just hand over that much money—I kept insisting I wanted to send it as a standard package, and we just kept arguing and arguing. In the end, my boyfriend just stepped in, paid the shipping fee, and practically dragged me out of the USPS office, telling me to just calm down...

So yeah, I ended up sending it as a tracked envelope because she was dead set on the idea that I couldn't ship it as a regular package. I'm honestly at a loss here.
$8.25 Now I'm totally out of pocket, and it's not even like the item was worth anything significant.
If I had been there by myself, I probably wouldn't have even bothered paying her inflated rates, but because of how it went down, I just lost money for no reason at all.
I think I'm officially done using the mail service for a while.

If you wrapped the box in solid light-colored paper, attached the string, and actually FILLED OUT the shipping form marking the package service option, there’s simply no room for them to argue or manipulate the situation. If you skipped any of those steps... well, now you know for next time. And look, it’s your money—don't let anyone talk you into spending it on something you didn't sign up for 🙂
