I feel like I’m asking you guys a million questions lately, but I really need some help here🙂

So, basically, what’s the deal with bubble mailers? Like, is there any specific size limit for sending them as a package, or can I just toss
ANY size envelope in the mail and call it a day?
I've been looking everywhere for those larger A4 or A3 padded envelopes, but I haven't had much luck finding them in bulk packs where you actually get a decent amount for a good price. Does anyone know where I can pick up a big pack of those around Chicago or maybe just a major suburb nearby, and what kind of damage am I going to take on the wallet if I buy them?

Thanks so much🙏

It doesn't really matter what dimensions you choose; you can just send the biggest damn package possible—it’ll land right $1.75

So, once again, I’m hearing that the minimum package dimensions are 9x14 cm. 😁

You can find those little pocket packs in all sorts of sizes at the subway stations
I'm not exactly sure what the price tag is—but they definitely seem cheaper than grabbing them at the Post Office

Yeah, thanks guys.🙂
Sometimes I run out of those little poly mailers for packing up clothes, which is honestly such a pain when you're in the middle of a shipping marathon, but from here on out, I’ve decided I'm just going to send envelopes as actual packages too.☕
I mean, honestly, what are we even talking about here? Is it just me, or does that whole vibe—that specific mix of spaghetti and... well, whatever "voila" is supposed to imply in this context—just feel like one of those weirdly specific cravings you get at 2 AM when you're staring at the fridge in a dark kitchen? It’s like, you know that feeling when you’re driving through somewhere like Chicago or maybe just cruising down a quiet street in Austin, and suddenly you just *need* a massive bowl of carbs? That's what this brings to mind. It's such a random thought, but I can't stop thinking about how some things just pair together in your head without any actual logic behind it. Like, is it a culinary masterpiece or just a chaotic snack? I'm leaning towards chaotic, but hey, sometimes chaos is exactly what the soul needs, right?😍
I usually just stick to sending everything via certified mail, you know? Sometimes the tracking fees end up being like, seventeen or twenty bucks extra, but honestly, I don't even sweat it. It’s really not worth losing sleep over a couple of bucks here or there when you just want to make sure things actually get where they're supposed to go.🙂

Not sure if this is the right spot for this question, but does anyone know exactly what info someone from out of the country needs to send me so they can wire money directly to my checking account? I have a foreign currency account too, but I'm totally lost on how that part actually works... If you know the drill, feel free to shoot me a DM!🙂

I headed down to the local Post Office today to drop off a few printed documents, only to have the clerk tell me they don't even handle print mailings anymore. Now, I am aware that they recently phased out certain types of certified mail services, but telling me I can't even send standard printed envelopes? That honestly sounds completely absurd to me.

If the post office loses a shipment, we’re basically losing money no matter how we decide to send it—which is really what 👎
comes down to. If I go the certified mail route and they lose it, I just get back a certain multiple of what I paid for postage. Let's be real—it's peanuts. It won't even come close to covering the cost of the item I lost, let alone enough to refund the person who bought it from me.
Now, if I send it as a standard package, things are slightly better because I can claim the declared value of the contents. But even then, it usually isn't enough to make both the seller and the buyer whole—unless I declare double the actual value, but then my shipping costs skyrocket too.
At the end of the day, it's not even about making sure the buyer and seller aren't out of pocket; it's just that I don't see the point of the "certified" option. I pay a premium for it, but if it goes missing, I get back next to nothing. 🤷
I actually had a certified letter go missing once, and I ended up getting maybe $5 or $6 back.
Am I totally off base here for thinking that just sending it as a regular package is actually the smarter move?

You're thinking about this the right way. You should always declare the actual value of the goods being shipped, even if it costs a few extra dollars

So, I finally dropped off that decorative necklace box in a bubble mailer today
—but get this—it somehow managed to slip right out of my hands along with the envelope and the certified mail receipt $4.00....
There’s this new lady working at the local Post Office, and honestly, she was perfectly fine—super polite and helpful, actually
—so I’m really hoping that total nightmare of a woman—the one who caused me so much stress and cost me a fortune—finally got herself fired ☕

After several months of smooth trading, I’ve finally run into my first major shipping headache. A package likely went missing, and since my dad was the one actually dropping it off for me, he managed to lose the receipt—so now we're essentially stuck...
First, let me be clear: I know the responsibility falls on me for not ensuring everything was handled correctly, especially since the proof of postage is gone. But honestly, the way the USPS treats us is becoming completely unacceptable. I don't mean to offend anyone, but at my local branch, the five postal workers there collectively seem to struggle with even the most basic logic.
I’m not trying to disparage them personally, but they lack a fundamental understanding of their jobs, and they've become a bit of a local joke. I'm bringing this up because it doesn't surprise me anymore when packages fail to arrive, vanish into thin air, or get sent back.
On top of that, I find it absolutely absurd that when I asked for advice on how to ship an item, an employee actually suggested I should only use certified mail because if it gets lost, I could at least file a claim using a receipt.
Hold on a second—isn't the whole point of the post office to deliver items regardless of what's inside, whether it's worth $20 or $667!!!!!!!! Should I really have to limit myself to hand-to-hand deliveries just because I can't trust my parcels to reach their destination? Or worse, will I end up with a torn envelope because some "genius" felt the need to poke at it to see what's inside?? To make matters even worse, there isn't a single person you can talk to who actually listens to complaints. It seems the only thing they're efficient at is hiking up shipping rates without any warning, which leaves me absolutely reeling every time I visit.
I am so incredibly frustrated and overwhelmed right now that I honestly feel like throwing in the towel on this entire trading business altogether.

Help - looking for some advice here 🙂

So, I need to mail off a shoe box and I'm kind of stumped on the best way to handle it. Should I just send it as a standard package? And does anyone have a rough idea of what the shipping costs might look like for something like that?
I want to give my friend a heads-up on how much she should Venmo me for the shipping before I head to the post office..

Thanks for the help!

Thanks so much for any help!

Just wrap the shoe box in some paper and send it through the USPS as a package, the shipping should be around $4.75😉.
Put her address in the bottom right corner, yours in the top left with a line through it, and you're all set...

Oh, thanks! But what about declaring the value? Do I actually need to write that down? Should I just list $33 the way all the girls on here suggest, even if it ends up costing more in shipping fees?🙄

Yeah, that $14.40 figure is right up to the $27 value. It’s actually a bit more expensive if you're looking at the $67 level, just like Chloe Moore65 mentioned earlier... you can find the exact breakdown calculated over on Reddit

It bugs me just as much. Why is certified mail even an option? It’s basically their way of admitting, "Yeah, we’re sloppy and we might lose your stuff." Is it really too much to ask that when you pay for shipping, the package actually shows up? 😢

This service is actually superior because you’re dealing with a parcel rather than just standard mail, which means the entire handling process is fundamentally different from the jump. Of course, in an ideal world, every single shipment would arrive exactly when it's supposed to. But we don't live in an ideal world. It sounds grim, but much like how data packets in a TCP/IP protocol are subject to errors and loss, physical shipments aren't immune to reality. People work, and people make mistakes—that’s why different shipping tiers even exist in the first place. If you aren't aware of that, are you even living in the real world?

What’s the best way to ship stuff over to Canada?
Like, if I just use USPS to send a package, what kind of shipping costs am I looking at?
Also, any tips on how to handle the payment side of things—currency, methods, etc.—without making it awkward?
If this has already been covered somewhere else, could someone just drop the links to those threads? Thanks. 🙂

shipping cost calculator—international orders

say we’re looking at a package weighing about 1 kilogram, which comes out to roughly $33 😲
