Should I use a box as a package with a declared value, or just an envelope as certified mail?
I'm fairly certain it weighs less than 250 grams... and the value is $23....
What would the price difference be between the first option and the second?

Thanks! 🙂

Oh, I wouldn't dream of sending that in an envelope. Honestly, when it comes to packaging, I’m a bit of a neurotic mess—I feel like the only thing that could actually destroy my shipments is a literal bomb. 🤣 If you try to shove a perfume bottle into a standard envelope, you simply don't have enough room to give it the extra cushioning it needs. Even with those bubble-mailers they sell at the drugstore, it feels risky.

You should probably check the USPS website for their specific regulations. I'm not entirely positive, but if I recall correctly, liquids can only be shipped as packages—and they absolutely must be properly insulated.

The minimum declared value you can list for a package is $27.
As for calculating the shipping costs, you can find all those calculators right on the USPS website.

Do I send it as a boxed package with a declared value, or just stick it in a padded envelope as certified mail?
It’s definitely under 250 grams... and the value is $23....
What kind of price difference am I looking at between those two options?

thanks 🙂

If you ask me, I sent perfume once by using certified mail via a padded envelope. I made sure to wrap it incredibly well in bubble wrap, taped it up tight, and then tucked it inside a small yellow protective sleeve before sealing that inside an even larger envelope. It arrived without a scratch. 🙂

I think you'll get a better deal if you go with the bundle. If you enter the value $27, it should only cost you about a dollar and change

Anyone here dealt with sending, receiving, or making payments from Canada lately?

How are you guys actually pulling it off?

Yeah, just pack it up nicely, wrap the box in some plain paper, tie it shut with some twine, fill out the forms you grab at the post office, and drop it in the mail.

Make sure to tell the lady at the service counter that you’re sending this as a package. 🙂

How on earth do you even manage that?

I managed to receive a payment from Canada once, but I had to go through Western Union to make it happen. 🙂>

Did you actually send anything? If I were you, I’d just ship it via UPS. Any idea what the shipping costs might look like? I was planning on swinging by the post office, but I probably won't get there until tomorrow or the day after.

Sent two COD packages out—one on the 5th, the other on the 14th. Both were delivered ages ago, but I still haven't seen a dime. I wouldn't be surprised about the second one, but the one from the 5th really should've cleared by now, especially since it was received and paid for last Monday. 🤷

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised about the second one, but for the one from early July? It really should have hit my account by now, especially since the package was signed for and paid for last Monday. 🤷

It’s incredibly strange that they haven't even processed the first one. 😕 🤷

I’m looking to ship some chocolate over to the United Kingdom—nothing crazy, just a few 7oz bars of Dorin or something, maybe up to 2 lbs total. Does anyone have tips on how to get this done cheap and fast before 😉 melts?

Is it smarter to go with a box or one of those bubble mailers? Like, should I send it as a package or just a parcel?
Do I actually need to declare what's inside, or can I just mark it as a gift?
Are they going to open it at the post office (here or over in the UK?)

Thanks!

Have you had a chance to swing by the Post Office yet? If I were you, I’d just show them that receipt you got when you first dropped off the package. That should give them exactly what they need to track down where the holdup is.

Hey there!

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a quick question. Say someone from Canada decides to sell me a used graphics card—they’ve got the receipt and the warranty ready to go—and they're offering it for $833 including the shipping costs (let's say it's sent via standard mail). Would I end up having to pay any extra fees on top of that, and if so, does anyone know roughly how much?
The reason I'm asking is just because it's coming from another country...

Thanks so much!

The mailman finally dropped off the cash yesterday. No clue why it took so damn long...

Does anyone know?
I really need to figure this out before I pull the trigger...

I've got a quick question... what’s the actual cost for a standard stamp for a regular letter these days?

Around $1.25 for a standard letter, maybe closer to 4 if it’s got some weight to it, $1.75...

I really need an answer on this one...

Check http://www.usps.com/ under international shipments. Or just give them a call; they usually get back to you within 24 hours.
