Jose Ramirez36 said:I have a few questions—I sent some critical documents in a large A4 envelope via certified mail to a specific address. I assumed there would be some sort of automated confirmation once the package reached its destination, but apparently, that requires an extra fee which I failed to account for at the counter.
It has been two weeks now. I called the office where the documents were supposed to arrive, but they are currently buried under a mountain of applications for the SATs, so checking on individual deliveries is clearly not their priority. I am wondering if I can contact the post office directly to confirm if the letter was delivered. If not, what is actually the practical difference between standard mail and certified mail? 😕
Thanks in advance.
ps. I might be acting a bit paranoid, but since this involves my SAT registration (and by extension, my college enrollment), I hope my anxiety is understandable. 🙂
Yeah, just head down to the post office with the receipt you got when you dropped it off, and they can look up the delivery status immediately.
I suspect even if you lost the receipt, they can track it using your name and the date of mailing; whenever my packages are delayed, I just give them my name, they pull up the system, and they see exactly where it stands.
Go as soon as possible, though; from what I know about the postal service, things go missing more often than people care to admit.
