Give me a break. At this rate, you’re going to need an extra 15 minutes just to get to work (and back). 🙂

By the way, I still haven't found the best way to cross the Golden Gate Bridge:

My current route is this:
I start at The Chrysler Building, then head toward the area near the big green building and the inspection station. Once I reach the HG spot, I cross the street to the MTA station, turn left into the street away from the bridge, follow it through the intersection, and end up just 50 meters from the Mississippi where I lift my bike onto the bridge.

Is this how you all do it?
I once tried going under the bridge—it was a nightmare because of the smell—and I tried to climb up, but I hit some stairs too early and had to backtrack. Since then, I have stuck to the route mentioned above.

(Hopefully that makes sense)

I used to take that same route toward the embankment, but then I’d veer left along the path—there's a paved road right next to it by Central Park—hit that bridge nearby (can't remember the name), and then cut past the NSB building to get where I was going.
Taking that way, it took me about 20 minutes from Union Station to the downtown area.

I am not sure I follow...
If I were traveling to Queens or somewhere similar...
What I really want to know is if there is a route with less turbulence when going from The Chrysler Building up toward the Golden Gate Bridge.

Everything's squared away. I'm heading back to the grind tomorrow and the day after.
We'll just have to see how the weather holds up next week, I guess.
But this week? I'm definitely hitting the road 622 miles on my new bike 🙂

So you aren't carrying your bike up those stairs—you're riding it—but you managed to dodge the roundabout if I caught that right.
In my book, that’s also the best way to go.

A fairy tale career... hmmm... 😁

I’d honestly get to the office on foot before I ever find the motivation to pull my bike out of storage and actually ride it... 😁

I think I misjudged the situation. XD
Anyway. Regarding the trip to the Golden Gate Bridge, you hit the nail on the head with your description. 🙂

Anyway, regarding the Golden Gate Bridge, your description is spot on. 🙂

😂

So, we're just wandering aimlessly?
Is there any way to go under the Bridge, hit the road leading to the embankment, and then take the path to the stairs?

I'm not quite following you there. What exactly do you mean? 🙂

Are you thinking about going under the Bridge to the subway station?
And then hauling a bike halfway up the embankment via the stairs?

To be honest, I can't quite remember how they actually handled that setup there.

What if you just climbed up the embankment and then hopped onto the bridge from there?

So, the bike2work thing is still going on, but today was actually kind of a big deal because I finally managed to hit my max speed on flat ground, topping out at over 37 miles/h—specifically 39 miles/h. I mean, obviously I was tucked right behind a semi-truck, but hey, on a flat stretch, 🙂

Here’s my daily grind:
CLICK

Takes about 40-45 minutes, riding my mountain bike through trails and dodging a million traffic lights...

My daily routine;

clicky

Takes about 30 minutes—though since I head into work at 2 AM, the streets are pretty much deserted anyway.

Here’s my route,
just under 12 miles.

http://www.bikemap.net/route/1534517...ype=ts_terrain

Did it twice. Once yesterday heading home, then again this morning on the way to work. About an hour, give or take a few minutes depending on how many red lights I hit...

analogrider3: glad I'm not the only one heading toward Old Town... 🙂

Bike2Work is still going... I've ridden 1243 miles just for work in the last 2.5 months alone.

You're certainly quick. 😁

I managed to finish 4.4 miles in 38 minutes today. That is all I need from life. 😁

Still doing the bike-to-work thing... clocked 1243 miles just for my commute over the last couple months.

But hey, you've got a pretty solid route too—wish I had a few more miles left in me... as long as the wheels are turning, I guess...😁
