rustystag46 said:Hey there. I’m trying to figure out what this rig is worth in today's market. I'm debating whether I should try to sell it before picking up something new, or if I should just pass it down to a family member. 🙂

Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 CPU
ASUS P5K motherboard
4 GB DDR2 RAM
AMD Radeon HD 3870 GPU
700 GB Seagate SATA HDD
IDE optical drive
Fortron 400PNF PSU
Generic Gigabyte case with one fan

Maybe $150 at most. Honestly, that's about as much as I'd personally pay for it.

And I was thinking if it turns out to be like that—I’ll just give it away to someone. Honestly, selling it for that kind of change isn't even worth the hassle...

Some of the components are actually pretty banged up, so I’m torn between trying to sell the whole thing or just stripping it for parts; I could really use some advice there. Anyway, here’s what I’m currently running:...

Sell off whatever still works piece by piece, and honestly? Just toss the junk in the trash.

Can I get an estimate on what each part is worth? I just need to sell this off—even if it’s for pennies $167—just so I can scrape together enough for a Noctua NH-D14
.
COMPONENTS
CPU: AMD Athlon XP, 2000 MHz (15 x 133) 2400+
MOTHERBOARD: Soltek SL-75FRN2 / NV400-64 / NV400-L64
RAM: 1535 MB
HDD: 160GB Hitachi (PATA)
GPU: ATI Radeon 9600XT
PSU: Codegen 300W

CPU - $30
Motherboard - $70
RAM - maybe $150
Drive and GPU - roughly $60-$70 each
PSU + case - probably $100, assuming you can actually find someone willing to touch that junk

Look, just try to put the thing together and get it running—throw Windows XP on there—and then maybe you can sell the whole lot for $133, though honestly, it might not even be worth that much. You’re never going to move these parts individually unless you're lucky enough to find a buyer for the drive or the RAM.

The rig is fully assembled and functional—used occasionally, at best. It's running Windows XP...

What kind of price could I realistically expect for an i5 running at 2.66 GHz, paired with 4GB of RAM, a 1TB hard drive, and an AMD Radeon HD 5570?

I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what this bucket of bolts might be worth:

AMD Sempron 3000+
2x512MB DDR2
GeForce 8400 GS
250GB HDD
Generic 420W power supply
AM2 motherboard with 4 DDR2 slots (2 are currently occupied)
CD/DVD burner

Generic 420W PSU

CD/DVD drive works fine

Honestly, I'd probably offer $133.

Could you give us a few more details? What kind of hard drive are we talking about? Also—is that an Intel Core i5-750? I'm pretty sure it is, since I actually have one myself.

It’s just a standard SATA3 hard drive. To be honest, I have no idea which brand it is, though I suspect it's a Seagate.
The CPU is an Intel Core i5-750 running at 2.66 GHz.

For the processor, I’d probably offer somewhere around $600-$$233—maybe a bit more depending on how things look. I could also go up to $50 for the RAM, $50 for the graphics card, and then whatever you want for the hard drive, assuming it's actually in good shape and doesn't have any bad sectors $100.

Could I get an estimate?

CPU - AMD Athlon 6000 + 2 x3.0
GPU -
PowerColor HD Radeon 4870 512MB
ATI Radeon 2600 XT
RAM - 2 GB (not exactly sure on the specs)
HDD - 300 GB
PSU - Chiftec 550W
Motherboard - some AsRock board

I typed this out pretty quickly, so if you need the exact models for the motherboard, RAM, or hard drive, I can dig those up later.

Any idea what a ballpark price would be, both with and without the monitor (a 19" BenQ)?http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...984opKo1J8TEDw

An AMD Athlon 6000 + 2 x3 setup paired with a $83 monitor. So—what kind of dual GPU setup are we actually looking at here?

Look, this 2600XT is pretty old and isn't actually in use right now, but it still runs perfectly fine without any issues at all.

We’re looking at roughly $2,000 for the tower plus another $800 for the peripherals—so, a grand total of about $2,800. If this rig is actually as old as you say it is, though, you really need to double-check if there's any valid warranty left on those components. Make sure you ask him that, seriously.

Man, my own PC? I picked that up from a guy on a street corner before we ever hit up Target, and of course, I misplaced the receipt somewhere at home... though I know it's gotta be in there somewhere.
(Main thing is, I've got a receipt from Home Depot from all the way back in 2005 for two tubes of silicone and a 6.5mm Makita drill bit sitting right here.🙂)

So yeah, I'm just trying to figure out the price because people keep hitting me up on Craigslist... honestly, looking at what everyone else is offering, I don't even know where to start.

Just throw three salmon in there—unless you want those guys peddling cheap beer, old potatoes, and worn-out tires to mess with you. 😁
