Hey everyone. I’d appreciate some thoughts on this. I think I set a pretty fair price... maybe? It’s got 8GB of RAM...

Hey guys, what do you think? I feel like I set a pretty fair price... the rig has 8.1GB of RAM...

No offense, but that price is insane. You could practically walk into Best Buy and pick up a brand new machine for that kind of money. On top of that, the build is pretty unbalanced, so for $1167 you’d definitely get more bang for your buck with a new setup. You've got a 550W power supply but almost no power draw; you could have swapped that out for a basic entry-level unit from Hex and used that extra cash to upgrade to a 260X instead of the 250X, or even grabbed a better motherboard. So yeah, not really—I think you overshot the asking price by a mile, unfortunately.

For $1167, you'd definitely get more bang for your buck with a newer setup. You’ve got a 550W power supply but nothing drawing much juice; you probably should have grabbed an entry-level unit from someone like Hex and upgraded that 250X to a 260X, or maybe just picked up a better motherboard. So, yeah, I think you might have overshot the mark on the asking price, unfortunately.

How much do you think I could actually pull? That current price doesn't leave much room for negotiation... and in my experience trying to move parts... when I list something for what it's actually worth $67... people will haggle for three days straight even if I already dropped the price by $67 $10... 🙂
The PC ran fine while I had it. It handles the new FIFA, the new NBA, Alien Isolation—all the recent stuff runs smooth and the graphics aren't stuck on low settings. All the components are basically "new" and still under warranty too... so, what do you think is the absolute floor for a price if I want to negotiate? How low would you go to grab it?
I honestly think it's good enough to at least cover the cost of a PlayStation 4, which is what I'm looking to trade for, especially since a computer does way more than just act as a gaming console, right?

At the very least, you should knock 20% off whatever price you originally paid

That would be $1000...that's roughly what I was thinking it might be...

Nowadays, it’s pretty tough to move a whole PC build on Craigslist—most people are just hunting for one specific part anyway—but either way, I’m rooting for you! 😁

I listed it for $3,100. We'll see how it goes. If it moves, great. If not, I suppose I'll have to grit my teeth, tear the whole thing down, and sell it off piece by piece. It took me about 😁 to sell my last build component by component, and I was practically giving everything away just so nobody would think I was some greedy jerk trying to gouge them. haha.👍

Anyone looking to offload a hard drive that's still under warranty? Shoot me a DM with your offers. I'm located in Washington, D.C.

ASRock 970 Pro3 R2

The AMD FX-8350 is a powerhouse, plain and simple. If you're looking to push your rig to the limit, this chip delivers exactly what you need. It’s built for heavy lifting and serious multitasking.

8GB of RAM at 1600MHz? Seriously? In this day and age? That’s barely enough to keep a modern browser from choking, let alone actually getting anything done. We're talking about a total snail of a setup. Honestly, if you aren't looking to bump that up, you're just asking for a headache.

The CoolerMaster 103 CPU cooler? Honestly, I've seen better, and I've certainly seen worse. It’s one of those middle-of-the-road options that doesn't really make a statement either way. If you're just looking to keep things from melting during basic tasks, it gets the job done, but don't expect it to perform miracles if you're pushing your system hard. It's fine, but it isn't exactly cutting-edge tech.

MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB (GPU)

WD Blue 500GB HDD

A 650W power supply? Seriously? That's all you're looking at?

Two 80mm fans.

Looking for the most basic black case out there.

Well, $833 it really comes down to whether the parts are still under warranty and what kind of power supply you're working with.

If it were $833 up for grabs, I’d snap it up in a heartbeat without a second thought. 😁

I actually checked the value on $1000 earlier...

I would have checked the price on $1000 first...

Plus, you'll need to pick up a new AM3+ motherboard, since this one only has a 4+1 phase design and isn't really built to handle that CPU.

Look, I get it. That motherboard is absolute garbage when you try to throw a 95W processor in there. But does that really mean it isn't worth $250-$100 😉
?

You're being way too generous with used trash

Look, if even the cheapest new model costs $187 (sometimes even exceeding $200), then calling $250-$$100 too generous just doesn't make sense 🤷
Sure, paying retail for this board is a joke since there are much better options out there for around $60, but people who don't know any better seem to get hung up on that "pro" label in the name. It's the exact same story with the AMD FX-8350; if he had just grabbed the 8320 instead, he could have dumped that extra cash into a better motherboard or a beefier cooler, and the whole PC would have been a much more balanced build

Alright, so I'm looking at about $2,500$1000, but what kind of motherboard are you guys actually recommending?

Wait, hold on—are you looking to buy this or sell it? And which specific power supply are we talking about here?
The motherboard is, say, a Gigabyte 970A-DS3P or an MSI B450 Tomahawk (not the LE version)
