Don't wash your hair during your period?!? WTF

My mom used to tell me the same thing about washing my hair, but whenever I asked her why, she’d just shrug and say, "Because that's how my mom told me!" 🤷

As for dyeing hair, I gotta say, the only two times in my life where the color looked totally wrong was when I went to the salon on the first or second day after coloring. My stylist—who’s been doing this for 25 years—says there's definitely a connection there!

I experienced this exact thing once. For years now, I’ve been dyeing my hair jet black. But back then, I had just bleached it (I can't even remember which specific day it was), and the color simply wouldn't take. At all. There wasn't even a hint that I had applied black dye. Ever since that disaster, I refuse to color my hair during my cycle.
But I shower and wash my hair just like anyone else. 🙄

This falls right into that category of old wives' tales, like telling little boys they’ll dry out their hands if they masturbate too much...🤣 Honestly, what won't people believe? I suppose anything goes when you're talking nonsense, right?🙂

P.S. The only thing actually worth mentioning is this hair dye thing. For some reason, my hair just won't take the color during my period like it does on "normal" days...

I'm inclined to agree. It’s probably exactly why. Maybe the body just goes into overdrive trying to fight off external stressors during that time of the month? Is that even how it works? It feels like the immune system just hits a different gear.

For me, it feels like my period drags on for seven days straight..
..not to mention I’m hitting the local pub every single night and my hair reaches halfway down my back..

I honestly think most of those old wives' tales are just myths (though my mom and I once heard some pretty grim stories about women actually dying from following them 🤷). Sure, maybe dealing with heavy bleeding on the first day isn't ideal, but by the second? Come on. For me, my cycle is always predictable within a day or two, so I always know exactly when it’s hitting. I usually make sure to wash my hair the day before just to stay ahead of it 😁. And as for the idea of skipping showers during those days—no comment. I seriously couldn't even imagine doing that.

Alright, I’m still stuck on how hair is supposed to have anything to do with uterine prolapse. 🤷
It honestly makes more sense to say you shouldn't soak in a tub—you know, because those harsh chemicals in shampoo could irritate your mucous membranes—but hair? 🤷 🤷
