...I am genuinely curious about why women used to think they weren't allowed to wash their hair?..How did they even justify that logic to themselves?🤷
..The only thing I ever heard was my grandmother claiming it wasn't a good idea to bathe while on your period because you'd end up with joint inflammation..but hey, grandmas will be grandmas, I guess.
..And now I'm supposed to believe this theory about hair dye too..hmm...no way, I just don't see how that would have anything to do with how the color takes...sure, hormones exist, but still, I'm not buying it.

I used to think you could catch AIDS just from masturbating. I was about eight years old, way too early, when I first started. 😬 But even with that fear of the AIDS Foundation hanging over me, I kept going. I took the risk. 🤷

Honestly, I usually just dye my hair while I'm on my period, and it works perfectly fine—just like any other time. I don't buy into that nonsense at all.☕

My mom used to feed me all kinds of nonsense when I was just a little kid—I totally swallowed it back then😂
It’s impossible to track how things change... honestly, it's a disaster. Just thinking about what kind of hellish stench that would be makes me want to gag!

Look, I'm just being honest here.....

🤣

My old lady tells me I shouldn't soak in hot water—but frankly, who cares? At least nothing leaks when you're submerged.😁

My mom keeps lecturing me about not taking hot baths, but honestly? Who cares. At least nothing leaks when you're actually in the water.😁

I’ve definitely noticed that phenomenon too.😁

So true... 😁
I mean, what kind of nonsense is that?
Don't wash your hair while you're dealing with stuff? Seriously, what would that even look like? 😲
And skip showering altogether??? Good grief... I'd practically crawl out of my own skin. 😲

My mom used to tell me that back in the day, people thought you shouldn't wash your hair while on your period, but honestly, none of us ever took that seriously! I actually just started mine today and went straight to the salon for a wash 😁 and I’m totally fine so far 😛

I have no clue why that was even a thing... maybe because they didn't have easy access to hot water and stuff back then, so maybe the cold water had something to do with it? 🤷🤷

There’s clearly no intelligent way to explain this nonsense—someone was drumming this up over many years ago (which just makes it even more ridiculous) and now people actually buy into it...
I mean...🙄...it’s pathetic...

Honestly, I’m sitting here rethinking everything my mom used to tell me... She genuinely insisted there are women out there who claim you shouldn't even wash yourself while you're on your period. I honestly thought she was just talking nonsense back then—total superstition, right? Well, turns out I might have been wrong. I feel like such an idiot; I'll definitely have to go apologize to her tomorrow.

Amanda Alvarez35 said:I had the exact same experience today. I was actually at the salon getting my hair done, and even after a standard shampoo, it still showed up. 😁 And I am still breathing. 😛

It won't be much longer now; we are nearing the end. I shall be watching closely to see if you actually bother to show up on the forum tomorrow, though frankly, I highly doubt it. 😂

Ugh, well then I guess there's no point even getting ready to go out! 🤣
Seriously though, I'm heading straight to the shower now, totally defeated 😁

Regarding all those old wives' tales, I swear by just one—don't walk barefoot during your period (well, no slippers). My mom always told me that if I do, I end up with these crazy cramps

Betty Gomez10 said:So, I was chatting with a friend this morning about our plans for tonight. She’s on her period. In the middle of our conversation, she starts fussing over her hair, complaining about how greasy and lifeless it feels, but insists she can't wash it. 😲 I was completely baffled. I asked her, "Why not?" And she tells me you aren't supposed to wash your hair—let alone take a full shower—while you're menstruating. Apparently, her grandmother told her that and strictly forbade her from doing any of that during those days. 😕
Now, look, I've been dealing with my period for eight years now, and I am reasonably certain these are just old wives' tales. I shower regularly and wash my hair without fail during my cycle... and I've never faced any consequences (not that I even know what they would be; logically, it seems to be a matter of basic hygiene 🤷). What do you all think? Did your grandmothers ever nag you with this kind of nonsense?

My mom told me the exact same thing, even though I still shower. Honestly, I try my best to avoid it for the first two days, then I'll shower and wash my hair on the third day and I feel fine. But then again, I have a friend who actually ended up in the hospital because she had a hemorrhage after ignoring that advice...🤷

Is this kid just making up excuses because she's too lazy to get clean???🤣🤣🤣🤣

Alex Ruiz7 said:My mother gave me the exact same advice, even when I’m in the middle of showering. Honestly, I make a concerted effort to avoid doing it for the first two days, but by day three, I’m back to my regular routine—showering and washing my hair without any issues whatsoever. It’s all fine on my end. However, I do have a friend who actually ended up in the hospital because of this exact situation; she suffered a stroke.🤷

Are you seriously attempting to dodge the shower for the first forty-eight hours?😲😲Absolutely revolting.
Honestly, I go through my entire routine—showering, washing my hair, even dyeing it—and frankly, none of it bothers me one bit. It’s all just part of the process.

I went asking my grandmother about this, and she corrected me immediately. According to her, the old-school rule isn't actually that you shouldn't wash at all; it’s just that you shouldn't take a full bath. Apparently, taking a quick shower is perfectly fine. It’s one of those old folk traditions, I suppose. ☕

So I was just chatting with my mom and asked her if she actually remembers why people used to say you shouldn't wash your hair during your period. She was like, "Honestly, I'm not sure," then there was this loooong silence, and then she got all worried like, "Wait, why are you even asking me that?" 🤣 🤣
