I seriously can't believe someone actually sat there and presented this like it was some groundbreaking fact. 🙏

I figured I’d jump in here too..

I remember back when we were just kids—maybe sixth grade—and we had one of those routine checkups at the pediatrician. Someone actually asked the doctor if you were allowed to shower while on your period. She told us (it feels like yesterday 😛) that of course you can, she just didn't recommend taking long baths... you know, soaking in a tub for hours at a time..

My mom used to feed me those same old myths, though hers were more about hair than showering.. give me a break. As if I wouldn't be showering for an entire week because of some superstition.. 😲😲

Well, I guess it's because some idiots (I don't know what else to call them) show up in these threads believing they can actually bleed out during a period. How else am I supposed to explain it so even the sheep get it?

I remember being just a kid—sixth grade, I think—and we had those routine physicals at school. Someone actually asked the doctor if it was okay to shower while on their period. She told us (it feels like yesterday 😛) that of course you can shower, she just didn't recommend taking a bath—you know, filling up a tub and soaking for hours..

My mom used to peddle those same myths to me, though more about hair than showering.. Give me a break. As if I wouldn't shower for an entire week. Absolutely not.. 😲😲

I’ve heard the same thing about avoiding baths, but that a regular shower is perfectly fine.
I don't bother washing my hair on day one, regardless of how many times I end up needing to right after I wash it.. Personally, I think these are just old wives' tales and nonsense. There is no reason for me to skip a shower, and I certainly wouldn't sit in a bathtub for ages because of some outdated superstition.
The only thing I can say for certain is that during the first two or three days of my cycle, my hair dye doesn't take well, nor does it blow dry smoothly. That much is a proven fact.

Honey, use your brain for a second. Is everything that comes out of you during your period just blood? No? Then I guess we should all be running to the clinic to replenish the blood we lose every single month, right?

I don't bother washing my hair on day one, regardless of how many times I end up dealing with... well, let's just say things. Personally, I find these superstitions to be absolute nonsense—just outdated myths. There is zero logical reason why I shouldn't take a shower, and frankly, I'm going to fill my bathtub the moment I feel like it, regardless of what any "old timer" might suggest.
The only empirical fact I can assert is that during the first two or three days of my cycle, hair dye simply refuses to take, and my blowout looks absolutely subpar. That part is verified.

I suppose it varies from person to person. For me, my hair behaves exactly as usual and the dye takes just fine. In fact, a friend of mine went to a mini-vacation right in the middle of hers, and she had no issues with her hair at all.🤷

Don't you dare present this. 😁 Look, if it’s true that a woman only loses a teaspoon of blood in a week, how the hell does someone end up with a massive stain on their sheets overnight? Make it make sense.

So, everything that comes out during a period is just blood? Really? Then we should all be heading to the ER for a transfusion every single month after all that lost blood. Give me a break.

Are you kidding me? That isn't even blood from the bloodstream, for Christ's sake! 😁 It’s not like you have internal bleeding that just spills out on its own. 😁

What did you even just say? A teaspoon of blood, and only a third was left? Seriously?

It stays open because these ridiculous stories are actually pretty entertaining. 👋 🎉

Kimberly Davis52 said:Wait, what did you actually say? A teaspoon of blood, and then one third of it was left over?

"What exactly is menstruation? Menstrual flow is mostly made up of blood. About one third consists of mucus, fragments of the uterine lining, and vaginal cells. This menstrual blood is different from the blood circulating in a woman's veins because it contains more calcium and doesn't clot, since it needs to exit the body without forming lumps. It can also contain microorganisms. It's important to remember that before leaving the body, this material was intended to serve as nourishment and protection for a fetus—in that sense, it represents life itself. Menstruation is a positive symbol of a woman's ability to bring new life into the world."
...WebMD... yikes.🙂🤣

So, we’re actually reaching the point where a woman ends up losing about 1.33 teaspoons of volume total. In a single week.

Oh, well, isn't that just wonderful. I guess I must have several uteri then. 🙂

Kimberly Davis52 said:Well, that sounds pretty lovely. If that’s the case, I guess I probably have a few issues on my hands then. 🙂

...and I've got some sort of half-baked version...honestly, all these stories you guys are telling me feel more like tall tales than the actual truth.😛😉

Oh, please... what a load of nonsense. People claim you shouldn't dye your hair during your period because the color won't take as well. Honestly? Total superstition. 🙏🙏

The only thing I can say for sure is that for the first two or three days of my cycle, my hair dye won't take properly, and it never seems to blow-dry quite right. That part is proven fact.

I've never really paid attention to it, and I doubt I ever will... I just wash my hair when it needs it, not based on what day of the month it is... 🤷

Kimberly Davis52 said:Don't present it like that. 😁 I mean, if it's true that a woman loses a teaspoon (!!!) of blood in a week, how does a stain even show up on a bedsheet overnight?

But that isn't blood from the bloodstream, for crying out loud. 😁 It’s not like you have some internal bleeding just pouring out. 😁

What did you actually say? A teaspoon of blood, and then a third of it remained?

Look, honey, when you quote someone, just mention who you're quoting, because this other part isn't mine.😁

Honestly, I’m not even sure if I should risk replying to this at all? It’s just like that one lady I met who insisted you shouldn't shower every single day because apparently your skin will turn translucent—and don't even get me started on her theory about catching a cold from it too!

ruggedcobra15 said:Mine usually lasts about five or six days, and I have actually washed my hair once or twice during that time before.
and I don't plan on doing it again until my period ends. I noticed that my period stops if I wash my hair while I'm still bleeding; it just seemingly cuts off right then. If I wash it on the second or third day, it feels like there's nothing left for the rest of the month. So, I guess those old wives' tales aren't just myths; there might actually be some connection there, otherwise, people probably wouldn't talk about it so much. Of course, I suppose it really depends on how everyone's body reacts individually... I still shower every single day during my cycle, but I just avoid washing my hair.

🤣😂😂🤣🤣🤣

Back in the day, whenever you were on your period, you basically had to set up camp in a tent and sit around on a giant pile of moss with all the other old ladies in town. And get this—the heavier the flow, the bigger the damn moss pile! 😂
That’s just how we did things back then! And once you’ve dealt with all that, whatever you do, don't even think about washing your hair. If you do, it’ll probably just fall right out, and let me tell you, there will be no end to the bleeding! 🤣
