Honestly, I’d much rather deal with being a little messy or having oily, unwashed hair than deal with that kind of attitude, LOL. I have never heard anyone speak like that in my entire life—not even from my grandmother! There is a massive difference between old-fashioned wisdom passed down through generations and just being plain rude. Getting older doesn't automatically mean someone is dim-witted or stuck in their ways, you know? No offense intended, of course.

I noticed this too. 🤣
Like, hey Jessica Cox89, just put a tampon in before you shower.

What kind of issues are we even talking about? I don't buy it...
Never stopped me from showering, washing my hair, nothing.
My mom never fed me any of that nonsense either.
🤷

I honestly had no idea coral bracelets were supposed to protect against the evil eye 🤔 I actually have a little one myself—it was a gift from my grandma 😁 though I always assumed it was just some kind of family heirloom since my parents used to work in the jewelry business, not because it was meant to be some kind of spiritual protection 🤣🤣🤣🤣

😂 😂 😂 🙏 🙏

They’re even more progressive than that—people who don't care about money at all, just tying a little red string around their baby's wrist... 😂

So just wring it out, what's the big deal? It's not like you can't wash it. God forbid you actually save a few towels, right? 🙄

I mean, it’s not like you're bleeding non-stop without any breaks where you can't even clean up without totally trashed a towel.
Are you seriously waiting two whole days to shower? 😕 A quick rinse isn't gonna hurt anything. It doesn't have to be some massive soak in the tub.

Ugh, my flow is super heavy though, there's no way I'm not making a mess of my towel... I just mess it up, toss it in the laundry, and call it a day....

A bit random, but...

A neighbor was telling me this story from about two years ago, totally shocked by the whole thing. She was visiting a cousin, and when she went to take a shower, her cousin actually asked her why she was even washing herself if there wasn't a man around...😲

My neighbor was telling me this story from about two years ago—she was totally stunned—about visiting her cousin. Apparently, when she went to jump in the shower, the cousin actually asked her why she even bothered washing down there if she hadn't been with a guy lately😲

Hang tight, Polly will be here soon to break down that whole thing about women and showering, then it’ll all make sense to you🤣 🤣 🤣

(Yeah, I know, I'm totally going off-topic😢 whatever😢 )

Well, at least I'm with you on this... honestly, the main reason I don't even bother showering on day one is because everything down there hurts so much. It gets all sensitive and swollen, so I basically just wipe myself down with baby wipes and crawl back into bed. By day two? Yeah, I'm good to go—I could probably go for a hike if I had to.

Here’s what really trips me up, though... I mean, does anyone else feel like when you actually get your period, you just want to collapse into bed for the first two or three days because the cramps are absolutely brutal? Do you all somehow manage to schedule this "monthly visitor" for the weekend, or what? I’m out here juggling a job, being a mom, handling everything for my husband—it's a hundred different things at once—so I honestly don't know how you people find the time to indulge in self-care. When mine were hitting me hard, I’d just pop one or two Advil and try to push through the pain

And then there’s the first few days where I feel like I'm stuck on permanent laundry duty because, well, things are leaking constantly. On top of that, I just feel so gross and run-down that I end up obsessively fixing my hair or makeup just to feel human again... I even managed to wash my hair today, and hey, I'm actually breathing

I always end up making a mess with my towel... it’s pretty much inevitable at this point.
..but honestly, that idea about using a tampon is actually pretty smart. I don't usually go that route, but it definitely sounds worth a shot.

Whenever my period hits, I’m usually out of commission by day two—either the bleeding is totally insane or my whole body just aches... honestly, the worst part is worrying about how I'll manage once I start working... since I'm just a college student right now, I can actually afford to just stay in bed most days...

It’s either this abnormal bleeding or just general, widespread pain... I suppose my biggest worry is how I'll manage once I actually start working, since right now, being a college student allows me the luxury of just staying in bed most of the time.

Well, once you enter the workforce, lying in bed won't really be an option anymore. I imagine you'll just have to pop two Advil on an empty stomach and push through your daily tasks, especially since you can't exactly expect a manager to ask, "Hey, are you having cramps? Why didn't you just stay home today?"🤣🤣

So I just sort of wipe myself down with wet wipes and crash in bed, and then by the second day, I'm totally fine and ready to go hiking if I have to.

Oh, come on, stop making excuses... it's not like you're scrubbing yourself with a wire brush or anything... just use lukewarm water and some gentle cleanser... heck, you could even skip the soap, just please, for the love of God, get clean!

Besides, let's be real, which one of us actually does anything productive anyway? Like, we can all pretty much afford to just lay around all day, right? 🙄

Jessica Cox89 said:If there's really that much of it, I mean, there's no way I'm spending hours soaking around in bright red water—mostly because I have no clue how I'd even manage to dry off afterward...

😕 😕 🤔
Maybe you could just try running the water in the tub first—you know, to flush it all out—and then use the showerhead to wash that "red water" right off yourself... 🤷

brisknomad6 said:Oh, come on now—don't go making things up... I mean, nobody is out here scrubbing themselves with a wire brush or anything crazy like that... It’s just lukewarm water and maybe a little bit of mild cleanser... Honestly, you don't even need soap to get the job done, just wash yourself, for goodness sake!

I mean, seriously—which one of these people actually has a job? It feels like none of them do anything productive all day, which I guess means they can just afford to lie around on the couch from sunrise to sunset... 🙄

Building on what was said earlier—and honestly, I found myself wondering the exact same thing while reading through this thread, especially after seeing Kimberly Nguyen's take...

Ugh, seriously...😲....I actually can't believe what I'm reading here!
When I'm on my period, I shower just like normal—honestly, probably more than usual, and I don't care if I go through a dozen towels in the process. I wash my hair, brush my teeth, scrub my hands, do everything. I still hit the beach, swim, tan... I mean, I act like it's any other day of the month! If I'm hurting, I just pop some Advil or Aleve, if I really need to... and that's it. I don't know about you people who just stay stuck in bed for days, but back in high school or college, I definitely couldn't afford to miss three days every single month, especially once I started working!😕 Must be nice!

And regarding all these stupid old wives' tales... I recently had a baby, and for 40 freaking days, she didn't wash her hair, didn't leave the house (obviously, I wouldn't either with hair looking like 🙄), and nobody was allowed to see the baby! I have to ask, why specifically 40 days?!🤷 On the 41st day, she finally washed her hair, and then we could actually come visit!

It's honestly wild how many girls blindly believe this nonsense without ever asking WHY. Like, what does washing your hair even have to do with your period?!🙄

Michael Gomez7 said:My period usually lasts about 5 to 7 days. I try to skip washing my hair on the first or second day because the cramps and heavy bleeding are usually too much to handle, but I'll wash it by day three or four. Funny enough, once I wash my hair during that window, the bleeding seems to just stop. Usually, I’m done with my period just one day after washing my hair.

Mine typically runs about 5 or 6 days. A few times now, I've washed my hair around day two or three,
and I'm not planning on doing it again until my cycle is completely finished. I've noticed that my flow stops right after I wash it mid-cycle. It just cuts off—if I wash it on day two or three, that's it, I'm done until next month. It’s not just some old wives' tale; there’s definitely something to it. There has to be a connection, otherwise, people wouldn't keep talking about it. Of course, everyone's body reacts differently... personally, I still shower every single day during my period, I just don't touch my hair.
