So, this Friday, October 5th, at 9:50 PM on ABC, there's an American version of that Japanese film, The Grudge.

It’s a decent movie, maybe even a bit better than average at times. I guess there are a few pretty effective jump scares.
It might be worth a watch. 👍

If you’re planning on watching The Grudge, my advice is to stick to the Japanese originals. Just be careful about which specific version you pick up, because there are actually four distinct Japanese films to navigate through:

The Grudge 1 and 2 (originally produced for television)
The Grudge (the theatrical remakes of those first two films, which you can find at most local video rental spots)
The Grudge 2 — the sequel to the remake, which is easily the best entry in the series. It's a must-watch.

...I saw this in theaters last year and found it quite scary—not overwhelming, but given what you typically expect from a Hollywood remake, it was more than sufficient...👍 ...plus, it's certainly worth the watch just for Sarah Michelle Gellar...😍 ...it was a massive hit here in the States... I honestly didn't expect it to be picked up for broadcast this quickly...😕 ...

Last summer, I watched a Japanese version of The Grudge... though I'm not entirely sure which one it was. To be honest, it didn't really leave an impression on me; I think I might have even fallen asleep halfway through. It was getting quite late, so I probably didn't follow the plot perfectly either. They aired it again this past Saturday, but unfortunately, I wasn't able to catch it.
I find the American version to be quite solid, and since Sarah is such a fantastic actress, I think 👍

That’s honestly the one horror movie I watched once and decided never to touch again.
I didn't get any decent sleep for about six months straight after that. Just completely spooked.
Usually, I'm pretty unfazed by horror movies, though. It was just this one.

By the way, have you guys heard if they're filming The Grudge 3? 🙄

The Grudge is actually pretty solid. Honestly, you really need to watch it on a big screen with a full surround sound setup to get the full effect. 😬 Anyway... just crank up the volume on that TV

The American version is watered down and boring, obviously. The Japanese one is better.

So, this movie features the legendary Buffy (you know, the vampire slayer!) and Max from Roswell—honestly, if you’re a teenager or just feeling somewhere near 😁, that alone makes it worth the watch! I caught it in theaters, and while it wasn't exactly my cup of tea, then again, I've never really been a horror fan anyway...

Not sure which Japanese version you're talking about, but the one I watched was better than the American remake. I actually turned the American one off halfway through just out of pure boredom. 😁

honestly, I thought the Japanese version was better, even though I only caught part of it—just when it popped up on TV 😢

That was just the American producers tinkering with the plot to set up a sequel. If you watch the original Japanese version, the ending is actually much more definitive.

I watched it recently—well, just the first few minutes, really—and now I’m pretty sure I’m legally forbidden from turning off the TV once the lights go out. 🙈 Everyone keeps trying to convince me that I should just power through and watch it until the end—arguing that the whole thing is basically pointless—but honestly? I’m just straight-up terrified. 🙂

Look, the ending is pretty meh, but the movie itself was actually decent. It's been a minute since I've seen a horror flick that actually got under my skin like that...
