I have it, though without those heavy hitters—I'll send over tonight's list to whoever wants it.

Perfect 😘--
just the way I like it.
🙂Thanks, really.
Now if I could just track down those damn bells...

I have to say, gentlepuma20 is quite the devout Muslim woman.🙂

vividcanyon2 said:I decided to dive back into some reading—specifically catching up on the other sports sections, like the track and field coverage. Honestly? Absolute gold.
What was I saying? Or rather, what was I even trying to get across? Honestly, I feel like I’m just talking to a brick wall at this point—it’s like I'm shouting into the void of a crowded Chicago subway station and nobody even bothers to look up from their phones. What did I say? I can't even remember my own point anymore given how much nonsense I have to wade through daily. 😉

Wait, didn't you mention the sports subforum? 🤔
I went over to read those sports poems by the poet stormyviper11 🤣 🙏

I actually went looking for those sports poems written by that poet, stormyviper11.🤣 🙏
Ah, yes, I did. And seeing that, I realized you actually followed through—damn. 😬
Those sports poems by stormyviper11 really need to be published. At least in The Messenger.🤣

I did some selective reading—hit the sports section first, then moved on to everything else. Gotta get the work done, right? ☕

Forgive me, truly, but please—stop trying to read between the lines here. I might as well just publish this in a letter to Buddy 😬 😂

As someone who’s spent way too much time following the ski jumping circuit—and believe me, I have my fair share of deep dives into these athletes' lives—I have to ask: do you actually know which one of these two former jumpers is currently working as a male stripper?
Matti Nykänen
Nieminen
I know for a fact it’s one of those two—honestly, I'm just not entirely sure which one yet.
I’m not exactly the type to play devil's advocate—believe me, I don't have the patience for it—but frankly, I can't stand any of them.
Nykänen used to be in the game. Once upon a time.
Yaraan said:For heaven's sake—is Nykänen really not behind bars yet? Seriously, I am losing my mind here.
Poor Raymond Barrett12—it sounds like his mother is MIA again. Just my luck, right? It seems like she’s constantly off the grid lately. 😁
dmj Raymond Barrett12 said:As far as I know, he’s currently serving time behind bars—though back in the day, he actually made a living as a stripper. As for Nieminen, I haven't a clue what his current gig is, though I do remember him trying his hand at professional diving a few years back.
Word on the street is that Nieminen is supposedly back in training mode. 🤔 Different, to be honest.
dmj said:I’ve been scouring the threads looking for that specific link—I can't seem to track it down anywhere—but someone recently posted a news update (maybe Raymond Barrett12?) about how Nykaenen completely lost his cool. Apparently, he ended up exactly where Yaraan suggested he would: he walked straight into the first dive bar he found, stayed there for an hour and a half, stirred up some absolute chaos, and was promptly shut down by the authorities before he could even finish his drink. It was a total meltdown. And just to be clear, lest there be any confusion here—yes, Nykaenen is indeed the same guy who worked as a male stripper a few years back—though, honestly, looking at him now, I highly doubt he’d have the stamina for such a demanding gig today.
Honestly, if you ask me—and I’ve seen enough to have an opinion—both of them had already completely burned out long before they even thought about hanging it up. It wasn't some sudden decline after they retired; they were already running on fumes while they were still in the thick of it.
That’s exactly right.
bad seed said:"A sporting life," you say... That’s a laugh. Honestly, people throw that phrase around like it’s some kind of idyllic, wholesome pursuit—as if it’s all sunshine, rainbows, and fair play. They have no idea what they're talking about. It isn't just about hitting a ball or running a mile; it’s an obsession that consumes everything in its path. I remember back when I was trying to make a name for myself in my local amateur leagues—just a kid with too much energy and not enough sense—and I realized very quickly that "sporting life" is just code for a relentless, grinding cycle of physical toll and mental exhaustion. You pour your soul into it, you sacrifice your weekends, your social life, and your joints, and for what? A trophy that gathers dust on a shelf while your knees scream at you every time you try to walk up a flight of stairs. It’s a grind, plain and simple. Don't lecture me on the "glory" of it unless you've actually lived through the grit.
Does anyone actually have a reliable way to download music around here? I’m looking for some tracks, but honestly, finding a decent source that isn't crawling with malware or broken links is becoming a massive headache. Anyone got any leads?
When exactly is that movie hitting the rental shelves? I absolutely have to catch this one! 😁
I’ve already put my local contact in the digital underground to work on sourcing... 😁
mr. Wrong said:Good grief, it’s like nobody around here ever bothered to listen to a single word Usra or Zvalja had to say.
Ehm, just a bit of a sketchy NPC here. 🙂
dmj said:Look, we all have those moments—but nothing quite like the ones Matti sang about himself...
Ehm, maybe over at Soul Searcher? 😕
bad seed said:well, I'm interested. if you were a dad and we listened to this next year during the break at the New Year's ski jump
Gud thinking! 👍 😁

Hockey just doesn't feel right unless you're rooting for the Finns.
And then you've got the Czechs and Slovaks right behind them.
I mean, I like Canada, but I'm only pulling for them when they're playing against Russians, Americans, or Swedes.
🙂
it's practically poetry 🙏
and for heaven's sake, you bunch of leftovers—don't all you metalheads start posting at once, ugh

Top 1 missed opportunities for filming a funny home video today:
1. Theme: some pretty clumsy guy in his mid-thirties (we won't say who) attempting to make Cream of Wheat for the first time ever.
The result: surprisingly decent, totally edible...
Amount of ingredients wasted just to get half a bowl of mush: way higher than average.
Quantity and variety of tools used for cooking and serving: impressive, involving some items you definitely wouldn't call everyday kitchenware...
Kitchen cleanliness and organization: 2/10 before starting, 1/10 after finishing.
Genre summary: subtle slapstick.

Anyway, I’ve spent half my day laughing at the exact same thing—these deep, profound pearls of wisdom from Matti Nykänen, all scraped together from Wikipedia. I already posted about this in the ski jumping thread, but since most of you losers over there don't bother to engage, I figured I'd give the rest of you the pleasure of studying the life philosophy of the One and Only...
Matti Nykänen has spawned several memorable quotes, mostly due to his Language barrier, which most of the time seem to miss the point.
"Tekemätöntä ei saa tekemättömäksi"
"What is not done, cannot be undone"
"Ehkä otin, ehkä en."
"Maybe I had, maybe I didn't." (on drinking alcohol)
"Minä olen venäläinen, vaikka ei ole punaista päällä, olen kommunisti, mutta näyttelen vaan. Oikeasti olen ihminen, joka kävelee ja puhuu puhelimeen."
"I am Russian, even though I'm not wearing red, I'm a communist, but I'm just acting. In reality I'm a person Who walks and talks on The Phone"
"Aina ku mä hyppään ja pääsen siihen hyppyrin nokalle, niin mulle tulee sellanen 'bon voyage' -tunne, siis että mä oon kokenu tän joskus aikasemminkin."
"Every time I jump and get to the ledge, I get that 'bon voyage' feeling. I mean it's like I've been through this before."
"Kun sä lähdet hyppyyn, sä olet ihan yksin. Sä joudut siinä hyppyrinnokalla tekemään yksinäsi omat ratkaisut. Sä oot siellä ylhäällä ihan up yours."
"When you're going for a jump, you're all by yourself. You have to make your own decisions yourself. Up there you're completely up yours."
"Jokainen tsäänssi on mahdollisuus!"
"Every chance is an opportunity!"
"Huominen on aina tulevaisuutta."
"Tomorrow is always future."
"Elämä on laiffii."
"Living is Life."
"Se on ihan fifty-sixty miten käy."
"The odds are fifty-sixty."
"No pilluhan se on aina mielessä mutta hypätään nyt ensin!"
"Pussy is always on my mind, but let's jump first" (when a reporter asked Matti what he has in his mind)
"On kaksi osaa ihmisiä. Joku vetää huumeita, joku urheilee, joku vetää itsensä loppuun ja joku vaan nukkuu. Minä kuulun siihen porukkaan, joka nukkuu, urheilee, rakastelee ja hakkaa itseään ja voipi olla, että siinä joskus osuu toiseenkin ihmiseen."
"There are two parts of people. Some take drugs, some do sports, some rushes into burn-out and some just sleep. I'm one of those people who sleep, do sports, make love and beat themselves, and could be that sometimes one may hit someone else, too."
"Rakkaus on kuin lankakerä – se alkaa ja loppuu."
"Love is like a ball of wool – it starts and it ends."
"En suosittele Antabusta kenellekään. Sen kanssa tulee ryypätessä ihan kammottava olo."
"I don't recommend Antabus to anyone. Boozing with it makes you feel just dreadful."
"Lahti on kyllä ihan mesta paikka."
"Lahti is a great place." (Local news report)
"Elämä on ihmisen parasta aikaa."
"Living is the best time of a person."
"Mä en mene siihen lankaan että alkaisin haalimaan jotain omaisuutta."
"I will not fall for the error of starting to hoard personal property or something."
"Kysymys kuulostaa kysymykseltä."
"The question sounds like a question." (Matti's direct answer to a question during the publishing ceremony of his book.)
"On se aika epäkornia käytöstä."
"It is quite uncorny behavior." (Matti commenting the treatment he received from the American justice department during one of his spousal abuse trials.)
"Elokuva elokuvana. Elokuva kun tehdään, niin se on elokuvaa."
"A movie as a movie. When a movie is being made, it's movie." (Matti commenting the upcoming movie about him.)
"Meikäläinen on nykyään avioliittoneuvoja. Jos menee hyvin niin meikäläinen paikalle. Se on seittemän sekuntia ja kaikki on päin persettä."
"I’ve basically become a marriage counselor at this point. If things are actually going smooth, just give me a heads up... because it usually takes about seven seconds before everything goes straight to hell." (Matti, probably dissecting his own messy love life with a heavy dose of sarcasm...)

Now you’ve got me thinking about Matti Nykänen again... I can still vividly recall my top five favorite phrases from when I was learning Finnish:
1. I love you
2. I want to marry you😈
3. By the way, this is my husband, Matti
4. It's nice to meet you
5. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
