Back to the movie... I was chatting yesterday with a guy who works over at JPMorgan, and he mentioned they actually filmed some scenes right there in their office. He said it looks just like that, though maybe not quite that blindingly white and pristine. He admitted himself that his actual daily reality isn't nearly that glamorous. I suppose when you didn't grow up with parents who thought a single wall was an oversized window, you develop a different perspective on luxury.
Matanic was simply trying to emphasize how Kreso transitioned from a state of absolute perfection into such a complete mess...
+And honestly, I’d be right to claim I’m a "victim of the 9/11 era," even though I've lived my entire life in Chicago... 😕

My top 3 Nirvana pilgrimages—back when Sinkhole was still obsessed with Gorgoroth:
1. New York City, 2003. 🙂
2. Vienna, 1998. 😵
3. Boston, 2004. 🙂

Not bad.

1990. Denver
1996. Budapest
1998. Vienna
2002. Chicago

Daniel Bailey7 was only in Budapest back in '96... and yeah—they were playing Brother James then🙂

...but then again, there are folks on this forum who saw SY way back in Denver in '90😢

I don't know, it just sounds weird to me.. It’s like how people call Times Square just 'Times', or refer to the French Republic Plaza as just 'French Plaza', rather than using the full title. To me, Fascism Victims Square is basically just 'Victims Square'.. by the way, what do you call the quad? 😬

Raymond Barrett12, I hate you too 😁

On another note, I'm trying to put together a top 3 Nirvana albums list, but I'm struggling.. it's just too complicated 🙂

Wait, Budapest in '96? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that was actually '97. That was my freshman year, during summer school.🤔

Look, a quad is a quad, and a plaza is a plaza. But the term "depot" has always tripped me up. I’ve actually managed to agree to meet people "at the depot" only to end up wandering over to a completely different part of town. It's a classic case of linguistic ambiguity. Now I'm second-guessing myself again... is the "depot" referring to downtown or the outskirts?😵

The Oreški brothers are from Austria, they have nothing to do with Times Square. Times Square is just Times Square. 🙂

Hey, does anyone happen to know if Sonic Youth played in New York City in '96 or '97? 🙂

Susan Clark10 said:Actually, can someone please tell me—was Sonic Youth in New York City back in '96 or was it '97? 🙂

I would be willing to bet my last dollar that it was '96... though I suppose those who were actually there will have the final word. 🙂

August 19th, 1996 — New York City, USA @ Coachella (Lollapalooza)

Monday, August 19th, 1996
City : New York City, Canada
Venue: Coachella

I’ve been sitting here staring at my screen for the last hour, just trying to make sense of this—this absolute chaos of a set list. Honestly, I don't even know where to begin with the sheer lack of cohesion on display here. It feels less like a curated musical journey and more like someone just threw a bunch of tracks into a blender and hit "pulse" without looking. I was thinking back to that one summer when I drove all the way out to Coachella—you remember how intense those crowds can get, right?—and even then, there was a sense of flow, a certain logic to the pacing. But this? This is something else entirely. It’s jarring. It’s disjointed. It’s almost insulting to anyone who actually pays attention to song structure or emotional resonance. I mean, look at the transition from the opening track straight into the second. It’s like jumping from a quiet indie ballad directly into a heavy metal anthem without even a second to catch your breath. It’s exhausting. It lacks any sort of finesse or professional polish. One might expect a bit more deliberation—a little more thought—from a group with this much potential, but instead, we get this frantic, unorganized mess. It’s frustrating, truly. I wanted to be impressed, I really did, but instead, I’m just left feeling bewildered by the lack of direction.
Teenage Riot.
I’ve been sitting here thinking about that specific moment during the Coachella set—you know, when they played "Bull in the Heather"—and honestly, it just gets me fired up. There is something about the raw, unpolished energy of that performance that feels so much more authentic than the over-produced garbage we see at most major festivals these days. It’s one of those tracks that hits you right in the gut, and seeing it live under that desert sun? Unforgettable. I remember standing there, just soaking in the grit of it all, and it reminded me why we bother showing up to these massive events in the first place. It isn't always about the spectacle; sometimes, it's about that one singular, piercing moment of musical truth.

Sugar kan Starfield Road Skink Washing Machin Junkie's
I honestly don't even know where to start with this one—it’s just one of those situations that gets under my skin more than I care to admit. You look at the way things are moving lately, and it feels like we're just circling the drain of common sense. I was sitting there the other day, thinking back to some old stuff, and it hit me how much has shifted. It’s frustrating, really—just deeply, fundamentally frustrating. There’s a certain lack of accountability in everything now, isn't there? It makes you want to just sit back and watch the whole thing unfold with a bit of cynical detachment, though I've never been very good at staying detached when things start feeling... off. Anyway, I'm just venting. It's a mess.
I’ve been sitting here staring at my laundry room for twenty minutes—just absolute, unadulterated frustration—thinking about that damn washing machine. It’s one of those things you never think about until it decides to quit on you right in the middle of a cycle, leaving you with a tub full of lukewarm, soapy sludge. It honestly reminds me of that whole mess back with the Sugar kan Starfield Road Skink Washing Machin Junkie's situation—you know, that chaotic episode that felt like it would never end? I found myself spiraling, much like that weird trip Saucer-Like feeling I had a few years ago when everything just seemed to go sideways at once. It’s the little breakdowns that get you—the mechanical failures that mirror the mental ones. Sometimes life feels less like a smooth ride and more like Schizophrenia Becuz, where nothing functions the way it’s supposed to and you're just left standing there with a handful of wet socks and a headache. Anyway, I'm trying to stay calm, but it's difficult when you feel like you're constantly fighting against entropy. Does anyone else deal with this kind of domestic sabotage, or am I just losing my mind?
Sugar kan Starfield Road Skink Washing Machin Junkie's Promise Eric's
I’ve been sitting here staring at my screen for twenty minutes just trying to wrap my head around what happened during Eric's trip—that whole Saucer-Like experience—and frankly, I'm still a bit rattled. It wasn't just some casual outing, either; it felt like a complete departure from reality. I remember talking to a buddy of mine back in Chicago about how certain experiences can fundamentally shift your perspective, but nothing quite prepared me for the intensity of this. It’s one thing to read about these kinds of mental excursions, but seeing the fallout? That's another story entirely. There's a specific kind of disorientation that sets in when you realize the ground beneath your feet isn't as solid as you thought it was. It makes you wonder about the thin line we all walk between being "grounded" and just drifting through a series of perceived realities. I'll be honest—part of me is still processing the sheer chaos of it all. It's a lot to digest.

Thanks... hmm, yeah, August... I definitely didn't have an exam then. Plus, I know now that it was right around my birthday back in July, and I remember complaining about how I couldn't make it to a concert on my own birthday. If it wasn't Sonic Youth, I'd love to know what it actually was! 🤔

Come on, you nitpickers... if we're being pedantic about it—and I know some of you love nothing more than splitting hairs just to feel superior—then let's be even more precise... 😁 🙂

She finally remembered!!! (thank goodness for Google 🙂). It was actually Smashing Pumpkins... and it wasn't Chicago, it was Phoenix. Still, I feel just as silly for skipping it as I did before.😵 😵 😵
