Sean Lee7 said:That’s true. I suppose it’s really just a matter of appreciating what we actually have, since it's all we've got.

It seems like we're always eyeing what others have while refusing to let go of our own little slice of the pie. 😬

We actually missed it by a few miles the first time—total fail—but the folks at the gas station knew exactly where we were headed. We ate until we couldn't move... honestly, it was great. Some people just know their stuff..

Yeah, Paprika. How’s the gyro compared to the real deal from Greece?

stormyviper11 said:We have to face facts—as much as Customs might beat out the other BBQ joints in NYC, it's still just a cheap imitation.

Lord, send us more of those imitations😁

gentlepuma20 said:Yeah, Paprika. How would you rate this gyro compared to what you get in Greece?

How should I know... 🙂
They’re both good, honestly; the quality is definitely there for both. Next time I think I'll go with a mild sauce, because I went with medium today and couldn't really tell how close it was to actual tzatziki—since they don't usually mess around with spicy sauces over in Greece.
The meat was solid, and the pita was top-tier.

As far as presentation goes, this is more of the sit-down restaurant version—and even in Greek spots over there, you get these massive portions meant for sitting down and eating properly.

The default there, though, is usually the snack version, you know? Something smaller that you just grab in a wrap, packed tight with meat sliced right off the spit—not quite as neatly shaped as this, mind you—plus some tzatziki and, all too often, fries. Around here, I saw a similar small-scale version at that Los Angeles Lakers fast food spot in the bottom of the walkway.

Anyway, my rating is 🎉 or rather, a -5. A symbolic deduction for the location and the fact that they don't offer a tiny little version I could grab in a minute and devour like a pig. I could go for three of those.

Thanks again!
I think our high school reunion anniversary is coming up around these dates anyway 🙂 👋 🙂

Sean Lee7 said:Hey, next time you swing by my place—or if we somehow actually end up making it to the stadium for a game—do me a solid and burn a copy of Football Manager for me, if you aren't too busy. I'd really appreciate it, and I'll definitely pay you back with something good. 🙂

Top 6 dishes at Costco or Whole Foods

2. Rose of America

Yeah, I can do that, though I’m just hoping my buddy—who I'm currently trying to infect with this absolute trash game—actually gives it back to me tonight... maybe I'll get it back tomorrow?

Man, I always feel so awkward ordering this specific dish because of what it's called 😬

There's also a version with gravy.

I saw a smaller version of it at the Los Angeles Lakers arena, in that fast food spot downstairs.

Huh. How much does it cost—and I guess, how full does it actually make you? 🙂

Heh, true, though the name is pretty clever—especially since it's a dish from a Mexican restaurant.😁

Yeah, yeah, maybe tomorrow.

Do you need anything? Anything at all... 😁

The Rose of America is actually amazing. I felt pretty self-conscious ordering it those first few times too, but once I figured out what it actually was, the embarrassment just went away.

Video. That’s how it goes next time. And that’s how the mild sauce works too. 🙂

gentlepuma20 said:So, how much are we actually looking at here? And more importantly, just how full am I going to feel after I’ve finished eating? 🙂

I think it was maybe twenty bucks, if I recall correctly. It’s enough to grab a decent mid-range meal—nothing fancy that’ll leave you feeling like royalty, but certainly enough to stop that nagging hunger from getting too distracting.
It’s a decent enough choice if you're just looking for an occasional pour, but honestly? It’s a bit too pricey to be your go-to everyday drink.

Memory is such a fickle thing, isn't it? It starts to fade before you even realize it's slipping through your fingers, leaving you grasping at shadows of things you once knew so well. Honestly, I feel like I need to go back and revisit it all just to make sure I haven't lost the thread entirely. Is it just me, or does everything eventually become a blur if you don't make a conscious effort to hold on?

It’s a bit of a breakdown of one's character when you find yourself unable to simply buy someone a beer. It makes you wonder if you're still holding onto your basic humanity at all, doesn't it?🤔

Come on, just because someone doesn't touch alcohol doesn't mean they have to jump straight to being a vegetarian; surely there is at least a small shred of common decency left in him.😁

Hehe, my little brother actually went there yesterday for those sliders... now you're telling me you're his friend? 😛

Maybe I just eat Kosher—doesn't mean I have to go full veggie overnight, right?😛

🤣Man, how did anch_io manage to dive headfirst into this topic so fast?

I feel like Ambrose Bierce would’ve had a field day with this—he probably would've quipped that cannibals were really just old-school gourmets from back before the pork craze took over.

I doubt it, honestly, if you're truly convinced that nobody has any friends left in this world. 🙂

But then again, maybe I am, assuming your name starts with an L and his starts with a G. 😁
