They seem alright to me. It’s that highly polished pop-rock sound, though I can't think of many bands that actually pull it off like this.
"Jacqueline" is a great track. Do they have anything else out besides that one album with the overly imaginative title?

I find the 22-20s from the islands much more compelling—solid blues/rock vibes. Given they've only put out one album and they're still such a young band, I actually have high hopes for them...

True, but Franz Ferdinand is certainly a breath of fresh air. I'm obsessed with "taka me out" and "this Fire". When they come on, I can't just sit still; I have to move. 🙂

Anyway, I picked up their album last week for a ridiculous $90 at a record store in San Francisco. 😁

If they're actually "out," you can tell by the price. Around here, original CDs only drop in price when they're absolutely impossible to sell, which is just depressing because I'm too happy! 🙂

Franz Ferdinand is the first debut I’ve seen that holds its own against Appetite for Destruction. It’s a flawless record—not a single skip on the whole thing—and the commercial success was just an inevitable byproduct of that quality. My only hope is that they don't blow it with the follow-up. Based on the new single, though, I'm feeling optimistic they won't ruin it. 👍
