I'm not looking to blow my whole bankroll at once, so if I put $30 down on BetMGM... I wanted to ask about how these bonuses actually work. I’ve read stuff about having to "roll over" the money, but I don't really get the logic behind it. I know you have to hit a certain amount to actually be able to withdraw anything, but I have no clue what that number actually is.

It’s not really about "earning" it, I guess... you just have to make sure you're placing bets with a big enough amount.
You should probably give the bonus Terms & Conditions a quick read first.

It’s been over ten days now and I still haven't heard back from Chase, but maybe it's just because of the weekend. I'm expecting a call tomorrow... anyway, before my card actually arrives and I get ahead of myself, I wanted to ask: which online sportsbook should I sign up for?

I was thinking about using BetMGM, but their site is crawling because I'm stuck on dial-up—ADSL isn't an option for me right now. On the other hand, I gave FanDuel a shot and it seems pretty decent. They have a solid bonus too, so I might just register there. But I want to hear from the people already betting—what are your recommendations?

By the way, I’m planning to drop a deposit of about $30 to $40 right away to get started. I'll probably bet around $1 per play, maybe more depending on what I'm looking at... if there's a good bonus involved, similar to what FanDuel offers.

Go ahead and check them all out for yourself—scope out the offers, the content, and those bonuses along with their terms. Honestly, there’s no better way to get the full picture.

Look, if you're rolling with a $1 stake—which, let's be honest, probably means you aren't just playing singles—then pretty much any sportsbook will work for you, except maybe DraftKings. You might want to check out BetMGM, BetRivers, FanDuel, or Betway, but personally? I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for BetRivers, though that’s totally subjective. Plus, they're throwing out first deposit bonuses right now.

It's a single, actually... or whatever else. There's no shame in playing online 😍☕

I usually head over to FanDuel... it loads faster, and I'm still stuck on dial-up.

So, I just got my Visa debit card from Chase today. I headed over to the site to make a deposit, but it’s asking me for

1. Credit/debit card number
2. Credit/debit card holder
3. Valid until (mm/yyyy)
4. Security code (CVC)

I typed everything in exactly how it looks, but I kept getting an error saying the payment couldn't go through... I probably messed something up, so I want to double-check if I'm actually using the right info

1. That's the 16-digit number, split into four groups of four. It's the biggest number on the card. 🙄
2. For this part, I put my first and last name, Matthew Brnic, even though the card says MATTHEW BRNIC in all caps.
3. My card says "valid thru: 07/25," so naturally, I figured that meant July 2025 and entered it that way.
4. For the security code, I used those three digits on the back of the card, right next to my signature. There's another set of four digits there too, but I read somewhere that the CVV is specifically the three-digit one.

Can anyone help me out? Did I screw something up here? 😕🤷

Alright, found the glitch... I honestly can't believe I messed this up, but yeah, I typed one digit wrong (1)... just unbelievable. It’s fixed now though, and the cash hit my account instantly. Probably gonna blow it all on 🙂
.
ps. Just in case anyone was wondering what code to actually use during the deposit, I figured it out. Worked for me.

THE GAMBLING AND LOTTERY REGULATION ACT (STATUTE NO. 83/02):

(2) Individuals who do not hold American citizenship but are temporarily staying in the United States are permitted to possess foreign lottery tickets or cards for their own personal use.

Section 72.
(1) A legal entity shall be fined between $50,000.00 and $166667 for violating:

🤷

So just pick one that is actually registered here in America.

Where on earth did you crawl out from? This has absolutely nothing to do with online sportsbooks.

Oh, you can bet it's there. Just a fair warning: don't say I didn't warn you when it happens. 🙂

Look, the government clearly knows everyone is betting online—I mean, you see the ads everywhere, from prime-time TV to every single newspaper. Yet, I’ve seriously never heard of anyone actually getting slapped with a penalty for it. What this specific law is talking about is a completely different animal. The real issue isn't the big players; it's when you have a local corner store that looks just like a dedicated lottery retailer, but they're secretly peddling scratchers for some random foreign lottery instead.

It’s all fine. I was just trying to tell the guy to find a company that actually has a physical presence here in the States. Everyone knows smuggling is rampant, but damn it, someone's gotta get caught eventually.

When it comes to betting sites, FanDuel is the best one out there for Americans.
I've run into nothing but headaches with BetMGM and BetRivers.

Online gambling isn't technically legal here, but it’s not banned either—there are way too many loopholes. The bookies and the platforms are always ten steps ahead of Congress.
I haven't heard of anyone actually getting busted for online betting, though I did hear the police knocked on some doors down in Miami because of some massive transactions involving people just playing on niche sites.
The idea is that everything should go through standard bank transfers now, but everyone avoids that by settling up virtually through private forums, Facebook, and whatever else. Eventually, US laws will have to align with the EU, so the ambiguity should finally disappear.

Hey there,
Personally, I think Unibet beats out FanDuel any day. They have a dedicated US site and I’m really digging the overall aesthetic. Even their poker client has this sleek black-and-green vibe that works for me. The selection seems huge and everything is localized perfectly for Americans... but here's the catch:
If you’re actually looking to place bets, you’re better off heading over to Betfair. Their odds are just superior, which basically means more money in your pocket. I actually managed to pull in some pretty solid wins on Betfair this past summer!!

One more thing: regarding all those laws and regulations... look, they obviously know everyone is betting online. The government isn't actually trying to ban it; they just want their cut of the action. None of us are going to end up in legal trouble over this. It’s really just about the bookies having to pay a little "tax" to our lovely government so they can profit off us too. At the end of the day, it's all just business...

I’m not even sure if Steve will see this, but I figured I’d give it a shot and ask...

briskjackal5 said:With JP Morgan, if they freeze your card (which they definitely do), you can usually get it unblocked just by calling them.
JP Morgan tends to be pretty suspicious at first whenever there are a few international transactions popping up (mostly because they don't bother checking that it's just FanDuel.com 😁 ), but once you give them a call—or sometimes they'll even call you—they'll unblock everything and you're good to go.
The other issue is a bad habit JP Morgan has, which is super annoying (and pricey): they constantly swap funds between dollars and euros.

I just opened a checking account at JP Morgan.

I'm curious about what you mentioned regarding converting dollars to euros and back again. Why does that happen, and is there any way to stop it?

From what I gathered from the teller, I can have 20 bucks, 50 euros, and 30 francs sitting in my account, and they stay exactly as they are instead of being lumped together into one default currency. So, I don't really see why there would be any need for constant currency conversion.

melloworca said:Oh, you can bet they exist. I'm just giving you a heads-up so you don't act too shocked when they show up 🙂

But then why on earth are foreign betting sites advertising at every single sporting event? Half the major sponsors for our sports federations, if not the entire events themselves, are just foreign bookies.
Even something like the Indianapolis tournament is sponsored by a sportsbook, and it’s the same story with our soccer players, the clubs, and pretty much every other sport. Not to mention there are entire TV series where the only sponsors are online gambling sites.
If we followed your logic, we'd have to start by punishing almost all of our national federations, a huge chunk of the clubs, cancel whole events, and penalize nearly every media outlet broadcasting this content or running ads for it... and so on.

By the way, that law you're citing actually runs counter to the EU Charter regarding financial flows. This means the law is practically impossible to enforce and basically invalid, both within EU member states and among those in the pre-accession phase like us.

Does anyone actually know which platforms are decent for playing Challenger? I feel like I'm constantly hunting for a spot where the competition isn't just total chaos.

I figured I’d share my experience here—hopefully, this saves someone else from ending up in the exact mess I’m in right now.
After putting some money down on DraftKings and hitting a win of $360,
feeling pretty good about it, I requested a withdrawal about ten days ago.
Five days went by without a single word from them until I finally sent an email. They gave me some standard apology, promising they’d be in touch shortly. Then, the very next morning, my account was closed and the cash was gone.🤷
Here is their response when I demanded an explanation;

Thank you for your email dated October 8, 2008.

Our security department has reviewed your account and reached a decision to close it. Your account will not be reopened. For this same reason, it was not possible
to process the withdrawal of $360.00 (via Western Union).

Below are excerpts from our Terms and Conditions, which can be found on our help page under "Legal Provisions / Terms and Conditions / General Provisions / Data Processing":

"The company reserves the right to exclude any User from participating in the entire offering of International Business Machines without providing a reason."

So, there it is: they can shut down anyone's account and withhold the funds without giving a single reason. Watch yourselves—if you bother to look up reviews for this sportsbook on any betting forum, you'll see plenty of stories just like mine.
Stay far away from them; they won't pay you a single cent if it's over $10. If you want to actually gamble online, stick to Betfair or Pinnacle—they're the only reliable names in the game. Hopefully, this post helps someone out. That's
