So, does anyone have any intel on who’s going to be opening for Metallica? I've been hearing rumors floating around that Slipknot dropped out of the lineup... and what's the deal with Anthrax in August? Are they actually still coming or is that just wishful thinking?

According to their official website, Slipknot has played most of their shows, whatever that actually implies.

Anthrax is set for August 5th.

I don't think that's necessarily true. If you're willing to push through the crowd, you can always snag a front-row spot.
I remember when I went to Stone Mountain—I think I rolled up around 2:00 PM. For shows of this caliber, you arrive early just to soak up the energy. It’s not solely about the music itself.
Back when I saw Metallica in Denver about five years ago, there were 20,000 people there. It was an absolute sea of humanity, and the vibe was incredible. Though, "vibe" might be too polite a word for the pure madness that broke out during the set. By the second song, I had already lost my friend in the chaos. It was unforgettable, though.
And now we have the chance to see $110 again? I'll be kicking myself if I miss it, even if it does sting to pay such an outrageous amount of money...

Every single concert features: Creeping Death (from the 1984 album), Battery (1986), Master of Puppets (1986), Blackened (1988), One (1988), Enter Sandman (1991), Fuel (1997), along with those two St. Anger songs—Frantic and St. Anger. Those songs are absolute legends, and while the rest of the setlist varies from show to show, it’s almost always older material! These guys are true legends. For those of you who won't be able to make it, here is a tip: if you want a recording of the concert (audio), just head over to http://www.livemetallica.com once the show is over, buy it, and pick your audio format (MP3 or FLAC—Free Lossless Audio Codec); the quality is perfect!

They seem to play these staples at every single concert: Creeping Death (from the 1984 album), Battery (1986), Master of Puppets (1986), Blackened (1988), One (1988), Enter Sandman (1991), Fuel (1997), plus those two from St. Anger—Anger - Frantic and St. Anger. Those songs are absolute legends, whereas the rest of the setlist varies from show to show, though it remains mostly older material. These guys truly are legends. Their music is perfect, but there is absolutely no way in hell I'm handing any money over to those greedy bastards, whether it's for a concert or anything else. Once a group becomes that much of a bunch of money-grubbing vultures, I'm completely done with them. Especially since they used to preach the exact opposite; honestly, Metallica is just the biggest band of hypocrites and greedy opportunists out there. I'm actually quite relieved that I don't own any original merch or anything from them...

I mean, Metallica are absolute living legends, but out here in the States, we don't exactly get this kind of massive touring circuit hitting our backyard every other week, and honestly, if people don't show up now, they never will. It's not like we're living in London where you can just pick through fifty different bands playing in the same month like it's a buffet. Who actually thinks that's realistic?

Honestly, I’m feeling a little lost here. I want to see Lenny Kravitz so incredibly much, but none of my friends are planning on going. 😢 It makes me feel pretty bummed out thinking about heading to the show all by myself.
