The official website has undergone a complete redesign and is now packed with a massive collection of new images from the Film (you can find about 100 of them, mostly hosted on the poster contest/assets page).

The Film was alright, I guess.👍

I've made my way through the entire Resident Evil series, so this worked well enough for me. Honestly, I suspect the sequel might actually be even better.
It’s one of those things... strictly for the die-hard fanatics, maybe.😁

I caught the first installment about eighteen months ago, and if I’m being perfectly honest, it didn't exactly resonate with me...

But that ending? Absolutely chilling. 😁 😁 It leaves you unsettled. I suppose I'll have to sit through the sequel, though given how much I struggled with the first one, can I even guarantee I'll finish it?

😁

Just so you know, there's already a discussion about Resident Evil: Apocalypse right here. Generally speaking, it’s good practice to check if someone else has already started a thread about a Film before you open a new one. There is a master list of all the Films we have discussed up top, complete with links, so verifying this should only take you about thirty seconds.

Additionally: here are some stills from the movie for anyone interested! Pretty neat.

Personally, I suspect the sequel is going to be absolute garbage. If they cast Michelle Rodriguez again instead of Milla Jovovich, I might actually consider sitting through it. 😍 😁

Milla is certainly a beautiful woman, but she doesn't quite work for me as an action hero—especially not when paired with a techno soundtrack that's cranked up five times too loud.

You probably already caught the trailer.-.. As for my list of movies, I've completely blanked on it, but hey... you can never have too much of a good thing, right?

The movie is packed with action, though. Since I'm a huge fan of the game, I think I'll get a lot out of it...
🙂

Thanks for the links

Actually, I watched
the first one. Regrettably.

Resident Evil is incredibly frustrating because it was so close to being a truly great action horror. If you took out Milla Jovovich—whose survival is obvious since she's the only recognizable star—tweaked the plot slightly (it would have been much more tense if people were trying to escape *from* the Death Base rather than heading straight *into* it), added some decent jokes instead of focusing on zombies, and ditched that ridiculous stop-motion monster at the end, it would have been five times better. Instead, the movie is just boring, which is the worst sin an action horror can commit.

And good grief, "Umbrella Corporation"? Who is running this outfit? Boza The Clown?

The first one isn't complete garbage. The only reason I didn't hate it entirely is because everyone kept telling me it was absolute trash. Usually, when people insist a Film is pure garbage, my experience ends up being that it's just mediocre vulgaris without being quite that extreme... 😁

As for the sequel, I’m not setting any expectations...

As for the sequel, I'm not holding my breath...

I knew absolutely nothing about Resident Evil, whether it was the game or the Film. I wasn't expecting much, yet I still ended up profoundly disappointed—as evidenced by my massive, rambling posts on the old thread. 😬 Ultimately, all those deep philosophical debates boil down to one thing: this movie could have been significantly better if they had actually put in some effort. But they didn't. Whatever.

On the bright side, I am looking forward to seeing Van Helsing in theaters! That Film is so wonderfully Cool and over-the-top and beautifully stupid that I could watch it over and over again. 😁

I'm planning on hitting the theater too...

All I want is a massive big-budget spectacle paying homage to those classic Hammer Gothic horror flicks—you know, the ones with the high-end, moody production design (thick fog, full moon, more fog, some creepy little town, more fog, a spooky castle, *extra fog*), packed with intense action and cheesy one-liners.

Hopefully, they don't miss the mark...

I’m expecting a massive big-budget spectacle paying homage to those old-school Hammer Gothic horror classics—you know, the ones with the expensive, atmospheric sets (fog, full moon, fog, some remote village, fog, a castle, *more fog*), high-octane action sequences, and cheesy one-liners.

Hopefully, it won't be a letdown...

Big budget? Check.
A tribute to Hammer films? Check.
Expensive production design? Check.
High-octane action? Absolutely. There isn't a single thing in Van Helsing that isn't over-the-top. Just wait until you see the Atlantic Ocean. I honestly want to know which gym the Atlantic used to get ripped for this role. Even the Carpathians and Transylvania can't compete with him.😁
Cheesy one-liners? The characters are dead serious, which actually makes the movie even funnier to me.

Basically, the film is an incredibly expensive piece of nonsense. I thought Resident Evil: Apocalypse was stupid and boring, but this movie was just stupid and totally entertaining... Van Helsing is exactly the kind of movie that makes me love watching bad films; it's one of those ten bad movies that makes sitting through all the other nine disasters worth it.

...

Well, that didn't exactly sound like a recommendation, did it? Because it wasn't. Much like "Kill Bill" or "Kung Pow," "Van Helsing" is a matter of very... specific taste. Don't bother watching it unless you are absolutely certain you want to dive into that particular rabbit hole! 😬

Now I'm absolutely certain I want to dive right in...

It’s almost here. This one is definitely going to blow the first one out of the water, though honestly, even the original was pretty solid. Can't wait!👋

I watched it. It was solid. They even teased the next installment at the very end...

But honestly, I’m just counting down the days until the game drops... both the new one and the...

The song is: Papa Roach - "Not Listening".
