Is he also standing there on the anniversary of some massacre against the British, claiming it's all fine and that they actually brought it on themselves? 🍿

The first episode is actually quite solid, though perhaps it doesn't quite hit those spectacular heights they were all hyping up in the trailers, but it's still good...

Everything feels like it follows a similar pattern to me, but I'm enjoying it regardless. Even so, I still find myself thinking that Newspaper remains the absolute gold standard among our domestic series...

Pretty solid breakdown here on those economic sanctions against Russia and all the geostrategy games being played

My take on this whole scam is pretty simple—they’re burning through trillions of dollars in subsidies right now, yesterday, and tomorrow, yet a massive chunk of that money just disappears into wind power, only for them to turn right back to fossil fuels whenever the wind stops blowing.
So, I guess I’m allowed to ask: why not just keep burning coal for another 25 or 30 years? You know, just hold steady with fossil fuels—including gas as a permanent backup for wind—until those nuclear plants are actually finished being built.
In my book, whether you're looking at the economic math or the climate math (and let's not even get into the ecological impact on local wildlife for a second), something just doesn't add up.
For the people lining their pockets, though? Yeah, the math works out perfectly fine.
And it definitely doesn't add up when you look at the actual results of this "green transition" where Germany is supposed to be the gold standard. You see how they laugh at American stupidity, acting all high and mighty while trying to stay on par with that "evil" America.

They really did the old man dirty
You can't just arrest him simply because he’s a drunk who stumbled upon a body—that doesn't seem like standard police procedure at all. And that scene where the journalist finds the phone in the grass, ten meters away from where the girl was discovered? Total blunder.
So, essentially, the cops and the detectives missed a bright, colorful cell phone sitting just feet away from the corpse, yet this reporter finds a dry, working phone twenty-four hours later. Makes zero sense.
On the plus side, the scene with the girl and the journalist in the pub—I don't know who that young actress is, but she was fantastic.
Bogdan looks totally reckless—and honestly, the eyebrows on Lučin make it look like he just stepped out of a castle in Transylvania rather than being the frontrunner for the next Prime Minister of the US.

The Ukrainian part felt better—though maybe the guy finding girls for the mafia is a little too young for the role.

Personally, I think *The Wire* is overrated—for me, *The Mammoth* is our best series, way more engaging than *The Wire* ever was.
I noticed the same crew wrote the script for this one, which gives me some hope that things might actually get interesting.

It is definitely a good sign that more people are turning toward the crime genre—I really hope someone films a solid crime thriller soon. We've had enough of those soap operas, dramas, and comedies pretending to be something they aren't.

A Russian mercenary who still has his show on RT to this day. Actually, I'm not even sure if he still has it since RT got banned...

The first season of Mamut was... alright, I guess. But the second one? Total garbage.
Personally, I thought Other Intentions and Law were much better!

It’s funny how hardly anyone seems to know about Law, even though the series is an absolute spectacle.

I don't get why you're calling it a scam. The whole logic here is about being CO2 neutral. It means you're absorbing more CO2 than you're pumping out. So, if we're pulling a net amount of CO2 out of the atmosphere, technically we could keep using fossil fuels as a backup for another million years and still meet the goal. I run into people all the time getting called hypocrites because they use some product X that required CO2 to manufacture. Yeah, sure, but that misses the point entirely. The point is carbon neutrality.

Bottom line? Because we don't have 25 or 30 years to sit around burning coal while we wait on nuclear power to come online, especially since coal is way worse for us than gas.

The first season is great—it really holds up. The second one felt a bit repetitive, though, almost like they just kept circling the same topic until it got exhausting. Still, it’s a rare find when you see an original, authentic American series like this. I actually really liked Other Intentions and Law too.

Honestly, I think HRT put Zero percent effort into promoting it. If I remember correctly, they just aired one season on Saturdays at 10 PM, and that was pretty much it.

The Newspaper and Mamut series are just plain bad—cringe is probably the best way I can put it. Honestly, Matanić is overrated, and his obsession with pushing those Scandinavian-style shows, which are inherently dull and lifeless, is just painful. They rely way too much on those poorly executed slow-motion shots.

Law is law 😁 Maček is easily one of the better TV characters of the 21st century. Personally, though, I still think our best series was the other Gruntovčani. The mere idea that some people think the Newspaper or Mamut are superior shows is just laughable.

CO2 neutrality is nothing more than a pipe dream, at least when you look at the sheer scale of modern global civilization as it stands today—or even if we were operating on some similar level of complexity. As for actually pulling net CO2 out of the atmosphere? That’s basically a hallucination dreamt up by people who are just as delusional as those obsessed with colonizing a neighboring galaxy... but hey, there's no harm in daydreaming, I suppose.

Mamut isn't Matanić's series, and it doesn't have anything in common with the pretentious Newspaper
I agree he goes overboard trying to mimic that Scandinavian vibe, which is why neither Newspaper nor Mamut really worked for me either.

I’ve always had such immense respect for people who can actually sit through local movies and shows. Honestly, what kind of pain tolerance are we talking about here? 😲

It’s all this cheap imitation of Scandinavian cinema—everything is perpetually gloomy and gray, as if America were located somewhere inside the Arctic Circle, even when the plot is supposed to be set in sunny Florida. 🙏 And don't even get me started on the wooden, lifeless dialogue delivered by stiff theater actors using perfect, textbook language and phrases that absolutely nobody would ever say in real life. Not to mention those incredibly long scenes where someone just slowly drags on a cigarette while staring into the distance, or characters sitting in a car in total silence for what feels like thirty minutes straight! 🙏 It’s always some social commentary mixed with gloom, emptiness, and pure depression. Even if it’s supposedly a comedy (which you somehow watch from start to finish without a single smile cracking), the ending is bound to be tragic. 🙏

I truly admire you all; with such a massive selection of films and series out there, how do you find the masochistic pleasure in sitting through these local disasters?

I mostly stick to foreign series, though I’ll occasionally glance at our local stuff just to see what's happening, and sometimes something actually works. Good grief, I’m not watching those cheesy sitcoms or that garbage on the new networks that takes place in tiny rural towns. You haven't really broken any new ground saying most American shows are bad, but hey, they aren't all terrible.

Scandinavian series are usually top-tier—this just doesn't have anything to do with them.
