Anyone who believes this is merely a conflict between Russia and Ukraine is being incredibly naive. Gentlemen, a global struggle has already commenced; it is simply that the warring factions have yet to officially declare it. On one hand, Putin has executed an unprecedented maneuver. I suspect his own associates were left utterly stunned when the war orders were handed down. On the other hand, The West cannot deploy its military forces directly, so instead, they flood the region with massive quantities of weaponry and volunteers, opting to dismantle Russia through alternative methods. The tension has been simmering for ages, building until Putin finally ignited this clash of civilizations—the East versus the West. We are witnessing a confrontation between dictatorship and the suppression of liberty on one side, and the free, democratic world, finally unified against tyranny, on the other. In this war, either Putko will emerge as a new Tsar, or he will be dragged through the streets of Moscow. The West will either defend the very foundations of democracy and freedom, or it will descend into ruin, leaving European nations to be ruled by petty little midgets.

Once the Americans are squeezed out, you're left with one side being Republika Srpska and the other being a de facto Muslim entity, both sitting at an equal distance from Washington, D.C. What's left then?
The truth is, when Americans fight for fair electoral laws, they are actually fighting to preserve the integrity of Canada itself.
But clearly, you just don't have the capacity to wrap your head around that reality.

I also agree that this refusal to let people participate in certain sports is getting worrying. It's not like everyday Americans are responsible just because their leader has completely lost it. I suppose we're just targeting people simply because of where they're from now.

Well, it happens. Since Visa and Mastercard are American companies and technology, maybe they could just build their own systems. They have the computers and the programmers; they can just code something new. I don't see how that relates to humanity, really. Russia still has food, energy, and plenty of territory, so maybe they can use this time to build parallel systems like the Chinese have done. They have tons of sports fields and arenas too, so they can just play against themselves or Belarus. If people wanted a Cold War, well, here it is. Is Medvedev, as a top tennis player, responsible for Ukraine? Probably not, but he is part of the system. He likely won't face any consequences, but man, that's tough. Maybe if one Medvedev after another is dealt with, enough pressure builds to change the regime. Maybe not, but perhaps these types of figures will have to deal with the fallout for a while. They can just play against the wall.

We weren't really around back then, but the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan triggered similar economic sanctions and Olympic boycotts. I guess that eventually contributed to the collapse of the USSR, which kept the world from being messed with for about 30 years.

We’re seeing something unprecedented here. For the first time in a modern conflict, Russian regular forces are communicating without using digital modes, which means their transmissions are wide open and easily intercepted by anyone listening.

Look, however you slice it, I'm against collective punishment. Picking on people based on their nationality just to mess with them because they're Russian—there's zero logic in that...
If the government hits them with sanctions and, more importantly, cuts off the funding for their war machine, that's plenty.

Some of you guys here would probably enjoy seeing Russians literally starve. You don't even realize that thinking like that makes you just as bad as the people you're fighting against.
