There’s definitely some nonsense mixed in there, but I didn't actually find the movie bad at all... I honestly don't get how anyone could find it boring when you have Sean Connery, Pete Wilson, and Stuart Townsend all sharing the screen ( 🙂 )

I can't say much about the first and third characters, but I absolutely loved Pete Wilson's character.
It was quite amusing watching him perform a chemical analysis on the powder found on the bridge of the Nautilus, while actually just hiding pencils in his hair. How delightfully... librarian-esque of him.

Uh.... errrr, I have to go. Heh.

I mean... give it a little time and you'll see—the movie is actually great.

I caught the movie today. While it’s certainly unrealistic, it doesn't cross the line into absurdity too much.
It serves its purpose as entertainment, which is ultimately what matters...

Personally, I don't mind a certain degree of escapism. If we are willing to accept the existence of Captain Nemo, the Invisible Man, Dr. Jekyll, and the rest of that crowd, then accepting the idea of some outlandish technology existing in that era shouldn't be such a hurdle.
The only parts that truly grated on me were those sequences involving the Nautilus in places like Venice or London.

I actually thought the dynamic of having M as the antagonist while Sean Connery plays the hero was a clever touch—though, let's be honest, that's just a bit of fun—but seeing those superhero archetypes play out worked quite well for me.

All in all, the film is great fun, and I highly recommend it. 👍
(Tom Sawyer was a bit of a nuisance, but given how much Connery dominates the screen, I suppose I can let it slide...)

I noticed one little detail in the film that I actually had to point out to my friends because I'm pretty sure I was the only one who caught it:

Right at the start, when they arrive at the docks in New York, there’s a poster on the wall with big, sensationalist headlines screaming "VOLCANO ERUPTION ON PLANET MARS!". This is actually the setup for H. G. Wells' "War of the Worlds": scientists back here on Earth spot what look like "volcanic eruptions" on Mars, but they're really just shots from
a massive cannon built by Martians to launch their invading army toward Earth in giant shells. The story takes place in 1899... 😁

Look, I caught that too, but since I haven't actually read any Wells, I found his logic completely baffling...
So, I just saw it, gave a quick laugh, and moved on...

Honestly, I totally missed the connection at first. Like, I’ve seen the sign and read War of the Worlds, but it never clicked—until now. Pretty cool, right? It just goes to show that the movie isn't just some mindless cash grab for Hollywood. Well, maybe a little... but definitely less than you'd expect.

Heh, if you look closely at the comic, there are plenty of little details worth noting: tiny "TESLA - EDISON CORPORATION" labels on the streetlamps (given their whole rivalry over AC vs. DC power), stickers on Qutermain's suitcase that hint at his travels, and even vintage 19th-century ads printed over newspapers and advertisements within the panels—stuff like that...

Nice one. I definitely need to grab a copy of this movie to watch again—I only caught it once in the theater!

Ugh, finally sat down to watch this thing and man, I am totally floored 🙂
I mean, compared to something like Pirates of the Caribbean—which is honestly just tedious, mid-tier garbage—this is absolute, top-tier trash! I can't even remember the last time I laughed that hard at a movie, and that’s saying something because it isn’t even technically a comedy. Everything about it is just soooooo unapologetically, brilliantly dumb 🙂

... honestly, even those Congressional sessions—and I've only sat through a few when I actually had the patience—were way less boring than this. 😛

The Congressional session is easily the greatest comedy series and political satire ever broadcast on any state-run network.

I caught the movie and honestly? I liked it... definitely a good way to kill some time if you're looking for something easy to watch...

A solid fairy tale. Honestly, knowing it actually follows the comic book pretty closely makes it even better...

The only thing is, the ending was a bit mindless... all they needed was for a zombie hand belonging to Sean Connery to pop out of the grave...
