Look, I wouldn't say I'm an especially tolerant person, nor have I ever presented myself that way. It’s clear we just don't share the same understanding of basic concepts, or even elementary logic, 😁 🤷 I already said what I had to say in that other thread, and, again, I'm just counting down the minutes until you finally get access to 🙂

Personally, I agree with what @hilde, @melloworca6, @nimblecrane6, and @Aaron Phillips2 were saying.
But I'm also against misinformation, so I had to speak up.

It's such a shame the thread was locked because there were some really interesting, well-reasoned points made... from both sides.
Instead of shutting it down, they should have just warned everyone to stop the personal attacks.

Come on now, let's all stay sweet and positive! If you dial back the comments about people's personalities, maybe they'll reopen it. 👋

This thread turned toxic because of a few people sliding into DMs to throw around labels like "fascist" and other nonsense. They'll harass you privately and then turn around in the next breath to lecture everyone on the importance of "civil discourse." Isn't that just precious?

Some people here seem to think certain topics are simply off-limits, which is a dangerous mindset for any public forum. Since when did political correctness take precedence over free speech? In any sane conversation, one shouldn't have to sacrifice the other.

From what I can see, those self-proclaimed pillars of tolerance started spitting venom first. They just love mocking anyone who doesn't share their exact worldview. Like nimblecrane6 said, they basically claimed They need help right this second, and if you aren't jumping in to offer support immediately—if you’re actually trying to analyze the situation instead—then you’re the villain. You’re all just xenophobes and fascists.
And honestly, even Kiss wasn't being unreasonable here..

It was only later, once it became obvious that nobody was going to tone down the debate, that the folks on the "other side" finally rolled up their sleeves and started picking fights.

Ugh, I hate when that happens. It’s happened to me more than once. 😛 If you happen to have it saved somewhere, shoot me a DM or hit me up on a chat, I don't care. Or maybe just wait until if/when the thread opens back up. I can't stand leaving things hanging.
Especially with people I actually get along with. Like Klonka said—there are different types of intelligent people (I'm definitely stealing that phrase)—but personally, I think it's all just noise.

In her very first post for this closed thread, Kiss shared a video of a German politician, Gregor Gisin, who was basically celebrating the fact that there are fewer native Germans being born.

I find it pretty interesting, though, how you didn't really say anything about his racism or what he was getting at.

I guess it's just easier to go after an American or a local than it is to call out someone like him. 😉
