X-Men—I wouldn't really put that one on this list, since it's a Marvel superhero movie about mutants.

There's always been this debate about whether you should include superheroes under the Sci-Fi umbrella, but personally, they just don't resonate with me as part of that genre.

Rakka is actually an Unfinished project by Neil B. (Oats studio), and they haven't released—nor do they seem likely to release—a Volume 2 sequel. So, we're looking at a short, Unfinished film here. Honestly, given how much that first installment gripped people, if they didn't have the resources to finish it, they probably shouldn't have started it in the first place. To me, it was a hauntingly good piece—great story, creepy scenes that really stuck with me—but it feels a bit unfair to tease an audience like that and leave things hanging, regardless of the budget. You really ought to wrap up a damn good story once you start it.

As for The Mist (2007), I tend to view it more as a horror film; it leans much more heavily into horror than Sci-Fi for my taste. Even though it’s a blend, I’d primarily categorize it as a Horror-Drama-Mystery, or something along those lines.

There’s really nothing Sci-Fi about messing around with a Monolith—though, yeah, I know it's technically ET.

To you, "it's not Sci-Fi"—but what about a Monolith arriving among apes—specifically Australopithecus—during the dawn of humanity? It’s clearly the product of some highly advanced intellect, regardless of who actually built it, which makes the whole thing a massive sign of superior intelligence appearing right when we were just starting out.

Is there really nothing in Sci-Fi that catches your eye?

I mean, should they have maybe teleported Jean-Luc Picard in among the apes instead?

But looking at the big picture? Nothing this century even comes close to the classics from the last one. Not even close.

I have to admit, I haven't seen any of these (except Blade Runner, since it's a sequel). Maybe there's a decent Sci-Fi movie out this century, but I need some time to think—my mind usually goes straight back to the stuff from the previous century.

It's a bummer you listed them all—I've seen most of these. Though, honestly, Alien eats all of them for breakfast. Plus, I don't think some of these even count as true Sci-Fi. X-Men, 28 Days Later (that was a virus thing, right?), Zombieland (zombies aren't really Sci-Fi, in my opinion), and Paul are more like comedies. Then there's WALL-E and Despicable Me—they're animated, so I'd put those in their own little category.

Now, Blade Runner 2049 is a great movie, but personally, I think Edge of Tomorrow is the best—at least for me—Sci-Fi since 2000.

Setting aside Interstellar—which I love for more personal reasons—Edge of Tomorrow is just... wow... what a freaking MOVIE.

Look, don't get me wrong—I'll take Interstellar over anything any day, mostly for personal reasons—but Edge of Tomorrow? Man... that movie is an absolute masterpiece.

If it were anyone else, I’d definitely give it a watch. But I just can't picture Tom Cruise in this one—it feels off. Still, I'll add it to my list and maybe get around to it eventually.

Look, plenty of people have said the exact same thing, only to end up admitting later that Cruise actually nailed it because he looks so different from his old roles—haha. I even heard some people who aren't fans of his say the same thing, so... just give it a chance. Based on what everyone else is saying here, it's a great movie.

Look, during those first few minutes, Tom Cruise plays this total jerk—which is exactly why you probably don't care for him, haha—but then... everything flips.

Here’s a scene just to pique your interest; I won't spoil anything for you, because once you actually start the movie, it really pulls you in.

P.S. There are a hundred better scenes in there, but I really don't want to ruin the surprises for you.

I think Blade Runner 2049 is a fantastic movie, but personally, Edge of Tomorrow stands out as the best Sci-Fi I've seen from the 2000s up until now (at least for me)...

Don't get me wrong, Interstellar is dear to my heart for various personal reasons, but Edge of Tomorrow is just... man... oh boy... it's a total POWERHOUSE of a film...

Honestly, all those aliens with their superior technology don't stand a chance against our heroes, who are willing to sacrifice everything just to kick their butts...

I mean, sure, they've mastered space-time and possess overwhelming tech... but all of that is nothing compared to the endless ingenuity of The Aliens...

Anyway, let’s get back to the main point.

For me, the most powerful moment is when Ender realizes that wiping out the ant planet wasn't just some high-stakes simulation, but the actual annihilation of an entire species—one that they actually had the potential to communicate with...

Laugh if you want, but I actually finished my degree in Archaeology because of Stargate.😁.

Most people get into it because of Indiana Jones (who I also adore), but for me, it was Stargate. I’ve always had a soft spot for history and archaeology, but watching Stargate from 1996 on a VHS tape—that was really the turning point. I was only in sixth grade at the time.

And funny enough, the Archaeologist in the movie shares my name... call it fate, I guess... hahahaah.

The whole concept behind Stargate is just so incredibly fascinating.
One of my absolute favorite moments has to be that opening scene where Daniel gives his lecture—especially that part where the group hits him with the question of who actually built them in the first place.

My top 3 picks:

1. I don't care how much haters trash it, this is hands down the best superhero flick yet.
Man, during that one fight with Doom, I almost lost it. Total tear-jerker, but man, was it awesome. That soundtrack? Absolute legend status. 🙏

2. I'm obsessed with the first Resident Evil. That opening scene sticks in my head forever.

3. & 4. Honestly, the movies I've rewatched more than anything else are The Matrix and Independence Day. But if I had to pick, I'd take this scene over the first showdown against Agent Smith any day:
